On the intervening night of 28th/29th June 2020, one of my Voltas window air conditioners which was on a valid AMC, and serviced by Voltas technician a couple of months ago caught fire. So far none from Voltas has been able to tell me the root-cause of the problem nor their next plans despite escalating it all the way to the COO of Voltas. I understand that this is an accident but that does not mean Voltas can get away from their responsibility to identify the root cause of the problem and to ensure that such things don't happen in future.
Every time I have needed Voltas services or support for repairing any of our units, the experience has been quite pathetic. They don't seem to have any SLA and no a single member from their escalation teams whose numbers are published in Voltas web site answers calls.
In addition, if you escalate it to their senior leadership team(Head of Services and COO etc.), they never ever respond, even for this fire incident, giving me a feeling that the Senior leadership team lacks empathy and etiquette which again reflects on how the team on ground carry out their activities.
I have three Voltas Air conditioner units at home and their performance as far as cooling is concerned has been quite satisfactory even during the peak summers of Delhi. All of the units are of different models, a combination of windows/split, different refrigerants, and purchased over the last 5 to 6 years. Therefore I can say with reasonable confidence that Voltas Air conditioners are good.
A poorly managed and trained services organization can turn the experience of a very good product into a nightmare.
Interestingly I also noticed that most people who have contributed to the reviews have grievances against Voltas Installation and Support services!
