Good AC with Excellent service
Aug 05, 2008 05:29 PM 14416 Views

Hello everyone! We bought the newly launched range Samsung Bio-Sleep AC at the start of this summer. Its A 1.5 ton window ac with many useful functions like remote control, temperature control(18-27deg C), swing blades, bio sleep mode, energy saver mode, washable grill etc.

The best part is it has good Energy Efficiency Ratio(EER Rating) of 9.7 which is highly desirable for lower electricity bill!! Even country made products from Voltas or Godrej of the same type do not provide with so many functions at such a price( we got it for 14K INR). By the way for your info choose window ac if you are about to shift houses in near future (split ac once installed are best not disturbed to ensure their problem free working).

The other good thing is Customer Support!! We had two petty problems since its installations n both were rectified by Samsung ppl within 3 working days also followed by a HR call whether we liked the service or not..Phew! I'll recommend it to everyone.

I am using 2 samsung ACs.

First one I bought in 2005 and is working very good. efficiency is good.

Second AC which I bought in 2006 was very poor in performance. Compressor was getting jammed every alternate day. It too samsung more than a year (they replaced compressor six times under warranty) but they failed to rectify fault.

During summer of 2007, I had a high level discussion with local samsung service center. they serviced it again and since than this AC too is working fine.

Typical life (its my opinion) is 6 years.  I am planning to replace both ACs now and yes I may consider samsung once again.

Old review is cited below. I suffered a lot in peak summer because of second AC. but now things are under control and I am happy.

dear members,

I am a proud owner of samsung 1.5 T window AC.

this air conditioner has got 3  compressor replacements (all by

samsung service team) in first year.

I really enjoyed summers last year, only due to this great product. it

had never worked in last summers!! it saved a lot of electricity for

nation!!!

thanks to all samsung team and samsung top management. I undestood

that national interests are top priority at samsung and you are

fulfilling your social responsibility by producing such products which

never works and save lot of electricity.

this product (unfortunately my AC) is performing at its best in this

season as well. this is the second day of this season when I did the

mistake of turning this AC on. this AC is immediately broke down.

I once aagain registered a complaint at samsung customer care today.

Complaint number is 8406000094, dated 10 May 2008 and once again I am

at the mercy of samsung service team.

so, , I am ready for another session. I am sure that you are going to

repair this AC more than 6 times in this season.

it is really good way to keep service team, your customer care department busy.

CUSTOMER IS AT LOWEST PRIORITY. CUSTOMER HAVE TO SUFFER BECAUSE HE HAD

DONE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING SAMSUNG PRODUCT.

i want to gift this AC to samsung India president. I personally

believe that he is the only person who can afford to maintain this AC.

please share contact information of samsung top management, or help to forward it to samsung and please please please help me to get rid of this JUNK manufactured by Samsung.

Samsung Window AC - Avoid
Mar 16, 2007 03:09 PM 12757 Views

We had purchased 3 pcs of Samsung window AC few years back.  There is a typical problem in all 3 of them.  The vent( the place from where the air blows into the room)  has its loovers which dont blow upwards.  If you position it that side then it moves straight or down.  This bad as then the air blows right on to our body.   Another problem is that there is a disturbing humming sound from the AC.  Its from the compressor which is a intrinsic defect.  No AC of todays time should have that.  The company said its part of the AC.

The best is that their engineer denies there is any sound even though it is there and he keeps saying its the sound of the air blowing out.  Its a one sided arguement as they dont accept it as part of their problem.   Lastly the support is horrible atleast in Kolkata.  They are just not interested to do a AMC( Annual Maintenance Contract) and if you force them into it then they do it very reluctantly.

They attend to calls after that which is good and commendable.   The product needs 3 areas to be attended - chnnage the front grill so that air blows upwards, chnage the compressor which makes humming sound and also ensure that the support people are ready to take AMC contracts.  Till these 3 issues are attended, these ACS are horrible.

I have seen over 5-10 AC which my friends had purchased in same year( plus minus 1) and all face same problem.  As also 70 odd ACs in a Time Share Resort near Kolkata have the same porblem and so its not  an opinion of mine based on my 3 ACs.   New buyers must make sure that the current lot available in the mkt do not have the same issues which the ACs 2-3 years back had.

AC does not work from the day one of purchase
Jul 14, 2006 06:16 AM 6749 Views

Hi,

I bought a Samsung AC on the 3rd of July and from the day one the energy saver mode is non-functional. I have reported the same to the dealer on the 3rd day of purchase and finally on the 9th day of purchase, I have a Samsung engineer come to my place who says that the energy saver mode is non-functional and the PCB requires replacement. I denied the replacement since it was non-functional from the day one I purchased it. I called up the dealer and informed him that I do not want the part to be replaced since it is non-functional from the day one, instead I want the AC to be replaced, but the dealer refuses to do so.

Initially, when I went to the dealer to buy an AC, I wanted to buy the model # AWT18XSHDE, but the dealer said that its the worst model that Samsung has ever made and he convinced me to buy the Model # AWT17QBHBA and he said that its the best model. I dont find the model on the internet. Also he charges me Rs.18300 for the same and also informed me that I would be getting a lot of free things along with this. But finally when I get the invoice, it says that the price is Rs.15990 and that the free stuff that he provided me costs the rest of the amount which he did not inform me when I bought the AC. Now being a customer, I thought that obviously this is a good model since since it costs Rs. 18300 if compared to the Model # AWT18XSHDE, which costs Rs.19990 over the internet.

I feel that the dealer had infact cheated me. I would like the AC to be upgraded to the Model# AWT18XSHDE, and also I amd ready to pay the difference amount for that. The dealer declined it. Now I am living with an AC which does not work. This does not leave a positive experience about the company which I thought would be great. I dont know what you are going to do about this, but surely I feel that Samsung is a brand that I am never going to refer to anyone for any kinds of products.

Need Suggestions on AC usage
May 26, 2005 01:31 PM 10256 Views

I bought Samsung AWT18QBHDC 1.5 Ton Air Conditioner last week, and I have installed it in 12 X 15 room, so can anyone tell me how can I save electricity. Or whether I can save electricity using more tonnage in small room or this is perfect with room dimensions.

Now days in Chennai, it is very mandatory to have AC, summer is so sweating here that one can become mad. So after installation of AC, I feel very comfortable and cool. After coming from office I switch on the AC till morning. Though I am not married so my friends also started visiting to my house often, when AC was not installed I used to spend time in my colleague house and now I don’t prefer to go anywhere in weekends.

I And I want to know some tips so that I can cut down my E bill also...........

Need your valuable experienced advice.....

Thanks in advance

Good Air Conditioner for House
May 18, 2005 04:01 PM 11748 Views

Hey Guys!!! I bought this Air Conditioner just last week during Samsung Summer Bonanza Festival. Its actual cost is Rs 21,490 (as per at Samsung's Site). But it costed me Rs. 18,000 only at the MELA. Cool!!!! Isn't it... Hey, this not only stops here. Along with that I received one Electric Jug (Rs 1,000) and Britannica CD (Rs. 1,100) as free gift. So, in total Rs. 6,000 ka Faydaa.... But, with that I also purchased one Voltas Stabilizer (5 KVA), which is must if you want to have your AC in its best condition and prevent it from Voltage Fluctuations. It costed me additional Rs. 3,000.

You can control the AC completely with Remote Control. This is the latest and unique model in its class having Silver Nano Technology which contains Silver Nano Metallic Filter and Evaporator which is very very effective in killing/removing those bacteria and germs that are invisible to human eyes and helps you in maintaining good health and also helps in removing odour smells from the room.

This AC comes with a 1 year full replacement warranty and 6 year Warranty on Compressor. The stabilizer comes with a 1 yr replacement warranty from Voltas. You can also go for Local Made Stabilizer which will cost you around 500-1000 Rs. less but will come with a 6 Months warranty only. so, I would suggest go for a Branded one only.

The AC Performance so far is quite impressing with an excellent Support from Samsung. They enquired about its running performance and came for a check up too and assured to give an excellent after sales support.

Electrolux OXYGEN AC. 1.5 ton
Dec 08, 2004 12:44 AM 8912 Views

Bought it in April thinking that it will be a great relief for my family in those hot months of summer, but after installing it , it was found that it had gas leakage & therefore called the dealer to replace it.

But he persisted of not doing it & was successful too, the mechanics came & took it & welded the the region from where the gas had leaked, since then it is working fine, no trouble, I have it in dining room, quite large area for 1.5 ton ac. but it cools well , oxy-gen is a good feature too.

The compressor is of hitach & I really don't know if it safes any electricity . As this was my 1st ac. I made a mistake by going for Electroluxbut the LG one or HItachi one remains to be the best.

The remote control supplied with is good & has fns' like sleep, timer, oxy-gen ,

The ac. has gone trough two services & is due for third service in month of Jan.

Will update on how it works next summer.

Samsung: An Eminent product

Samsung A/C

AWT18QBHDA Samsung 1.5 TON window air conditioner with remote. I recently procured this ac after an exhaustive research. The main points of consideration were

1. whether I need a 0.75 or 1 ton or 1.5 or 2 ton ac 2. power bill consumption 3. noise free and dust removal capacity of the ac I found out the following 1. Room Length * breath * height = cubic square feet. Say a drawing room of L=18 feet, B=12 feet, Height = 9.5 feet gives 2052 cubic feet.

This would theoretically mean an ac of 2 ton. (@2000 cubic feet= 2 ton, 1500 cubic feet= 1.5 ton and so on.) However practically speaking, the room is not exactly 2052 cubic sq feet as calculated above because one forgets the wardrobes, bed, tables etc already inside the room which the purified air does not penetrate inside .

So lessen @25% from 2052 is equivalent to 1539 cubic sq feet. Thus only 1.5 Ton ac is sufficient. By this same calculation for a small bedroom of say L=12feet, B=10 feet, H=9.5 Feet, gives= 1140 cubic sq feet. 25% less from this leaves us with 855 cubic sq feet. So only a 0.75 Ton AC is required.

2. Envisage power bill from Wattage. KiloWattHour divided by @ unit If the 1.5 Ton ac Wattage (mentioned in the leaflet is say 1950 watts), the KWH / unit is calculated as : 1950/1000 multiplied by 5hours per night (for a continuous 7to 8 hour period as the ac switches off intermittently after attaining the normal preset temp of say 25*c ) divided by say average Rs 5 per unit comes to approximately Rupees 50 / night. Usage for @ 25 days /month = 1250/ month. Not bad at all ?.

NOTE: generally 1.5Ton=1950 Watt, 2TON= 2600 Watt, 0.75 Ton= 1000 Watts 3. Check the noise free Characteristics from the dealer. I found that Samsung and National are relatively noise free. Elimination of dust by 2 or 3 types of filters are incorporated in most of the leading brands like Samsung, LG, National, Amtrex, voltas etc but never properly in Assembled ACs. All three above inferences resulted in me buying this Samsung AWT18QBHDA ac with remote which costed 18,000/- nett without any gifts attached.

Tip: Never buy an assembled ac which costs 2-3000/- lesser. You are actually saving nothing. After a few months, the Wattage / ampere goes haywire which shall surely consume more electricity. Just think, a branded AC means a composite unit having all infrastructure to make a QUALITY product. An assembled unit conversely means a small company with primitive conveniences that generally result in an inferior end-product.
