One may get anxious or confused when reading this title which seems quite vague. What exactly do I mean when I say'Art & Excellence in Everything'. Am I referring to the world & all creation in general or just restricting myself to a particular field or area?
Yes,to be precise I am referring to all man made in general. Let us first zero down to our very surroundings.
Ever wondered as to how did everything we see come about? I'm not just referring to the invention/creation itself,but the perfection or precision to which it has been built. Let us take an example of the very buildings or houses we live in. I'm quite sure that none of us might ordinarily bother to give a thought into it,but its surely worthwhile.
Do we ever ponder over the well engineered foundation on top of which stands the building itself, thousands of manhours worth of labour,tons of concrete,cement,water and other resources used in precise combinations which brings about the final result? Have we realised the amount of finances that is put into it to establish this structure which we live in? Yes,there is art and excellence in it if our thoughts have to even glance over the matter.
Let us now focus on the vehicles we travel in. Aren't these products of art? The well placed systems put in place viz the steering wheel to the clutch to the brakes to the accelerator to the engine to the fuel and other components,to ensure that the vehicle moves at any given speed and stops at will. Not just it,but man,being an innovative genius has not failed to innovate the car from being just an ordinary combination of different metallic parts in the late 1800's to the impressive and stunning ones which crowd our streets.
What about the aircrafts we travel in? Now this one is a stunner as an ordinary commercial airliner weighs atleast a couple of 100 tons at the point of take off. I came across an article about a Boeing 737 aircraft which has around 367000 parts from start to finish,all assembled in perfect co-ordination .Its powerful twin engines create a thrust enough to make the behemoth travel non stop for thousands of miles at more than 10 KM above the surface of the earth.
Let's now shift our attention to something which has flipped the world upside down-Computers. Just a trivia,these complex machines started off as mechanical devices first conceptualized by Charles Babbage(an English engineer also known as the "Father of the Computer") in the early 19th Century.
Computers since then went through a lot of innovation with Konrad Zuse' Z3. The major breakthrough arrived with the creation of the ENIAC,the first electronic programmable computer built in the US. Its hard to imagine the progress computers have gone through from being the size of a small apartment to that which fits into our pockets.Today,one can have the world at their fingertips with the invention of the Internet,specifically Google which lays information from any corner of the world within a fraction of a second. So great and widespread is the use of this device that we would have to scan the globe for any man made systems or complexity which is not controlled by computers.
What about the world of Entertainment? The films or television shows as well as the stage and magic shows,performances and all of its kind. Speaking of films or daily soaps which give us the illusion of real life instances portrayed on television or a movie theater/multiplex,arent they well designed works of art which convey to us as mentioned above rather than dramatic performances or in simple words,acting? While being engrossed in the world of films,it would not even for an instance occur to an individual that they are merely watching a falsity made to appear real.
Think about the world of academics. The Maths,Science,Languages,History,Astronomy and more. Each of these topics have several sub topics which can be expanded and researched upon. Once again,arent these works of art as countless individuals across the globe have spent their livelihoods in researching upon and documenting all whatever we are educated with since childhood from our schools to colleges to Universities.
What about the food we eat? The very reason as to why people visit restaurants and eateries across the world is due to the variety and appealing aspect of various foods which are so well designed to appeal to our senses,particularly our sense of taste and smell.
I could simply go on and on but this is just a tiny jist of all man made works of art besides just painting and writing. There are art forms in every aspect of whatever is mentioned above,since no mere layman could conjure up anything which is valued and studied upon. It requires special skill,talent,knowledge and labour to innovate or invent something that is unique and appealing to the soul.
