My name is Ajay Khanduri and we bought a Voltas 2 Ton Split Air Conditioner from M/S Pankaj Electronics - Mayur Vihar, on May 26 - Sunday - 2013. Pankaj Electronics is a well known name and we are a repeat customer of theirs. I have always had a good rRajeev_Vermact for TATA name, may be its because of Mr.Ratan Tata's image, and their Voltas All Weather ACs was impressive, so I thought lets put a few thousand extra and get a quality product for my office at Mayur Vihar.
My visit to Pankaj Electronics was brief, and they recommended Voltas, which helped boost my confidence and I bought the product.Sunday our office is closed, so I got it Installed. I would like to add here that the installation service is a mess and one can't expect quality even after paying 4000/- extra for cladding, Wiring, etc. After installation, it was witched on and worked for 10 minutes. Satisfied, I shut it and closed the office.
True to my worst fears, I got a call from my office early morning that the AC was not starting up. I told them to check all things and as its a brand new unit, there is no issue with it. I reached around noon time to find my team sweating at work and the AC not working at all. Apart from Turbo Function, rest were all dead. The cooling was ZERO and a call to Pankaj Electronics got a response that a technician will come over to check.
No one arrived and when I called them again the next day, I was told that someone from Voltas - A voltas Engineer will come to look into the problem. I was informed that this problem is due to lower voltage problem from the grid and hence nothing they can d about. I was thinking - is my office the only one getting low voltage from Grid or these people are playing stupid games without offering support. No one came to check even on Tuesday. They said someone will visit on Wednesday.
After waiting all day Wednesday, we logged a complaint with Voltas Service Center at 5:30 pm, only to be told that NO Previous complaint for this matter had been issued by the dealer. They claimed total ignorance on the matter and asked us to wait for 24 hours for service engineer. Thursday and Friday are gone and Till today - Saturday, there is no engineer here. A call to their service center just minutes back got this answer" the complaint is being looked into by higher authorities and you need to wait".
Update - June4th'13
After posting these reviews on Saturday, Voltas support contacted us and sent an engineer to check. He said that there is no gas. It has leaked and its a dealer installation issue. He will send someone on Sunday to fill gas. On Sunday, I opened the office to get their engineer to do the repairs. Monday the AC started to work, but the cooling was not up to the mark. Voltas engineer visited in the evening and topped the gas. On June4.13 morning the AC is again Dead!
Update June 5'13
Its Wednesday, the AC is dead. We are sitting in our office, in heat and sweat thanks to VOLTAS AC Support. At 4:40 pm Voltas Mechanics( can't call them engineers) visited the office and after scratching their heads went away telling us that the voltage is higher in our office. Bunch of jokers think that our office is the only one getting power from the grid. They left without doing anything. The TATA Voltas AC is dead as ever.
Update June 6'13
Its Thursday, another day of heat and sweat, as we realize that there is no one at TATA Voltas responsible enough to back their own product. If you are planning to buy an AC take out advise and steer clear of Voltas. We made a mistake choosing Voltas.
Update June 7'13
Its Friday, no response from TATA Voltas. Its obvious, they don't give a damn for their customers. Customers like us are just fools, getting lured by those snazzy ads and the feel good branding created for TATA products. Its a shock for us. Brand new AC dead for 11 days now and no one ready to solve the problem?
Another call to their good for nothing Call Center was made at 12:30pm. We demanded to talk to manager incharge and found Mr.Nitin Sharma, regional sales manager - Voltas out there. He told us to send him all details on his email id: nitinsharma@voltas.com and he will see to it that the problem is solved by the evening today itself. We sent a mail to Mr.Nitin with all the details.
Nobody showed up till 5:45pm and then we again called Mr.Nitin Sharma on his cell no. he told us that we will need to wait a few more days to get a resolution! Is it not ODD that the dealer and company are asking the customer to wait and not doing anything for an issue pending for 2 weeks now?

Another day of Heat and Sweat. Almost 2 weeks and TATA Voltas AC is lying DEAD in my office.
We have decided that we will wait till Monday - 10/06/13 and if there is no support still, we will buy another AC from a reputed international brand and throw away this junk of TATA Voltas Crappy AC out on the street.After spending 44k I feel more cheated than ever. These people are just fraud! Please don't buy any TATA product. Its not an Indian Company, its a Fraud Company!
Update June 10'13
We got a call on saturday - June08'13 - after posting another series of reviews online that someone will come to repair the AC in the afternoon. Don't know what they did but the AC is working for Once now. Our confidence in this product is ZERO. I doubt if it will even last 24 hours. TATA Voltas Support tool 2 weeks to repair their product, making us wait endlessly despite repeated complaints and reminders. I say they are worse than government services.
Update - June10'13 - 2:00pm - AC is dead again after working for mere 5 hours. Tell me what you think of TATA Voltas quality? I am back in queue for support and hope to get their attention in a week or so.
Once again after sending mails, the mechanics came over and told us that the unit will be replaced.
Update - June 11'13, the outdoor unit was replaced by Voltas. The AC was now working off and ON. It would switch itself off time and again for no reason at all. Another day of sweat.
Update - June12'13, after another complaint, the mechanics visited and informed that the Inverter needs to be replaced as the input voltage is low. The dealer told us that he does not have a stabilizer for 5 kw, so we have no option. Why is this moron selling a product if he has no stabilizer in the first place?
Update - June13, 13, the AC is working fine, or perhaps its because its cloudy outside! Its odd, the stabilizer is the same, why is it working now?
Update - Jun20'13, Its either cloudy or raining outside most of the time since last few days and the AC is working fine now. Voltas Mechanics just visited - out of the blue and went about inspecting the AC - no invitation from us! They claimed the voltage as culprit, so when we asked them why the gas leaks, they had no answer. In 25 days, this machine had 7 mechanic visits, 4 gas fills and full replacement and now without any stabilizer change it seems to be working fine - only because its not HOT OUTSIDE!
Wonder what will happen when rains have passed and again temperatures rise above 45 degrees.
Update - June26 - The AC is leaking through its vents! Water on my desk, just saved my monitor and tablet.AAaaaRRRrrrGGGGhhHHH pathetic!
TATA Voltas Air Conditioners are not built to operate in temps above 45 degrees, and that seems to be the only logic that fits the situation.
For those looking to buy a TATA Voltas AC here is my advice - Don't be fooled by their patriotic image, their products are not worth buying.
