Gift of Good Health - a Blessing
The priest in the local church announced in one of the Sunday services, that the children having above forty percentage of attendance in the Sunday school will receive an special gifts from Santa Clause. The children who were dull in the service, were amazed on this announcement and their faces started glooming. As the congregation dispersed the children started talking to their parents about the gifts and their commitment to attend the classes regularly. December is amazing, it’s a season of greatest festive season will kids to grandparents anticipate on Gifts. For many, it is all about cherishing memories of connecting families. Many travel long distance and plan months ahead to visit and reach put.
The Christmas season ends with the Feast of the Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day. This is all about, the Three Wise Men, visiting the manger and presenting the gifts. We also find this as a common practice, where in when relatives and friends visit the new born for the first time, they present gift. We receive gifts as soon as we born. The priest in his homely spoke about the gifts that these kings offered were gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the baby Jesus. The gifts the Three Kings presented were meant to be symbolic. Gold was associated with the belief about richness. Frankincense was meant to represent the divine nature used to worship and myrrh, a perfume.
As I was reflecting on these three gift, the thought that stormed the mind, how significant are these gifts in today’s world. Even today everyone loves gifts.
Gold is one gift which has not lost its attraction. We find Gold being gifted to the very special relationships in various occasions. Its Valuable and the receiver of the gift also values the gift. He will remember this every time, when he see the gift or on the special occasions. This can be correlated to our physical well-being. Our physical heath is value able.
Frankincense is the hardened gum-like material(resin) that comes from cuts made in the trunk of the Boswellia carteri tree. People use it to make medicine. This denotes our mental health. Mental health has a great correlation with the physical health and any worry or stress will have impact on the mental health or mental wellbeing. This cannot be seen by other people, but few close friends and relatives can experience through the change in behaviour.
Myrrh resin has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense, and medicine. Its occasional that some people present perfume as gift. Only with the close nested circle based on the closeness, present this gift. This represent the spiritual wellbeing.
In the volatile world complete addicted to technology, I feel these gifts still have deep connection for having a good health.
A good health is not only a gift, but a blessing.
