As per one of the survey outcomes, parents spend money without making much discussion on education by payment of school fees, donations etc. The scenario is parents spend not only time in choosing the best school, but also take loans to ensure their child study in a good school. There only dream is to provide good education so that the child may able to compete with other kids and get a good job in a reputed organization. Although the childs dream would be becoming an engineer, doctor, IAS, IPS etc. However this is only possible when basic education and foundation are solid. Parents are scared of the school management and they just agree on the terms and condition of the school. They abide with the rules and regulations.
Today we live in a uncertain world. Many of the parents do not know what will happen tomorrow, with the pandemic. The pandemic also made uncertainty in the jobs. Even many are clueless whether they will be sustaining the job. Many of the parents are battling the uncertainty. The schools are going through the challenge. They have ensured that the kids learn at home and started delivering lessons through online using social media. Children are also learning to be in new normal. Life is tough.
Schools have become business model. Higher the reputation of the school, higher the profits. Many schools are existing for more than two or three decades. They have opened branches across cities, states and country. Some even have tiedup with international brand. However no parent has questioned their motto - and profits through fees collection has ensured pockets are full. No school has come out openly and reduced the fees. Although they have either laid off their staff, reduced the teachers salary - but they are collecting the fees from the parents.
When the parents having difficulty in keep the house burning, school have stopped the access to the online content for these students who have not paid the fees. So what next?
This incident has made me think - After barring the school for online access will they be treating similar to Credit card defaulters?
Step - 1
When you wont pay the credit card bill - They block the Card.
Schools - They block the access!
Step - 2
The credit card department - will continuously followup for the payment
Schools - they continuously followup for the fees payment and also offer lucrative mailers to the students just to put pressure on the parents to pay the dues.
Step - 3
Credit card department will engage the collection agents to collect the due - forcibly, humiliate etc.
Will schools engage - Collections Agents to collect dues?
Just keeping a close watch
Bottom-line
when the motto of the school is to build good humans and behavior among the students. isnt it a tragedy that school managements are making it a business to collect dues without understanding the situations.
With most school management having political afflictions - no body wants to provide justice to the parents.
When the pandemic gets wiped out - when parents have stories to narrate the tough time - what impression will the kids have on school and Management!
