Onida S18CFL3 1.5 ton spit AC is so powerful that I don't think I will realize when summer comes and goes. I bought this amazing AA from my towns retailer. This AC cost me around 37 grands . This is a lot of money so I needed to be sure that I am not wasting my money.


So I decided to buy a product from a company that has never troubled its consumers, so my choice was simple to buy an Onida product. I have been using Onida product from a long time ago. I bought a color TV of Onida and I am completely happy. So I bought this 1.5 ton monster and its worked perfectly. The most amazing thing is that the mahine is so powerful that it keeps my whole house cool and the power consumption is pretty decent.

Purchased 1.5 ton 3 star ac of onida brand. I like its cooling. the room in which I had installed this ac has a room size of 22x17 feet. and it cools the room very fast .


There is no sound at all. of the running ac.comes with 10 feet copper pipe. and not aluminium.Sleep mode is great in night.


3 star rating. means electricity bill will be not high. and I got Rs1000 extra in my electricity bill this time. after installing ac.


The ac is bought at Rs 26000. so reasonably priced. LG ac's are priced high then onida.I strongly recommend this ac.

Last year I gave a great review of Onida AC but after using it for 1 year, I changed my mind and have revised my rating from 5 star to 1 star.extremely poor customer service, no one has a clue about what they are doing. You call up the customer service they will issue ticket numbers which never get sorted. The quality went bad in 1 year. PLEASE BEWARE OF ONIDA. I MADE A MISTAKE ON THIS BRAND.


Purchased Onida 1.5 ton 3 star wifi AC, the product is very good and appears value for money. The positive - build quality appears good, the internal and the external unit is copper as opposed to alloy which some of the manufacturers use to bring the cost down. The compressor is from Hitachi and the cooling is very nice.


The wifi allows the AC to sync with multiple mobile phones once you download the Onida app. You can control the AC from the mobile phone and operate seamlessly apart from the remote.Also the app allows display of power units consumed with daily usage of AC.


Things to watch: the AC delivered the first time had some problems with wifi but the company replaced the complete unit interior and exterior without much hassles. We purchased the AC thru Ratna fan house the biggest AC shop in chennai so make sure you buy this product only from a big dealer as I suspect the smaller dealers might not be able to give good after sales support.


Initially I was a bit hesitant to buy this brand but looks like it was not a bad deal; the final price was Rs.33k including installation and the stabilizer.


I also learnt that buying a 5 star does not make much difference as the standards keep getting revised each year and the ones rated 5 star this year get re rated to 3 star if the standard changes. Also the Inverter AC is good only if the AC gets used extensively like a showroom or office. For home use of 2 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours at night a 2 or 3 star work just fine and the differentials of power usage is not big. So better to get immediate savings that come by way go lower cost of buying. Anyway to each his own and these are just my views.

We have 3 AC's from Onida which are not working and after 2.5 months of follow up there is no response. Our complaint number 150597638007C has been pending since 1 May- half of the summer has gone by but this fraud company doesn't care.


One ac leaks, the other one throws out ice and water and one makes horrible sound.


I am boycotting Onida products. It's like a govt dept - customer care to service centre to device official to another service official and then back to customer care. EXTREMELY HUMILIATING EXPERIENCE. Dilip 9810726435

EXCELLENT A/C.


EXCELLENT SERVICE.


Used to cool a 12X15 hall in my flat.Very responsive, cooling unit, Just perfect. Cooled the Hall well.


People had suggested not going for the A/c but I went for it  as it was the Cheapest option for me,


Made afternoons and nights in with Friends very memorable.

Good ac with horrible service

I have onida ac from 3 years. it cools well in the room.but one time problem happened that ac is not working. I called up their customer care.their customer care is horrible.


After loged a complaint, a person calls me after 35 days of complaint, can u belive it?


I have serviced it with outside people.


If anything happens to your product, company will not help u.


Take onida only if u have backup of ac service guys outside.


Ps: go for panasonic ac.


It is valur for money.

I had bought 3 Onida split a/cs a little over a year back. The initial glitch was the installation was not done well as there was some water leaking whenever rain came. Then the cooling was not uniform across the room. Then it had minor problems such as water leaking out from the a/c. We had to follow up several times for the service technician to come. Now warranty is over as it is past 1 year since I bought and one a/c is NOT WORKING for the past 2 months and I had tried ALL MEANS - calling up the customer care who DIDNT care, the service technician / supervisor who actually didnt deliver the service and to the contacts in the website(https://onida.com/contactus.aspx) who didnt respond.


The salesman had recommended to buy LG/Samsung. But just because I liked the ad(instant cool and some saving rupees display) and it was an Indian Company I bought 3 a/cs. It is the most idiotic decision as their service is just intolerable and pathetic.


We raised a complaint earlier in August for which we dont have the complaint number. There was no response. So I raised again a new complaint on Sep 20th.After following up several times with the service centre, The service technician came and said there is a problem with the coil. Then he took a few days to turn up with the coil after several followups. After checking with that, he said it is not the problem with the coil. It is the problem with the board. I contacted several times Thiruvenkadam 9940128565 regarding this and he said the board is not in stock and will replace when he gets it. After several followup, noone turned up. When I followed up with the customer care on 17-Oct-11, he is cooly giving me a new complaint number. I asked what happened to the old complaint. He said the technician has cancelled the old complaint. For which my obvious question was WHY? He said I should ask the service centre for this. He said he had no clue about the history of the call. I dont understand what kind of ticketing system ONIDA is using to track customer complaints. Even the most lame ones has the history of the complaint and resolution. The "customer care" executive was not even remotely apologetic or sensitive to the issue and was talking in quite a cold tone. Why do they run a CUSTOMER CARE, when they actually DONT CARE A DAMN ABOUT THE CUSTOMER?When I called, the customer care executive cut the call, the moment I asked for escalation. Second time when I called, the second customer care executive "Dinesh" said the escalation officer has not come to office. What kind of customer care office are they running? To top it, I earlier got a sms "Greetings from Onida Service. Hope our product is functioning at fullest satisfaction. We introduced attractive Extended Warranty Scheme to avail call 044-39889000". Is this some kind of idiotic joke? Ofcourse I am completely dissatisfied with their product. I am now stuck with this not working a/c as their spare is still not available for the past 3 months and those idiots wont even respond properly.

A Bad service from service center

We have purchased Onida Split a/c in TMC-Vijayawada, and we had a really bad experience with the customer-service center people here with ONIDA and even with TMC, there's no proper response from the service center. And, its been 2-months we raised a complaint. For every call of mine they will respond that today definetly attend your complait.but will fail in attending


Had a reallhy bad experience with Customer Support.


Definetly I'l not recommend this Product to any one.

Disaster from ONIDA

Really not expected this from a company like ONIDA.


My AC model number is S12SPD5 of the year 2010. An absolute disaster from ONIDA, i'm really very disappointed with ONIDA . Second day aftr purchase, my AC started making a haunting noise as a cricket would make noise. Second big disaster is the AC starts on its own without remote if its in standby mode. Explanation: At my house, once my power went off. At that time the AC was in a stanbymode. As soon as the power came back the AC was already on without the use of remote. This is a big big big manufacturing defect.


Felt like they concentrated more on display panel and not on the product. Even the Remote looks like a child's toy.


We have an LG AC and are using it for the last 1 year. Have absolutely no complaints. Really LG rocks and ONIDA sucks!!!


I won't recommend ONIDA AC's.


Sorry ONIDA, you really produced a faulty one this time!

I got this Ondia 1.5 T A/C 6 months back


Why Onida?


I got another Onida A/c for around 3yrs and its working fine, no issues so far. It is reliable, good cooling and cheap moreover Onida comes with compressors that are build by subsidiary of Hitachi know as "Highly".


Service


IDU of the new Ondia A/C was making squeaking sound after 1 month. I called the service center and they sent a technician the next day and he identified the issue to be with a "Bush", he said it needs to be replaced. Now for the replacement I had to make 3 follow up calls with service center and it took almost a week. The sound went off and so far so good.


Before buying an A/C always check as to how is the service of the particular brand in your town/city. Most of the issues related to bad cooling, water dripping, gas leakage are caused due to improper installation, so ensure that the technician leaves only after you are satisfied with the installation and cooling.


If you got extra budget, then its better to go for Hitachi, Carrier, Daikin, O General or even Voltas. These units are much better than Onida/Samsung/LG and should run without issues for 7 to 8 years but if you are looking for a decent A/C that does not burn your pocket, then go for Onida.

I was looking to buy a split AC for my 13x13 room. After doing whole lot of research on numerous sites (including mouthshut), I zeroed in on Voltas and Onida (my budget was upto 25000). And then I saw Onida's TV ad for newly launched SuperCool Series with iCool feature.


22nd March, 2010 - went to dealer (Kohli Brothers) at Prahlad Market and inquired for Voltas Vertis Plus 1.5T split and Onida S18SPD3 1.5T split (both 3 stars). Since we had already bought an LCD, a Flat T, and, an iron from dealer, and, since he saw that we had already done whole lot of research on ACs - he told us that Onida comes with the Compressor same that's used in Hitachi while Voltas come with Chinese compressor, even LG and Samsung have Korean compressor. So unlike Onida, the performance of others hammer down after 45 degrees.


The price of Onida was 500 above Voltas Vertis Plus, and 1500 above Samsung BioSleep 1.5T split.


Based on dealer reviews and my entire research, we selected Onida newly launched SuperCool range model - S18SPD3 1.5T Split.


Price - 23400 (negotiated for this)


Installation - 1500


Stabilizer (Bluebird) - 2100


Stand - 500


Final Cost - Rs. 27, 500


Installation engineers came home the same day right on time. And entire setup took place around 2.5 hrs. We tested its super cool feature, and alas, it chilled our 13x13 room in 15 mins (our room is at top floor and hence get direct sunlight, so it actually burns during Delhi's summer).


So far so good. Will update on the performance after few days.

It's been 1 yr now since I am using this AC(1.5 Ton SG18FLT). As of now I have not used any kind of service from Onida, so cannot comment on that. As far as the question of cooling and sound is concern, it's great..can chill within mnts. I live in North India and in June temp. crossed over 40 deree celcius mark.


After traveling of almost 2hrs in train from my office to home, I become all in but as soon as I start the AC, I start feeling as fresh as I was in morning. LG and Samsung are not too good and Voltas/Carrier are too dear, it is the best within this price range.Its MRP is 23, 990/- but from a known sourced a got it for Rs.20500/-.


If someone is thinking for a gud deal within 20, 000/- rage, this product will not let you down and will only make you smile. I will definately recomend.

If you ever want to go in for a Split A\C, pls take care to avoid the Onida 1.5 ton split. Not that it's performance is bad, its cooling power is awesome.................that is as long as the unit actually 'works'.


Onida has tied up with Hitachi for its outdoor unit (ODU), which means the compressor is highly effective. It is the indoor unit that gives you a hell lot of problems.


They have advertised 'L' & 'C' bend coils in their indoor units with the same problem........water leakage.


Water leakage, heavy fan noise (imagine that in a split A\C), electronic timer problem...........u name a problem and you have it in the Onida Split A\c.


Now comes the funniest part, after making a lot of noise the unit stopped one day after one year ,


The noise, presumably was from the fan in the indoor unit.I called up the technicians (artic business corp, Chennai) and they promptly took away my fan motor saying that they would replace it.


I waited, waited ...........and waited giving calls now and then.........3 weeks went by. Whenever I called in they would say that spare parts is not availabe in Onida company itself.


A manufacturing company which does not produce enough spare parts!


Finally I made the fellow give back my old motor and went to A\C fitter. He worked on the motor and rectifed the problem (he didnt even mention about replacing!) and got it working fine.


1 month went by.......the unit stopped working again.Called the new fitter and he said there was problem with board.Got that rectifed....took a week to do that.


Cost of the unit : Rs.22,000 -


Total cost of repair: Rs.3000 -


Repair frequecy: within 1 year of purchase


So, to put it simply u can go in for a higher end brand ending up paying more for once than going through this harrowing experience with a lower priced brand which does not even produce enough spare parts.

Very Noisy worse then window one

Frist impression is that it is nosier then the window AC !


never to be used in bed rooms or in any house hold purpose.


Very good for shops or offices where ambient noise level is high since it cools faster then the other brands.


Very noisy fan in any speed. it has 3 speeds. in any speed the rotation of fan is abnormally high and this makes loud Air cutting noise,


One may ask why the hell they put the fan speed so high ?


It is simple ,


If the room is bigger the strong air currents reach corner to corner and makes good marketing or sales point but practically it leaves the (R&D) unit suitable for restaurants and shops not for any house use!


Un tolerable at night when ambient noise is less.


as seems it is an old design and dumped in India from abroad.


I have two units , One makes very loud noise whenever compressor is switched on.Very high gas flowing noise comes from in door unit.


for any mode change in AC Onida R&D has chosen relays for change over and


As their r&D has Level of 43dB(A) has to choose noisy and cheap relays ,


they make 43dB(A) noise whenever the compressor is switched,


whenever the fan speed is changed.( have they heard about triac ? ssr ?)


Surprised to see the manual suggest the noise level is 43 dB (A) (A =?)


I wonder Onida has ever Done any test for this noise or the 43dB (A) shows the level of their R&D and of Marketing ?


Very poor service supports in Ahmedabad.


Trained as Deaf for this noise problem.


( I have a strong feeling that these technical people at Onida looking after AC department does belong to their Washing machine department somehow got shifted to AC department)


Lots of phone calls and email s to them , they says that it is feature and design issue they can not change it !


I feel cheated by Onida and think as a Bad company supporting Bad Dealers where figure of merit is sales!


Whish you never buy it and suggest others not to buy it before they personally test it in any location for noise .
