O General ASGA18ACT 1.5 Ton 3 Star Split AC

Am sure everybody here must be aware of the best ac available i market is o general. As i have one of my relative using o general they never had any complaints. I was looking for more suggestions which can help me in getting the right product.

Please help me in getting the right product as i am getting it from my hard earned money. It will be very thankful of you. Time has been what you want me to be.feeling so faithless lost under the surface. Don't know what you're expecting of me.put under the pressure of walking in your shoes. Every step that i take is another mistake to you.

I have become so numb.

Dont buy this product anymore, because some of the products of AX series are manufactured in pondycherry

with poor quality but they fakely print manufactured from kawasaki japan.So please dont buy this product any more, and the service for this product is very poor.

Comparing to other product the cost is much higher with poor quality and some models of this product are importing from japan with low price and they sold in double the orginal rate. I feel they never worry about their customers.

My fellowmates I remainder you that dont buy this products and I am saying this from my own experience

I had purchased an original window airconditioner on 5th may 2005 from aditya refrigeration in sarvapriya vihar delhi.though I was using a hitachi at that time, i was told to go for this brand because its parent company is fujitsu, which is probably the worlds best brand in tropical airconditioning.

I had done a thorough research work before purchasing this machine, and it truly lives up to its reputation.my relatives residing I bombay, havent had any problems with it since the past 12 years.they also insisted upon me to go for this one.

And as such I f u happen to go to bahrain, dubai or any other middle east country, u will find this brand everywhere.now the biggest reason why I chose this brand was that it manufactures the best quality airconditioners, passing through the most stringent of quality tests.

No doubt, its better than any other air cinditioning brand, be it lg, blue star, samsung..now , this company doesnt believe in advertising much, since its products speak for it.

the features of this window airconditioner are-

1.full aluminium casing-therefore there is no chance of squeaking , due to extreme high temperatures

2.fire retardant components-here, the components are specially treated and then imported to india, keeping in  mind the extreme temperatures, the ac has to work in.

3.highest capacity compressor-the ac ahs a mindblowing capacity of 19789 btu, which chills the room in no time.

1. zero deration-this means that the performance wont be affected even when the ac is placed directlly under the sunlight.the opposite of this happens with all other brands.

5.highest air throw ever in the window ac category -547 cfm.now one can enjoy clast of cold air sitting in any corner of the room.

6.lowest power consumptionof 1870 watts as compared to 1950-2000 watts of all other brands, thus not burning  ur pocket

7.extremely silent working

8.the most sturdy outer casing , immune to any chemical or physical abuse

9.the only ac with a condenser protection grille to protect the coils from external damage

10.slinger fan system to splash the water on the coil, reultin in better heat dissipation, unlike air cooled machines

now, the ac looks very rugged, since it possesses those old looks.it comes in slightly yellowish colour, but the quality is reflected in the very first glimpse.this ac has now worked for almost 4 years and I havent faced any problems, except for minor mcb repair.i was so impressed by its performance, that I bought another one.one looking for the best ac, go for general as it has it all.the remote is a bit compromise, since it had a small display as compared to hitachi, but it does the work well.the ac chills the room very fast and inspite of being installed in a place where there are draughts, dust storms, etc.., none of it has affected the performance of this machine

other options are, hitachi, carrier , toshiba, mitsubishi, daikin

Nowadays, The O-General AC are having maximum no ofComplaints mostly coming(within 6 months to 1yr of Purchase and continuing beyond that in Comparison to any Other brand. So This Means hefty repair bills yr after yr.The above fact has been seen and confirmed by me with theHelp of company’s own technician. The ratio of complaint is 50:04 i.e. General: otherReputed brand ACAny body is welcome to mail Me for further details and evidence.        I Purchased an O-General window Air conditioner(1.5 Ton) Model No AXZ 18 GNNfrom: Better Deals electronics, Janakpuri, New Delhi in Sept-05 for Rs: **22, 500 On the date of purchase itself I was cheated by the Dealer by way of defective and damaged product.

I called the dealer  to replace the A/C but he refused, saying its company responsibility and a Company person will come to check it. Not satisfied, I stopped balance cheque Payment.After two days I received 2 ph calls from(Dealer) to Pay urgently.So I went there and was assured and promised by dealer  that “ A Company person will come and rectify the problem and if Not satisfied. Money will be refunded But A/C should not be installed” I Trusted them and paid Balance in cash.One Mechanic came from Virendra Refrigeration Ashok viharafter3 days.He checked A/C and gave remarks: AC is defective and damaged. But nothing was done and In spite of repeated reminders No Mechanic came from company and the AC remained uninstalled and packed  till the end of season. i.e. 3 monthsInspite of buying an expensive ac we couldn’t use it. Complaint letters/notice to the Dealer, Company were also sent but no respone. CORE centre and VOICE NGO also intervened. So AC was replaced in Jan 06+ paying Rs 500 extra. The AC was installed in june 06 and since that day onwards the AC started giving the following troubles

1)compressor was very noisy and overall also it was making  various types of noises and vibrations increasing on auto cut off and auto start, 2) cooling was also less. 3)Electricity consumption was 2000 to 2100 watts instead of 1870 watts as told by the dealer, company and according to the brochure.After repeated phone calls and reminders tovirendra refrigerationone mechanic came after 12 days and gave remarks: compressor noise and told me compressor is defective. They never gave me any complaint no’s inspite of repeated requests  So I called General company Who sent a technician after 10 days and He told  compressor needs to be replaced. I was surprised and insisted for AC replacement/refund by again sending complaint letters/notices but they refused. I waited helplessly till one month and was compelled to get the compressor replaced. It took about 15 days for compressor to arrive from Chennai and finally compressor was replaced by the company through their Franchisee: Which was **worse then a local workshop.

But, new problems erupted following compressor replacement as mentioned below:

1)The electricity consumption  increased significantly after replacement  since  now  it’s consuming 2500watts(minimum) to more then 2700watts per hour  with a voltage of 240 and  220volts respectively and running current varying between 11 to 11.8 amperes.  Whereas prior to replacement the consumption was: 2000 to 2200 watts with voltage: 240 and 220 watts and running current was 9.7 to 10.6 Amp as checked and mentioned by the company technician and now he says 1amp variation is normal.

2)**This high electricity consumption is resulting in overheating of  the mains MCB, wiring of AC power point and tripping of it’s own MCB repeatedly e.t.c. due to which 3 MCB’S including wiring to AC  have been changed so far but still the problem exists. This problem of overheating  and tripping was absent prior to replacement and since installation. Consequently I have stopped    using the AC since then to prevent excessive units consumption/Hefty electricity bills and avoid any incident leading to fire.

After compressor replacement the company stopped listening to me and instead criticized me and technician talked rudely Since warranty on AC was near to expiry. So  a final Notice/complaint to the Company and dealer was sent for replacement of AC/refund.But they never responded, so I decided to approach the consumer forum and at present the matter is in the forum.*

Some other Important points:

a)**Technical specifications have not been mentioned anywhere in the operating manual, carton i.e.: Wattage consumption, Compressor  B.T.U  e.t.c. as I was told by the dealer and a company person that capacity is 19800 B t u and watts consumed= 1870W.

Although Amperes consumed mentioned in the unit is 10.2/9.7amp, which was true prior to compressor replacement but after replacement it’s: 11/11.8 amp under the same voltage and temperature conditions.

So according to company technician, If this is a Normal variation, then the company should mention this or change the figures e t c.It means customer is being cheated, misguided verbally due to false claims/information given by the Company and Dealers.*

b)Regarding high capacity: 19800 B T U compressor, as claimed by the company, The company technician had no answer as to why it’s giving a grill temp(cooling temp at grill) of 11 to 11.5 Celsius  as compared to any other brand of 18000 B.t.u AC with a grill temp of 7 to 9* Celsius  e.g. LG, VOLTAS e.t.c. under the same room temperature and outdoor temp.*

c)**The Company and dealers have no policy of giving any complaint no. The Company, Auth dealers have no concern for the customer whatsoever.

The company technician says: In the whole Delhi the company has not more then 4 to 5 service dealers and the company branch itself has just 2 to 3 technicians. Also the company has no control over It’s dealers Since they give the sales targets.*

SINCERE ADVICE: Please don’t go for GENERAL.They are cheating people in the name of a reputed international brand. Once it was a good quality product, but now It’s an inferior quality AC with pathetic service support. Trust me I have confirmed the findings. Don’t waste money in buying this expensive AC.Save up to Rs 10k in buying any other 1.5tn brand

ALSO:Please don't buy AC/ Any Product from Better Deals electronics Janakpuri New Delhi and Virendra refrigeration Ashok vihar as they indulge in unfair trade practices and once you contact them after purchasing a product they talk rudely and turn deaf. Both of them are the worst dealers in Delhi.

*IF Anybody is still interested in buying GENERAL, better buy it frm Grey Mkt for Rs17000(1.5tn)+remote because in any case you won't get proper services+warranty benefits even if purchased from AUTH dealer also for Rs 24k.

Mouth shut reviews really gave me enough help to select the model according to my room.

I did not go for split AC's since I did not want any construction and pipes to be seen in my drawing rooms. But people who already had pre-constructed/fitting for splits in their rooms should consider for split also In drawing rooms. (Less Noise looks more elegant)

My drawing room space is 22ft by 11ft square feet.

I have limited space of installing AC in corner of my drawing room at the extreme left position. I would like to pick only from Hitachi, O'General, and Daikin. Since other products does have that much reputation in the market. Moreover they consume more electricity. Hitachi AC (Rs 22500) are quite impressive and lesser expensive than OGenaral (Rs23500). But Hitachi has 2 window Ac models:- One is Standard (LogiCool) and other is Quadricool was not fit enough in my room Hitachi Standard Ac has Air blowers from Left Hand side only. Again in the Qaudricool, the air flow comes from both sides. Daikin does not produced windows AC's. So my only choice of left was O'general as this is premium product. It specifications are:

9.7/10.2 AMP (Con) (Consumes little more Electricity than Others. This factor also depends upon climactic conditions. If Outside temp is low, then 9.7 Amp if Outside temp is higher more pressure on Compressor, thus more electricity. Still bit on higher side)

10.58 EER (Best in Market {better than Hitachi---10.5})

547 CFM (Pros) (Air flow--Better for longer rooms). Some people may not like Higher CFM since air flow is quite high.

It a Japanese product imported from Thailand. Hitachi Products/Compressors are made in Jammu and Kashmir although they follow Japanese standards. Hitachi have high range of temperature 16 - 32 Degree Celsius Where O'general have 18-32. I would have gone for Hitachi since these compressors are made in India according to Indian Conditions but it was not fit for location in my room. If you have not location problem, then go for Hitachi AC's{Videocon, Haier Ac also use Hitachi Compressors}. General AC has some extra noise also.

Since many years, Assembled AC's which mostly uses Naploean Kit's used to Match thier Ac looks with General AC. O General Ac is quite old company and you can rely on this company for future.

Imp Note: - All AC's have got either one type of compressors:-Reciprocatory or Rotatory. All companies mostly sell/promote Rotatory Compressors AC's due to their low cost. Reciprocatory Compressors are quite expensive. But it has some advantages over Rotatory Compressors. Rotatory compressors are not repairable. They stop working beyond certain temperature E.g.43 Degree. Reciprocating does not stop event at high Degree temp Oustide. This General AC has rotatory Compressor. So Also look for this point while you buying AC. Mostly people ignore this point and buy Rotatory Compressor AC.

Hello everybody,

Though I have been using the services of Mouthshut for about 2 years, this is my first review about a product. I purchased an O General 1.5 ton window AC (AXZ 18) last week, after having reviewed many established brands in the market. After my first round of review, I was planning to buy a LG machine, primarily for the following reasons.

a. Relatively low prized

b. Modern look

c. No.1 in terms of quantity of sales

But after my second round, I decided to switch over to O General. The features of OG made me to change my decision though the prize is a bit high as compared to other machines. But it is worth it. In fact every dealer told me that in terms of quality OG is the number one irrespective of whether the dealer sells OG or not. Indeed, after having purchased it, I am completely satisfied with this product.

Main features:

Its power in British thermal unit (BTU) is 19800, way higher than all other brands. (Usually 18000 BTU is considered as 1.5 ton – hence, OG gives more cooling). It is air circulation in high mode (measured in cubic feet per minute) is 547 which is again way ahead than other machines. (A LG 1.5 ton machine’s air throw is between 470 – 500 CFM) and its moisture removal rate is as good as any other brand in the market. More than that it consumes less power and gives you more cooling. The energy efficiency ratio (EER) is 10.58 for a rotary compressor and 9.90 for the reciprocatory compressor. (EER is calculated as Cooling Capacity (BTU/Hr.) /Power consumption (Watts/Hr.)) Again all other brands can offer between 9.0 to 9.75 EER, OG saves your money in terms of EB charges in the long run.

Above all the features, one thing which made my decision to swing over to OG was its low deration factor. It is measured as the temperature in the X axis and the cooling efficiency in the Y axis. If there is no deration, the cooling efficiency is constant even the mercury touches 45o C. Most of the machines in the market have high deration factor, i.e. as the temperature raises the cooling efficiency drops. It is because of this with other brands of machines we feel the cooling efficiency in summer is not that high as it used to be in winter. Hence, OG is the top selling brand in Middle East where the mercury touches 500C often.

Besides that OG machines are sturdy that they can withstand the extremes of temperature. Its front and rear side fins are so strong. But the fins are very thin with most of the other brands.

Most of the brands have a lot of models, (LG has about 20 models) even their dealers don’t know which models they sell. But OG has very few models and hence, you always get the spare parts whenever you are in need of them. (The OG Dealer told me you will never need them for another 10-15 yrs) In fact they have not changed its design for so many years. One reviewer cited this as a bad feature in OG, but I strongly recommend OG if you are quality conscious.

Its almost 1 1/2 year after using the product but no problems till date. Its super fast chilling makes actually put off te A/c after 2 hours or put it on the auto mode wherein it shuts down every 10 mins and then restarts.

After a year the air swing mechanism was making a little noise, when the service was due the mechanic applied some solution to it so the dirt is removed and movement is done freely as a result the noise went off.

Kick A** product buy it. I bought for a discounted price at 26000 less 1500 rs discount ( read below for more) and a 2 yr free service. This was on 6th nov 2003, a 1.5 ton rotary compressor with remote model.

Had ordered for a brand new O General wireless remote a/c on the first of nov. 2003 and requested thedelivery on the 5th of novemeber 2003.

The distibutor Mr. Parag of the Prabhadevi Branch, Mumbai promised it would reach us by that date. After repeated follow ups it did reach at 5 p.m. however, when my father saw the model number it wasnt the one we palced an order for. It was a 1.5

ltr recipocatary compressor model instead of the hyper rotary. And the worst thing was it was filled with croakroaches my whole society was infested with it. It took the effort of 3 people and loads of baygon spray to those insects under control.

Moreover, we had also a carpenter and electrician called over for the installation. We had to pay them unneccesarily for that day as they had sent the wrong model.

They said a new model will come tommorow.My mother personally called them up and told on Peddar Road they dont allow heavy vehicles after 4 p.m. so come by 2 p.m. Mr sunil, the dispatch person at the factory of Ogeneral it will be done. It became 4 p.m. then 4:30 p.m. yet no sign. We called up the ever efficient people and oh!sorry it has been dispatached but no clue where it is stuck up. My mother fired him for this irresposible answers she took down the number of the temp chap.

Called him up personally. ''Sorry madam wrong number'' was the answer from the oppsite end. She then fired him and they said that they were stuck up at Nanachowk and will get the a/c tommorow as the cops wont allow them to enter. She said she had already hinted about this to them but still they want to screw up this way? She said get the thing in a taxi. Phew atlast it came. Guess what now it is the wrong model again. This time it is a rotary compressor without a remote. Called up Mr. Parag the distributor he had shutdown the mobile phone and this Mr. sunil at factory oh!god again wrong model Iwill look into it.

Get lost dude give the money back dont want it will buy it from the grey market will be cheaper and they turn no leaf unturned in getting the A/c back.

We then contacted Mr. manoj - the sales manager who begeed for forgivness and said tomm 100% a brand new original piece will reach at 2 p.m.

The piece finally arrived and as a compensation we got 1500 rupees off and 2 year free service.

The General of all Air conditioners. This is one hardcore piece of machinery. Many vow by an OGeneral inspite of the onslaught of Newer Companies such as LG and Samsung. The 1.5 tonne is in a class of its own.

As for features it has none. Maybe the SuperWave is one feature which FujitsuGeneral raves about, but its not that great as all air conditioners can sweep cold air to different parts of the room or keep your fan on.(Same concept). The AirFilter is very easy to access and can be easily cleaned ( unlike my Sharp ). The compressor is the best in the business. It is so good that the company has put a 5 year warranty on it with an additional 5 year warranty on extra payment. Since the compressor is an efficient one, its power consumption is also comparatively low. Does make more noise though than my National Air conditioner. I know this machine can work non-stop for 5 years continuously cause that exactly what my client has put it through. Their AC has been running 24 hrs a day, 365 days for 6 years running (since their storage compartment needs a certain temperature). The only time they’ve switched it off is when it needs to be serviced. Try doing that with your present Air conditioner.

My only gripe being that it has no features at all. One certainly requires a remote(just to switch it off in the middle of the night when every part of your body has frozen up), digital adjustments ( it has analog one’s), climate control , timer control ( incase you want it switched on/off at a specific time without you physically doing it – switching that is ),anti-bacterial filter(protect u against SARS - Co. states that they have a filter,i can't find one though - just a normal filter present). Finally this model needs a design change (same since the ‘80s). Can’t they design Airconditioners which do not look like airconditioners in the first place. Specially window Airconditioners are a interior decorator’s nightmare. The only option being getting a Split.

Would certainly end with that u’ll never be unhappy with this Air conditioner provided u’ve not seen the features of any LG, then u might want an LG.
