Note that you are allowed to choose the order of the section.
Verbal:
This section has 32 questions and you are given only 22 minutes to solve them. Last time they introduced RCs as speed breakers. Around 2-3 RCs were found in almost all the papers. Then there were 10-12 Vocab based, around 7-8 grammar based questions. Remaining questions were parajumbles, match the following, etc.
• It might be a good idea to leave the RCs for last. First complete the sitters like synonyms, antonyms, grammar, etc.
• Try solving the question at one go. With only 22 minutes, the probability of you getting the time to revisit the questions is bleak.
• Read the instructions carefully and the make smart guesses. There is no negative marking in NMAT. Don’t leave any question unmarked.
Quantitative+ Data Interpretation:
This section has 48 questions and 60 minutes. Last time around 3-4 sets of DI were observed on an average here. The Quant questions covers almost all the chapters. There is a chance that you may get a calculation intensive DI set. In that case quant questions might be easier and vice versa.
• Don’t Don’t Don’t get stuck to a question? Leave your ego aside. You have a wide variety of questions at your disposal. Attempt the questions that you know well and are likely to get right.
• Mark the questions which will take a couple of minutes to solve but you are likely to be right. Leave them for second round.
• Practice calculation for DI.
Logical Reasoning:
This section has 40 questions and 38 minutes. Last time, there were questions based on every possible type of reasoning – sequences and series, arrangements, puzzles, coding- decoding, direction sense, blood relation based questions, weakening, strengthening, assumption based questions – literally everything under the sun.
• Again don’t get stuck to a question. Logical questions in the form of sequence and series, coding-decoding are easy to get stuck too. You have a large number of questions. Right question selection is very important and so is speed and accuracy.
