Incident 1:

Location - The road under the ITO Flyover, near Pragati Maidan Metro Station, New Delhi

Time - 6.30 AM

Three young girls are walking together, in the direction of their Institute where they attend the morning class for one of their CA subjects. From a distance, one of them notices a middle-aged man, dressed in Dhoti-Kurta, walking towards them; his eyes fixed on them.

Though its early to assume, she notices a lecherous streak in his eyes. She's certain he's up to something. And her short-lived fears turn out to be true. What he does as soon as he passes them by a whisker is something unmentionable.

He mouths gibberish that none of the girls is able to make out. However, they wouldn't be able to brush away his action that follows.

He, in a matter of half-a-second, undoes his dhoti to reveal his manhood, quickly ties it again, and runs off quickly. Two of the girls who notice it, are too shocked to mutter anything.

Incident 2:

Location: The Bahri Mudrika Bus passing through Uttam Nagar, New Delhi

Time: Sometime between 6 and 7 PM

A middle-aged woman is seated on the right side of the Bus, next to her elder daughter on the window's seat; while her younger daughter is seated just ahead of them. A man in his 20s takes the seat next to the young girl and presses his shoulders hard against her. Though she doesn't react in the beginning, her mother shouts at the fellow when his actions become more daring as he leans on the girl. A scene is created, but the other people in the bus neither come forward for support nor raise their voices against the man. Eventually the three ladies are left with no option but to leave the bus in disgust.

Incident 3:

Location: Old Delhi Railway Station

Time: 4.15 PM (approx)

A family comprising of five members, including a 12-year old girl, have arrived at the Railway Platform to see off some relatives. A man, probably in his 30s and wearing an Army Uniform, goes past the girl while squeezing her chest portion. The innocent little girl doesn't know how to react and all she does is speechlessly stare at the man who has hurriedly got on to the moving train. She has not got over this incident, even eleven years after it took place.

All the incidents mentioned above were witnessed by one girl; someone I know, but do not wish to name.

These incidents have happened to her at different times of her life. It's now best left to imagination what turbulences thousands of women must be undergoing or have undergone in the city of demons.

Yes... The Metropolitan is a place where eve-teasing and rapes are a part of daily life, and such cases routine for Delhi Police. Moreover, these happenings are mostly under-reported for reasons unknown.

'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind'

-- I agree with the quote above but, with all due respect to the Father of the Nation, there are situations where the Gandhian ideologies wouldn't apply. What will truth and peace achieve for the society (read Crime Capital) where demented and pervert mindsets continue to throng and roam freely after committing such heinous acts?

I possess a supreme disregard for Hitler's ideologies and his decisions of exterminating half of the Jewish population in Europe during his time. However, despite being arguably the most hated personality the world has ever seen, he has left behind a quote that needs to be followed and should inspire citizens and Government at large, against sick anti-social elements under question:

'Humanitarianism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice. Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future'.
