The Voltas Eliste S Ac is very good in cooling but the after sales service is very bad. The call centre number does not work if you get thru then the executive is very bad in understanding. I gave a call to their corporate number there also the same cold response it seems like once sold no one is responsible for it. Even they are not replying the mails so poor after sales service.


My recommendation if you have patience and time for chasing voltas then buy the AC or buy any other brand.


There is a very pathetic scene in front of you after paying a good amount, the AC is good in cooling but service is really very bad.

I live in Delhi and bought a voltas vertis plus 1.5 T Window air conditioner  for my home and I had to replace it 2 times.first one was making some noise and second one had a bad fan , which was hitting something inside.


Dealer was kind enough to replace the unit 2 times and finally I got a satisfactory unit and I am happy with its performance.I believe there is something wrong with the quality check . How can I get 2 bad units out of 3 ?Voltas should keep an eye on the quality of its products.

Reliable Cooling machine

I had bought Voltas Vertis Gold 1.5 ton window AC from Pankaj electronics 1 Yr back, Delhi. It costed me 20, 000/- with installation + bluebird wall mounted stabilizer. Since, I had to install on  a room 13x12 top floor NE facing. I needed something which would work in delhi hot summer. So I zero down to Voltas AC. According to my budjet I could get Voltas Vertis Gold only.


I had doubt about cooling in hot summer. But last summer it worked well and cooling was good. Since it start of summer in delhi now. I have full faith in this machine.


Service, it nice . Twice I called called for service . they came on time without any reminder. The guy also cleaned the filter, washed the part of filter. cleaned internally. Check the wiring and cooling. Placed it back nicely. Only the call centre hard to get during weekend. Call them very early  morning in order to avoid waiting time.


Remote is also nice and strong. working fine now.


One thing which I feel it is an issue is loud sound when Compressor  Stop/Start. To avoid this go for split AC.


Few factor which one should keep in mind




  1. Budget




  2. Room Site.




  3. Duration of direct sun light coming into room.




  4. Facing of the window where it need to installed.




  5. Near to power socket. Wiring.




  6. Meter MDI Load.




  7. Size of window where to be placed, etc .

The summer was starting and we were looking out for an AC. We live in Bangalore and hence went to the usual haunts in Jayanagar - Girias, Devi & Adhewar.. At Girias, we went it a 8.15PM on a sunday evening and half way through showing us the various models, the shop started turning the lights off (It was 8.25). They gave us a few rates and we walked off.


The experience at Devi and Adhewar was better. The crowd is definitely lesser at Adheswar and hence the sales person has time to explain the product to you. Devi is much more crowded and you have to look around for someone to help you as none have a uniform or ID card. Well, we liked the 1.5 ton LG AC. We almost paid for it but wanted to check if they could fit it in our apartment as we live on the 11th floor. At Devi, the sales guy was sure. At Adheswar, the guy was more honest and told us that its best to do a site inspection from the company and the cost for LG service guy to inspect was Rs.250.


Thankfully, we did the site inspection. Turns out that they could not fit a split after all as they was no way to install the outside unit as we were on the 11th floor. The only option was to go for window ac. We then went back to Adhewar for a 1.5 ton window AC. They had no stock. Girias jaynagar claimed they don’t deal with window ac! Then we went to Devi. They didn’t have LG but offered Voltas. I was a bit concerned about Voltas as there are many reviews on the net about their service. (They have outsourced service to various vendors and do not do it directly unlike LG or Samsung).


However, I met the Voltas Area Head at the store and he convinced me to go in for Vertis plus AC. The AC was delivered 2 days later than promised as Voltas couldn’t supply to store due to month end! Once the AC came, the installation happened the next day. Devi / Voltas did not offer free installation. This cost me Rs.1500 (which included the frame around the AC to plug the gap as the AC vent was larger. Good thing about Voltas was their installation guy also did the frame padding unlike LG who wanted me to get it done from a carpenter and then call them. Where would I go running for a carpenter for this small work. So good on Voltas on this point). Also Devi / Voltas did not give me a free stabilizer. While I didn’t mind paying for installation, I definitely felt conned on this as now a days all dealers give this. When enquired, I was told that they had given me rock bottom price and hence this would be additional. Both Voltas Area Manager and Store manager washed their hands off. So I bought this for another 1500. So total deal works to 20000. So please ensure that you nego and clarify all this irrespective the dealer / company. If its not mentioned on the bill, they wont respond well once sales is closed and money paid.


Once the AC was installed, there was a bad smell coming. The guy who installed (who is a sub vendor from the service outsource vendor of Voltas!!!) said it would go away after a few days. As I didnt know what the smell was, I spoke to the service person at Voltas on 3rd day and he sent across a technician. Lo and Behold, the day he came there was no smell!! What can I say?? So he left after filling an installation report. Hope it stays that way!


Anyways, on the AC itself. Its a 2 star AC. I found that the difference between a 2 star and 3 star was negligible (over a year, my saving wouldn’t more than 300-400). The Cooling is good. The sound is not bad but is there compared to split (Definitely split scores on this aspect as its much much more silent). No rattling and it does not sound like a truck when the compressor starts. The remote is easy to use. Overall, satisfied except for the stabilizer part and the smell which is now disappeared. Its been a week and we are sleeping superb thanks to the cool air. The product is good so far and I hope the service is good also. Will update later on.


UPDATE AFTER 11 MONTHS OF USE:


The AC works fine. However, am writing this update to warn all the AC buyers that they should get their water drain pipes properly installed and ended (maybe onto a wall) so that it does not drip onto the neighbours window (big problem if you stay like me in an apartment). In my case, the guy who came for installation insisted that "window AC dont drip much" and got away without fitting the drain pipe and ending it properly (as I didnt know better). Now after few months of usage, my neighbours on the ground floor complained that water was dripping onto their window.


I called Voltas service and placed a request. I also realised that I was due two free services (1 in 6 month and the other in 12 which nobody does unless you call them and ask them to do). So I got the service request number (and there ended the easy part). The guy assigned to the service point blank told me on the phone itself that fixing the drain pipe and solving water drain problem was not his job (This without even coming home). He never turned up on time and instead went home after telling us he is coming and 3 and then at 5pm etc. At 7pm we called him and heard a child cry and TV running.


Next day, he sent his assistant. This guy must be seen to be belived. He came, saw, and had no idea of the drain issue. Said he was "techincal" guy and this was an "installation" team issue. So who can help. He had no idea. He was here to do "free service saar"


So what was the free service.. Forget what it says in the Voltas manual. He just removed the front cover washed it for 5 mins, dusted the AC for 2 mins, fixed the cover and lo & behold.. Free service Done!! This is the quality of the service techician (He did what the guy who washed my car does except he removes the car mat and washes). Voltas has outsourced to a pack of people like this. God help Voltas owners.


So water drain issue is unresolved by Voltas. No reply from their South service head (Perhaps he belives Silence is Golden). I have reuquested Devi Intl (the dealer from whom I purchased) for help. He has promised to send someone next week. Lets see.


UPDATED AGAIN:


The Devi guy came (though after 3 days of followup). Did the job in 30 mins and was out of there. Am re-rating the service of VOLTAS to 1 start. The dealer's guy was able to do it and the Voltas guy had no clue. No response from their website either on the compalint rasied. I think its true that the Voltas service is bad. My experience does not lead me to beleive otherwise. Kudos to Devi Intl, Jaynagar and to Mr.Narendra.

I bought a new AC Split from Voltas in April 2009 with a one year service coverage. on 23 Mar 2010. I asked the customer care (18004254555) and logged in a ticket for servicing the same in the ticker number 10MR2301649. I was promised that the ticket will be attended in 24 hours. since then everyday I called them up the response was that the technician will be coming tomorrow or same day evening.


I talked to three senior members in escalation team (Aditya, Sai and Divya) everyone apologized numerous times but no one acted professionally and responsibly to provide the service. So as on date I paid for the services to Voltas and Voltas team never fulfilled their obligation in attending the customer grievances.


This is a pure example of deceit and fraud on part of voltas. I will never recommend this to anyone in future.

We just purchased Voltas vertis plus AC yesterday. Had a search on Voltas ac and then I decided to purchase either voltas or hitachi ac. As Hitachi was bit out of my budget so I purchased Voltas. Just used it for one day and found that yes Noice is bit loud on this AC however Cooling is good.


Lets see how it works in future.


We purchased one more Voltas AC to gift that Voltas 1.5 tone please review if that's good or not I haven't taken the delivery till now if required it can be changed.

I purchased a voltas vertis gold 1.5 ton split ac in March, 2010.  However, I am not able to understand its functions till date.  Even their service engineers are also not able to satisfy me.  Can somebody explain how on and off timer function simultaneously in vertis gold split ac as voltas service engineers are not to answer this query though as per  the owners manual it has this function and they say that only on or off timer can be set in one time and both can not be set simultaneously.  The other thing is  how somebody would now that the compressor has stopped working when the set temperature is reached.


Does fan only indicator displays when the compressor has stopped working after reaching the set temperature?


A blemish on the TATA brand name

I had bought Premium Vertis with Remote in 2005. This worked fine till a year then the remote conked off. I called up Voltas wherein I was constantly kept on hold by the customer care executive and in the background I could hear them talk and have a ball. Frustrated I called JustDial and asked for Voltas's Head Office number. I spoke to one person who took my entire complaint but when I asked him his name, he hung up. However after persistent complaints I had their engineer come after 2 weeks. He said the remote will have to be replaced. He charged me Rs 3000 for the remote plus 300 visiting charges. The remote worked only for that season and in 2007 it again conked off. Another engineer came in and said that this time the remote panel needed to be replaced. Another 4000 was charged.


I did the reluctant needful. 2008 motivated this product to go dead. This time another engineer came and said that the remote needed to be replaced and maybe the panel too but he was not sure so he had to take the A/C. He took it and sat on it for 3 weeks. When the A/C came back after making me suffer a month of the peak summers, it came with a bill of 3000. I was highly frustrated and complained to the consumer forum. They forwarded my complaint to Sanjiv Kumar Aggarwal (Head of Complaints - Voltas Ghaziabad Factory) He sent my complaint dancing around to many other people to make it look as if it was being dealt in a serious procedure.


However another couple of engineers came and after what they called a thorough checkup, they were happy to inform me that this time a new remote and a panel will be installed and it will end all my problems. I told them to get lost because all the previous technicians had given me the same assurance and their assurance lasted only for that season. I was not ready for another seasonal buy one get one free assurance. Finally I decided to call a local A/C repair shop mechanic and told him to just throw away the panel and remote and convert my A/C to a manual one. He charged me 700 and now it has been two years the manual system is working beautifully. He was surprisingly honest to tell me that it has a guarantee of a year and the temperature display wont be there since this is a purely manual function like the old time A/Cs. I had no stamina to ask for more as I only wanted to have some peace of mind away from the Voltas company's nuisance.


If you are planning to go for this product then I offer you two choices, either learn from my experience and just quit the thought of buying a Voltas product or buy it and enjoy the experience I have undergone.

I have been using the Voltas Vertis 1.5 Ton Ac for the past 3 years with out a problem. I purchased it for Rs17, 000 and I feel that it is good , evecpt for a certain level of noise that is common in every window AC. But care has to be taken for cleaning the AC over time to time for a proper cooling or else the cooling level drops.  Window Ac has its advantages like low maintenance and easy cleaning where as they have a directed cooling and lot of noise which tends to increase over a period of time.


in case of Split AC they are costly difficult to maintain and clean by our self  but good spread of cooling the whole room and less noisy. I opted for the window AC for my bedroom cos I had a window made for that


My power bills shoot to an extra 1000 for the summer season for a whole night usage/.

I purchased Voltas 1.5 tr a/c 2 years before n i m really satisfied with the product n mainly its after sale servicing !!!


I was serviced by unique refrigeration krishna nagar headed by Mr. Susheel Sarin. He himself made all the arrangements for perfect working of my air conditioner. I got a problem once in my ac and I was attended on the same day by the worker even in month of may when there is a lots of pressure due to heat and all.


I m really grateful to this person as even in month of may i was enjoying ac with any problem.

Purchased 2 1 T vertis premium split on 13 Oct. One fixed on the same day and the other fixed only the next day because of non function of drilling machine. At the time purchase they gave a No. to contact if any defect but after contact they gave another No.


The remote of the 2nd is not functioning and replaced after nearly 15 days that too repeated reminders I was assured defects will be attended to within 24 hrs but when the second one(AC) was malfunctioning(water oozes out inside the house) and reported they came only after more than 48 hours and again water came out from the other side and again called for but came after 2 days and was told a particular part was broken and I have to send the copy of the bill to the service station(ac was just 3 months old then) and after sending the copy, it was attended to but only after 2 days was told by the mechanic that this model is new one and this defect occurs frequently but consumer was told excellent service and absolutely no defects can be found, at the time of purchase.


For the late repair and change of remote after 15 days they have not said even sorry (it is strange even a malfunction remote cannot be replaced by a new one within atleast 2 days(meanwhile in 10 days time a person came and replaced a new one and that too not functioning and took back with him (remote)

Here is my precise and to the point review>


Why voltas? Because we had earlier used Voltas fridge in past which slogged for more than 14 yrs without any problems, and did not find any other brand good.


The dealer: Viveks , Tambaram, they only install the AC, very bad or worst service network, delayed my installation by 3 days inspite of tough follow, they have one call centre type no, where everytime one diff person is there to receive your call and you need to tell him whole story from begining.


The problem: initially technicians did not bring full equipment (rope) to install the AC, they offered to install on terrace but we told to install over the window shed, as seen everywhere. And now after so much of trouble and dust and this and that, after installing and giving demo of AC.


The mechanic went away and now exactly after 40 mins the ac had been switched off, a mug of water feel from split compartment, iwas so afraid coz the stablizer n switch is below the AC and it might hav gone wet n short circuited. this is dont know what bloody type of installation, immediately called up them and have asked them to come, but now they seem to be in some other site. and will come later, so till the time they come will write this review, though product seems good the quality of service provided by viveks is very very worst.


Voltas Vertis Plus - good value for money

We bought the air conditioner more than a year back and it has been functioning well.


Has all good features you would expect from a split air conditioner and is certainly less expensive compared to National Panasonic or O General. Serves the purpose well - can cool the room rather quickly even in peak summer in a hot and humid place like Chennai - the turbo mode really works.


We got this from Vivek & Company - supposedly one of the better retailers in Chennai. That was the ONLY mistake we did - the dealer failed to provide one of the free services during warranty in the first year.


The dealer also sold us "an extended warranty". When we asked why one of the quarterly services during warranty was skipped, the response was "the manufacturer did not remind us and as a customer you should have called!". And though the machine is covered under extended warranty, the dealer is not willing to provide some routine preventive maintenance service - the claim is that "if there is a problem, we will attend to it".


Don't fall for this sham from Vivek's. Buy it from some other dealer and you may end up saving over Rs 1000 on the product. Oytherwise a good buy.

After searching in the market, in Faridabad, finally I bought Voltas 1.5t vertis plus, a TATA PRODUCT in the air conditioning SECTION.


I FEAR TO try with some new brands available in the market. The Voltas1.5 Vertis plusis one of the most successful products in the market.


Key Features


This Vertis 1.5 tonne cooling capacity window conditioner has a rotary compressor. This 1.5 ton AC works very well to keep cool from the extreme heat. The incorporated rotary compressor with an EER of 2.6 and 2 stars gives power efficiency and smoothness mind and body, as it emits low noise while operating. Its compressor has long life and problem free running of the AC cooling even in unbearable heat.LITTLE NOISY OUTSIDE BUT QUIET INSIDE.Its normal they say.

Price is higher compare to other products in the markets. Its better to stick to good brand, compare to less known brand just to save few bucks, and it might cause me more in the long run in terms of poor quality and durability. A good marketing sense.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE OF VOLTAS PRODUCTS

I brought a brand new Voltas Vertis Premium 1.0 Tonne Split A/C on 20th June'09 from a dealer in Chennai. The A/C is not working - compressor problem, which is supposed to be the 'heart' of an A/C, it was replaced after several follow-ups & chasings by making call after call, request after request. Even after new compressor replacement, the A/C continues NOT TO WORK


Can you believe it, but it's true & fact!!!! Today is the 6th day of purchase day & still the A/C is not made to run / work, every passing day one after other several mechanics & technicians from VOLTAS is coming & figuring out new problem after other! I dont know if this will every work & pls. NEVER EVER BUY A TATA PRODUCT, FOR E.G. NANAO CAR DO NO GO FOR IT FOR GODSAKE. I dont want the trauma & tension I am going through for my fellow citizens.

Worst After Sales Service

I bought the Voltas Vertis Window AC 1.5 Ton. Last season, Fan motor burnt and was repaired by Voltas(Unique referigeration, Krishna Nagar, Delhi) after lot of follow-up. At the begining of the season, all of a sudden AC stopped working. Voltas guy from Unique referigeration came and confirmed the motor is burnt again. I requested them to replace it with new one instead of repairing it. He assured that work wud be done in max 2 days. Thereafter I have been calling them every morning, afternoon, evening, but of no use. I called up directly the Area Manager Prashant Rastogi on his cell 9911709300, but no response. The guy do not even receive the call at ny time of the day or night. Today after 13 days, these jokers could not replace the motor. Sushil Kumar, owner of Unique Referigeration at his cell 9311293437 is never available, every time his new johny picks up the call and u need to explain him the entire back ground of the complaint.


It is pathetic, disgusting and frustrating to have such an experience with a company like VOLTAS - TATA GROUP.

I have purchased Vertis 1.5 ton Rotary comp. in Feb 2003. Till now it's really cool. I occassionally have some issues like the compressor may not start immediately and when I switch it off and turn on aft some time will have the correct / proper effect.


My son used always play with the remote and even bang the same on ground. Not too bad. Its still working with some small issues. Till now I dont have much issues and running very smoothly.


For service there is no issue because u hav lot of dealers in and around Chennai and it is easy process to get the same repaired. But we need to be more cautious with the service engineers those who visits us at times I notice they just clean the filters and clean the frame and the external parts and without cleaning the compressor they freak.


So please beware of this aspect.

I had bought a Vertis window air conditioner with 5 years warranty. The air conditioner was hardly used as it was in a (unused) drawing room at my home. After one year the compressor failed. It has a 5 year warranty. After repeated calls, when service people came they wanted Rs 2500 + 300 to repair it.  Also they wanted Rs. 1000/- to be paid in advance even before they would take the air conditioner for repair.


I talked to person called Shekhar on phone, who is Service Center co-ordinator. He was extremely rude and said that all these charges have to be paid and they have company policy of levying these hidden charges to make money. He openly said that we could do what we wanted and they intentionally don't disclose these charges at the time of purchase as otherwise nobody will purchase the ACs.

Pathetic Performance and Customer Service

I bought a Voltas 2.0 Ton Split A/C from Khanna Aircon in Faridabad. It worked fine for a few weeks and then started created a horrible noise from the external unit. We complained to the local dealer from whom we bought the unit and despite his best attempts, he and his engineers have been unable to repair the issue. The external unit was replaced (as we were told) but even that is making a lot of noise.


Now the situation is that this dealer has started misbehaving with us when we call and when we call Voltas, they say that this dealer is high level dealer and hence we will get service from him but we aren't. The product worked fine when it worked but it hardly worked for more than a few weeks.


Just beware of buying a Voltas AC and that too from M/S Khanna Aircon in Faridabad. He won't be helpful if things go wrong.


Really a Five Star Product

I bought this AC in February after checking out many products from many manufacturers. I have to say that Iam very happy with the performance of this product


Though I dont understand most of the functions of this product, (except the cooling part) The ease of use,  time taken to cool and reliability are top notch


Only Iam not too happy with the indoor noise level, it makes loud clicks during long use (once I woke up in my sleep imagining something wrong and had to wait till the next cycle for the AC to make the same noise and go to sleep)


also the energy bills really do bring a smile to your face, (I was apprehensive before choosing this AC only in regard to the electricity bills, expecting sky high bills) this product has proved me wrong and really is a miser when you consider the electricity bills


I have not yet had the opportunity of availing the services of customer care and surely do hope that I will not be dissapointed on that front


as with all TATA products this one too is a winner but loses out to other brands due to its staid advertising and promotions
