Model: TRACY-SA185TRC, Owned it for almost 2 years
First things first it looks very pretty - no question about it. My wife loved it, which is why we bought an Onida AC(against by better judgement) in the first place. Cooling is not spectacular but its okay and its not too loud either. My much older LG AC beats it hands down in both areas though.
I had a bad experience with Onida service when our microwave(yes their microwave Owens look great too) stopped working. After spending 4500, it still beeps every 5 seconds when its running now. Thankfully didnt have to contact Onida for the AC till a couple of weeks back.
Shifted to a new apartment 3 weeks back and called Onida for the dismantling and installation. After the obligatory 5 phone calls, someone finally came. After dismantling it, the service engineer gives me a quite of Rs.21000 for the installation(no I did not add an extra 0 by mistake) - claiming that he will need an additional 11 meters of copper tubing. I measured my house and it doesn't come to 11 meters lengthwise end to end across all rooms. I called up their office asking how the installation charge can be 75% the purchase price and the manager very kindly states that the engineer made a mistake and the charge is "only" 16500. At this point I told them to F off and called in a local AC repair guy.
Installation done and working perfectly for 2 weeks now. Cost -> 1450+ 1500 for gas refilling, because they did not pump down the unit correctly when they did the uninstallation.
I have used service support for LG(AC drain required cleaning) and Samsung(Washing Machine), the experience is not even comparable. They come in 1-2 days with just one phone call and the engineers are totally professional.
To summarize, all that glitters is definitely not worth it without reasonable service support. My Wife and I have agreed that for all future purchases, we will use our brains and not our hearts when deciding what to buy - I strongly suggest that you do the same.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
