Cooking – it is my inborn trait. I discovered it pretty soon. My earliest memory goes down to my toddler era where I cooked up a fantastic story when I painted the floor red with the sindoor of my Ma. The cooking was so perfect that everyone enjoyed the taste for a long time.
When I entered school, a formal training started. Putting butter on bread is a form of cooking. But then how come her butter is smoother than mines? How come her bag is pinker than mines? How come the shoes are shinier than mines? The cooking often lead to fuming, and sometimes fumes went in other’s eyes. But it was not so good at times. And I learnt my lessons.
The teenage, or the junk age, where I wore junk, ate junk, listened junk and had to cook junk only. The junk is always loud, catchy and tasty, though it does not yield anything to you except for junk. But still we remember it as Golden era.
Hmmm, after years of practice, the culinary skills were learnt, the rules understood well. Basic rule and only rule: Don’t indulge in any cooking, which can lead to choking or is a health hazard. Be careful what people are allergic to. And just in case you do, then simply don’t get caught.
I was on a testing phase. But after my teens, I entered the real battlefield. The players were smart, cunning and shrewd but I survived; learnt many new tricks, skills, recipes. Though I burnt myself, cut my fingers but still I learnt, though I was not amongst the happiest of the lot but still I was not exactly a loser.
Finally now I am a seasoned chef. I know how to use my spices, when and where how much to sauté, so that the aroma stays, When to simmer and when to switch off. A perfect dish is at times prepared. My recipes are secret and I share them with very few.
