Quadri-cool !!!!
May 27, 2009 10:51 PM 9718 Views

After a lot groundwork & careful scrutiny of all the popular brands of window a\c. I narrowed my choice to o'general & hitachi quadricool.

though I was circumspect on choosing hitachi after reading reviews in this forum I took it up with my dealer who convinced me that most of them have been rectified.

Advantages:

  1. quadricool tm with the twin motor tech cuts your electricity bill substantially

  2. cooling is efficient

  3. as the air vents are placed in both the right & left corners there is an wider range of distribution of the cooled air.

4.Kaimin mode - increases the temp by 1 deg every hour . using this mode during night , increases the room temp as the ambient air temp drops . thus preventing the discomfort of a cold draft in the small hours

4.pleasing aesthetics

Disadvantages

  1. dimensions are slightly larger than the conventional window a/c's of same capacity. it might be difficult to install it in previously fixed ac grills.

  2. it is not as silent as it is claimed to be. especially when there are voltage fluctuations, the motor restarts with clatter which is bound to get on your nerves.

  3. the display is off the wall- it does not show the temprature but only the mode and fan speed .everytime you want to know what temp has been set you have to hunt for the remorte.

4.the remote has a panel which has to be flipped open for most of the operations & is of a tacky quality.

A caveat during installation- a wooden block provided in the packing to protect the compressor has

to removed before mounting it on your wimdow.

so far I have not had any frivolous problems which vindicates the claim of my dealer that they have been rectified.

cannot comment about the quality of after sales service as I have not needed one so far.

hope this review had been worth the salt & has helped you decide on buying it or scratching it off your fav list.

Worst after sales service among AC

Date: May 20, 2009

Sub: Third WET service not received and complain is pending from last 1 monthRef: Model no. RAV014EM021, MACHINE NO. 080D16547

*Compressor number 601308015735, fan motor no – C08FA0008111

*I ave purchased above mentioned machine from Khoshla electronics, Hazra, Kolkata on 6/05/2009 and was installed at 16/05/2009. The problem arises from 20th april 2009 when there was some noise coming out from the AC. We have complained the same to your service centre M/s mullick air conditioning co. P limited on 24th april 2009 . The Receptionist confirm the complaint and gave me complain number 345 and said it will be attended within 2 days . But till date neither the complain is attended nor the wet service is done . All I get some complain number(550 in the next case) whenever I called up .

Sir I have 7 AC in my home and whenever I call them they turn up in 2 days days .But in your case I must say that your agent is totally incompetent to handle the amount of calls . I would like you to look into the matter and do the needful

Thanking you,

Hitachi, the worst after sales service provider
May 08, 2009 08:39 PM 8901 Views

After my extremely bad experience with the company service center, I had written a mail to the executives. Here, I am jotting down the same for others to consume.

Hitachi Quadicool: Very Good AC

Value for Money: Fair

After Sales Service: Probably the worst in the reputed company list

*To Whomever it may concern, Hitachi-India is the worst after sales service provider I have ever come across in India.

*You claim to be having the best AC (debatable though!!!) but surely one of the worst after sales service.

I have purchased a Quadrillion last year (paid about 25K). This year itself, it started giving cooling problems. For the same I registered a complaint (Complain No. 096090581735) on 3-May-2009 but the same is yet to be completed. Your service executives keep on giving false promises. **I think this is probably a part of their recruitment training.

*I have following points for your consumption:

  1. First time, the CSR informed that the problem will be addressed within 48 hours though the first visit by the technician happened only on 06-May-2009 and that too after frequent follow-ups from our side. [Also, we had to call 4-5 times for this visit. What a response........]

  2. The technician who came informed that there is some problem with the pipes in the AC. Another person will come and pick-up the AC for repair and return the same within 1 day. Till date no one has arrived. Now I am afraid of even handing the AC to them as Am not sure what will be after they will take away the AC. [By the way, your technician gave such a ridiculous explanation for the pipe problem, putting the blame on Dwarka water. Am not sure where in the world we put water in the AC].

  3. So after waiting for another 2 days, since no one arrived, today (08-May-2009) again I followed-up with your service centre (CSR: Mr. Prakash) who informed that they have asked another dealer to tackle the issue. This dealer was supposed to take away the AC by 8 PM. Its past 8:00 PM now and there' no trace of anyone. [By the way, the experience with this CSR was also very bad. On the first call, he promised, he will call back with 15 mins after checking with the dealer. No call. After 1 hour when I called up, he said he is checking and will get back within 30 mins. Again no call. Again.... Again.....]

  4. I have one very simple question for you guys. Why do you sell your appliances in the Indian market if your company doesn't have the capability to provide after sales service?

  5. Now, I am trying to figure out the person who recommended your company AC to me. **Believe me, at least I will help others in choosing a better company, if not AC.

I am expecting a reply, though with my experience, I know this is a sheer wastage of time.

Hitachi: "Inspire the Next. Whatz that?????"

*Cheers (Nothing like that though)

Best AC with Worst Service

Quadricool TM 1.5 Ton Window AC

When I went to purchase an Air Conditioner for my house in Gurgaon, I was thrown up to a lot of brands / models by the dealer. He was all praise for all the brands that he had in his showroom. He highlighted uniqueness of every brand(be it their prices / services / compressor type, etc.). I remember, he said “Sir, Hitachi is costlier than any other brand but It will be the most cool in peak Delhi summer. People use it for years & he hasn’t yet heard any complaint.”

We put forward INR 28000 of our hard earned money at that dealer & brought home the chilling Hitachi Quadricool TM 1.5 ton window AC on that memorable day of 30th March, 2008.

I was surprised with the results it delivered. I was proud of owning such a good machine. Soon, the peak summer was over. We switched of our AC after October in Delhi . Later in early 2009, my wife & I were thinking to let our machine serviced. I got my first service(wet service) on 15th March, 2009. Soon, after the service, when we started using our AC, cooling effect went on reducing each passing day.

On 29th April, 2009 after almost an hour of turning on the machine, we noticed it was not offering a cool air flow any more. Suspecting a problem, I immediately called up to Hitachi help line on 30th April, 2009. On may 1st, the service technician from Garhwal Aircon arrived & I was told that a gas leak had occurred in my AC. Completely surprised to learn this, I suspected the mishandling / damage caused during the last service I had from this Hitachi service center guys.

*I believe I had no such problem with my machine till the date it was serviced by technicians of Gharwhal Aircon, Gurgaon. They may have mishandled the machine during servicing or might have installed it the wrong way so that the Gas Leak occurred. Now, for just checking the cause, they have charged me INR 350.(Now my machine’s warranty period is over.) Service center owner now asks for INR 2500(more) for getting my machine back to good service condition. Service dealer is not willing to accept any responsibility for mishandling by his staff. I expect Hitachi to investigate the qualification & reports of the person who serviced my machine on 15-03-09.

I have raised the issue with the company service management & waiting for their reply. This is just to inform others buying Hitachi ACs to take its After sales service into consideration. Machine is of best quality but it has not been backed by best AS & S.

Post- 3yr review- quadricool
Apr 29, 2009 01:22 PM 5968 Views

We think buying expensive thing and branded name will give piece of mind, but when they fail to match the expectation they hurt u the most.

That applys to the this hitachi ac. when I bought it showed lots of feature especailly kaimin etc, but its like our old Indian team(not current one) good on paper, but worst on field.

Worst thing is its remote. on brochure its written ergonimacally designed remote, I laugh at myself, ergonomical...my foot. its wrost design, not only worst design but functinality also. u dont know which mode u are running or change it it on one go. it breakdowns regually. I have changes 3 remotes uptill now, and its cost dear 12oo to 1500. the displays on ac are also very funny, it doesnt tell u exactly what is going on.

I am using voltas at office since last five years and believe me they are funcatinally much better, I dont know how much good they are conumption wise, but they are much easy to use and good on performance.I came to this site becasue I m planning to buy new split for home, and thought let me share this long term review of hitachi.

Hitachi Quadricool TM very poor build quality
Feb 06, 2009 07:54 PM 8405 Views

I bought HitachiQuadricool TM 1.5 ton window air conditioner after a lot of comparison with other machines based technical information on internet and product brochures from the dealer

M/s Shyam Enterprises, Bhilai(Durg) on 30th Jan 09. However to my disappointment the machine from the day one suffers from manufacturing defects. The control panel transparent cover does not close and the horizontal air delectors would come off their mountings when tried to adjust.

Quality of plastic of front grill is poor considering the cost of machine. even the quality of fastners of machine pathetic( dont expect crome plated fastners), finish of remote hand set is not up to the mark. The machine shakes inside the chasis when the comprerssor & condensor fan runs and make you enjoy the sound of a railway train in your room.

On making complaints the service personnel visited and tried to dampen vibration buy inserting some wooden packing but it did not work. ( the fool thought he could take me for a ride). I specifically pointed to him the vibration/ shaking of condensor fan motor and was told that the problem would be told to his superiors ..only God knows who they are and when would they respond.

This is supposed to be the one of costliest window air conditioner and what an apprecialble quality control practice of Hitachi......better to buy a carrier or voltas...if at all one decides to buy any product from this company dont make payments until the machine is installed and running to your satisfaction. If you think your money is hard earned and precious dont buy a hitachi product.

Hitachi Quadricool TM!!!
Dec 13, 2008 11:12 AM 6061 Views

I hope you all are doing fine!

This is my feedback towards Hitachi's best, most selling and expensive Window AC Quadricool TM. We have purchased this product from M/S Electricity, Galleria shopping complex, Gurgaon in the month of March 2008.

In the month of May 2008 this AC stopped cooling. We have reported the same to service center. As per them the GAS was empty. We did not know the real problem behind it but as per them while installing the AC, gas pipe has been damaged and the leakage happened. They took our AC to service station, repaired the damage and filled the GAS again.

After the AC came back to us one can hear the extreme noise of AC from far away. We again reported the same to the service center. After since they rectified the problem, our AC is making noise on a regular interval. After two months our AC stopped cooling again. This time there was a short-circuit to the connecter which supplies power to the compressor.

What we think that the goodwill of Hitachi is so high that no one is bother for the quality of the product. The peoples are buying the product because somewhere they know that they will get the good quality of the product no matter what the price is.

But after buying a product like we did, they are in a complete mess like us. Sorry to say but your product does not work as Hitachi claims.

Mumbai India
Sub standard quality of Hitachi Quadricool-TM
Sep 30, 2008 09:39 AM 6953 Views

Bought very expensive 1 ton Quadricool Twin Motor top of the line window Air Conditioner 2.5 yrs back. The A.C technician while installing informed me about problem Printed circuit board (PCB) used by Hitachi in this particular model, but I did not believe him (could be some rare cases)  since Hitachi is a reputed Japanese company. Unfortunately after the initial one year the PCB has burnt out twice (just after warranty period).

The authorised repairing agency in Mumbai "National Aircon" charges Rs.2250 + visiting charges each time for replacing the PCB with no warranty on replaced part. HAve spent about Rs.5000 on twice replacing PCB of A.C less than 3 yrs old. My other cheaper A.C's Samsung (4yrs old) and Voltas (2 yrs old) are working without any problem, how come Hitachi is selling substandard products in India without any bother to its reputation.

Wanted to sell it but got offer of about Rs.4000/- only. I feel cheated by Hitachi for selling me a lemon and not reponding to my complaints on their India and Global websites feedback/contact section. Moral of the story Japanese quality are no longer what they used to be and instead the Koreans/Indians are better and cheaper to maintain. No Hitachi for my friends and family forever.

Buy Hitachi only if you are ready to pay heavy maintenance if starts going bad.Update October 2010:- The fan motor capacitor became faulty. This time I found the technicians to be very professional who attend on a timely schedule @ reasonable price. I learn that now Hitachi has company owned customtakeouter service support at Mumbai . The service experience this time was top notch & very satisfying. Hopefully Hitachi product have become more reliable as well.

Hitachi quadricool tm-the allrounder
Jul 20, 2008 09:39 PM 8732 Views

This is going to be my second review after  ogeneral AXZ18 GNN-W. I just have faith in these 2 brands cause I have used them and they are the best in their category.

I  am already  using a hitachi airconditioner RAA18CP4 logicool I celebration and an ogeneral as I mentioned earlier.

Though there is a problem of gas leakage in our locality, i had to bear the brunt in both the above mentioned cases of acs. I had bought this hitachi ac in 2003 from noida's KAYDEE AUDIOVISIONS.

In 2004 the gas leaked and my ac was taken to the workshop of hitachi.when returned ;it had the fan blade broken, base plate scratched , and the fins twisted.god knows how they handle the ac.

I then made a complaint , and the parts were changed without any hassle.but now 6 yrs down the line, my hitachi ac is working perfectly fine, which forced me to go for another ac from hitachi's stable-the new QUADRICOOL TM RAV19EOD.

I wanted to go in for a cheap one this time , due to the gas leakage problem in my locality, but that cheap ac would have costed me more in terms of running costs.i had already made up my mind to go in for samsung, but when I saw these 2 machines from inside, i could only see plastics in samsung.as such it was of a very small size[even the 1.5] , and I was rest assured that it wouldnt withstand exteme high temperatures, dust storms, sun light which my hitachi and ogeneral have been doing.i myself asked the salesman, even he was of the opinion that hitachi and general werent comparable in performance[that sales person happened to be from samsung plaza, noida sector-18]

this ac is very elegant to look at.it has a beautiful front panel .cooling is good at 19000btu with high eer of 10.6.the room is chilled within a short span , though we use it on low speed.19000 btu is a bit higher than 1.5 ton, but really helps in delhi as my old hitachi ac with 18000 btu takes more time to cool during peak summers, unlike quadricool and ogeneral.

the only problem I faced while installing it was its depth of the cabinet .its too long and looks odd from the outside, thats probably because it houses two fan motors.

its better than others because-

  1. twin motors-help in dissipating heat at a faster rate unlike conventional acs.

2.twin turbo fans-work at higher rpm with lowest noise levels  of 43db

3.blue fins-help prevent corrosion

4.dual air discharge ports-better circulation of air

5.slinger fan-improves efficiency of the ac by splashing condensate water on the coils to cool them

6.highest air flow of 550 cfm

7.lowest noise levels

8.stringent quality tests.

9.feature packed lcd remote with  backlight

10.lowest power consumption of 1800 watts.

11.highest moisture removal of 3.5 lts

the best part of all hitachi acs is that they carry large no of features and modes to give u customised cooling.unique feature is the kaimin i.e. the night mode which increases the temperature by 1 degree every hour.it has self diagnosis function and the display panel on the ac gives u complete info about ac's state of working.AFTER the compressor gets cut off many times, while restarting it makes some noise.i have even noticed it in my previous hitachi ac , but thats bearable.this ac is very silent while working .the good part is that hitachi is backed by excellent after sales service.i purchased this ac for 26000 , equivalent to ogeneral.

trust me OGENERAL AND HITACHI, BOTH ARE EQUIVALENT IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE, BUT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE LATTER IS GOOD LOOKING, IS FEATURE PACKED AND POSSESSES THE UNIQUE TWIN MOTOR TECHNOLOGY GIVING U THE BENEFITS OF A SPLIT AC.

now if you r a quality concious consumer and want the best cooling, go for any of the above mentioned brands [HITACHI and OGENERAL] cause there isint much price difference.dont be fooled by advertisments of other brands as they are least bothered of what they make.if you want cheap ac with good performance, u could go in for carrier and whirlpool.

thanks , and please rate my review or leave a comment so that I may make changes which u all want.

Quadricool - real cool
Jun 04, 2008 06:17 PM 5184 Views

I bought my AC at the beginning of this year. Sometimes in Jan 2008. Actually my cooler which was only two seasons old, had given away. Paints were wearing off, and rust had eaten all the metal owing to the high salt content of our water supply. I figured if I had to buy a cooler every two years then perhaps buying an AC would be much cheaper.

so I started my research. the hardcore engineer types were recommending to go for a good assembled one. complete kit is available in market, chawri bazar, new delhi. there are various makes and brand available. or you can buy individual parts of different make. it shall cost you around 12000-15000 for all the good class components. A mechanic shall charge 1500 to assemble and fix. so, your AC can be ready in Rs18000/- . but it has a big drawback. it shall have no warranty.

No customer support, no services. Which can be a huge problem. though there are AC mechnics in almost all locality, but they can not be trusted. I dropped this idea of assembling on account of this only. otherwise I had made a trip to chawri bazar also for the purchases.

then came the option for the branded ones. voltas, samsung, godrej, videocon all these have window ac starting from 16000/-. but they are all B grade AC, not lasting more than 4-5 years. in this range, voltas is considered best value for money. others are also selling.

on top range, there is O'general and Hitachi. O'genral is considered the best in all type of climatic conditions and was priced also little less than Hitachi's Quadricool. But the retailer ( Navrang of Laxmi Nagar, east delhi) warned me against their poor coustomer care.

this quadricool model has some good feature like dual motor and night sleep.

So, ultimately we opted for this one, which costed us 24, 000/-. 500/- extra for fixing.

This is one purchase, we are very satisfied with. Cooling is superb. controls are very easy. We run AC mostly during the night. average usages is around 6-8hr per day on week days and 12-14hrs on weekends. last two months (Aprl and May) electricity bill was around 2700/- as against 1300/- of last years.

so, electricity consumption is also not very much.

I did a lot of research on various sites before I got thoroughly confused and just went with the costliest option i.e. Hitachi. I am not sure if Hitachi really would live up to the price expectations.

I bought Hitachi Quad TM 1.5 and it started giving problems in firt month itself. It creates a vibrating noice during compressor statup and shutdown and shakes the whole window, it wakes me up at least 2-3 time at night.

I am not sure why this can not be fixed by Hitachi. What came as a bigger shock to me was that the AC stopped cooling, I have used O General, LG, Onida, Assembled but none of these AC's gave me any problems in first three years,  and Hitachi was the most expensive one stopped cooling in just 4 weeks. The service center engineer told me that this might happen in 1 out of 100 AC's, it was a manufacturing defect of Gas leakage.

I actually bought an Onida after I bought Hitachi, and here is why I took this decision -

  • How much time would your AC run in a season, if its less than 3 months and one an average 5-6 hours a day, you may not really care too much about Energy Efficiency, what big deal if you are able to save 1000-1500 Rupees in a season, You would be paying arond 7-8 K extra for Hitachi/OGgeneral. But yes if you are a nature friendly person, go for a AC with an Energy efficiency of more than 10.

  • Mositure control - Do you really live in a highly humid environment ? If not, what's the worth. Infact, I would not want my AC to suck the entire humidity of my room and leave us with dry skiin and eyes next morning.

  • Cooling - This is an important point and most of us buy expensive AC's because of cooling capacity and effectiveness. Let me accept here that I am not a technical person, but these are the basic asumptions and criteriaes that I considered -

a) If your room is smaller than the recommended size for the specified power of AC, (e.g. if 1.5 tonne AC is appropriate for x square feet room and your room is less than that), than you would not worry to much about cooling capacity because all the ACs would be equally effective (with minor variations). The difference between a good AC and not so good AC would be the time it takes to cool the room and hence save power, but both will cool the room ith equal efficiency

b) If our room is slightly larger than the recommended size, then go for the AC with best cooling capacity and Energy efficiency.

  • Service - I have used Hitachi service once, I think they are trying to do their best. I logged  a complaint which was attended the same day (though I had to call up the service center a few times) and my faulty unit was replaced in 4 working days. I would call it as a decent after sales service. but LG, Onida would probably give much better service. may be becaue you may need it more often after a few years of operation. I found the Hitachi service guy more professional than an LG one. May be just a sheer chance.

Closing thoughts  -

  • If your AC starts leaking gas, your better get it replaced if it is under first year of warranty. Once this problem starts there is no end to this.

  • If you personally know someone who assembles AC, explore that option, get the best parts assembled at the lowest price, but you need to ensure that you get service from that assembler.

  • It doesn't matter which dealer you buy the AC from, service in directly given by service center. So go for the best price.

Buying a Hitachi Quadricool is worse than marrying
May 27, 2008 11:35 PM 5768 Views

I booked 2 Quadricool 1.5 TM AC's in Summer Cool Exhibition in Chandigarh. Even before 1 month of its installation it started giving me problems. I contacted Hitachi Customer Care and they sent a Service Engineer to my place. The service engineer on expectation recommended that I should get this AC replaced as their is some serious problem with the Air Conditioner .

We requested company officials but they have refused to replace the AC  unit inspite of recommendation from Service Engineer. Their has been a major gas leakage from the AC and now even after repair I am not satisfied with the product as the output of the product has drastically dropped. I even mailed customer care of Hitachi but no one cares to respond. I will suggest everyone who is thinking of buying hitachi AC this summer to switch to National, General, Carrier or Bluestar but dont go for Hitachi.

The best so far
Apr 17, 2008 03:26 AM 5195 Views

My take on Hitachi Air Conditioners:

In 2006, I bought a Hitachi Window 1.5 T Quadricool Twin Motor AC. The specs were too compelling to be ignored. As the launch had not yet happened, I spoke to the company, and bought it from Hitachi directly.

I was not disappointed. Performance blew away the competition. Set at an energy-saving 25 degrees, it made the room cold enough to require a comforter during Mumbai summer nights. And the impact on electricity bills… most of my neighbours were paying in excess of ?4, 000 pm, while we were cool and comfortable, and paying about ?1, 200 pm(up from ?790 without AC).

The AC is still running, quietly, 10 years later. But there is a flip side, and that is Service & Support…

Initially, Hitachi used to outsource their Service to local ‘mistry’ shops. By the third warranty servicing, they had managed to break off most of the plastic louvre nobs, bent the cooling fins(palms pressed flat against the fins, to push the AC back into its housing), and broken all the plastic clasps of the grill. Hitachi responded that ‘plastic parts are not covered in warranty’, and ignored the fact of gross mishandling.

At the last warranty take-down service(wet), the ‘mistry-s’ shorted the AC’s PCB. Hitachi said warranty was over, and since I did not have an AMC to cover the replacement, payment was demanded. I called the Service Head and gave him a piece of my mind. Within a few days, he came over personally, with the replacement, and had it fixed. Also took a cheque for AMC.

Thereafter, there was a gas leak(?2, 700), PCB malfunction(?3, 000), plus Comprehensive AMC costs(approx. ?2, 400 p.a) every year. Unluckily for me, the problems would happen in-between AMCs, so I had to pay. Nowadays, Hitachi says they have their own technicians; I have not noticed any difference in the quality of service from the previous outsourced mistry-level.

As I look back, I’ve spent almost the same amount as the buying price for the AC’s upkeep. For the last 2 years, I’ve decided to go to my neighbourhood AC guy, and pay a substantially lower sum for problems.

The question is, would I buy another Hitachi AC? Technically, there’s no question about the performance of its top-end split ACs. The issue is Support, and that should give you some pause…

Review on Hitachi 1.5 Ton. Quadricool(RAV019EKD)

I replaced my old National 1.5 ton AC with Hitachi Quadricool. Having used Carrier, National previously, I knew what quality means and therefore set aside LG, Samsang, etc.

I limited myself to choose from O General and Hitachi. Before, I mention the reasons for buying Hitachi, let me mention few points about O General.

O General:This AC is very robust.

Pros:

  • Fit it and forget it. By touching it you can feel the strength.

  • Time tested machine.

-Unprofessional dealer and matching officers of O General.

Cons:     -Dated looks.

-Digital operation is relatively new.

-The Main Dealer in Goa is not keen in selling O General Window AC.(Selection of dealer is not proper)

Technologically, the digital operation is relatively new in General. The sleep mode resets in case of power failure and needs to be restarted after power restores(Personally did not verify it. Based on user’s feedback).

Auto Service – Consumex which is a main dealer in Goa for “O General” does not recommend buying it and instead recommends buying a split LG. However, knowing General, I still placed an order for 1.5 Ton AC which they promised to be delivered within a five days. After about 20 days, due to frustration of not delivering it, cancelled the order.(I can share the detailed email conversation if anyone wants it)

The funniest reason given for delay by Mr. Jaffer(Manager Sales) of “O General”, Bangalore is as a dispatch clerk is on leave.  Too un-professional isn’t it?.

Hitachi:Left with no choice, decided to buy Hitachi. Fitted at home the next day of the order. This was blessing in disguise!.

Pros:

-Really Beautiful( Bi series). Stunning dual air flow.

-Super silent. I have to actually see green compressor icon on the display to know if it is running.

-Kaimin type of facility is a must for any AC’s if you don’t want to be chilled in the morning.(visit Hitachi site to know more)

-There are several modes available for your comfort.

-Highly efficient.

Cons:

-Remote operation is too technical. User Manual is insufficient to understand all the operations. When ever time permits, I still try to fiddle with remote to see the effects.

-Controls on AC unit are limited. Better be careful to protect your remote.(BTW, this is also the case with other digitally operated AC’s)

-Installation in Goa is done by dealers who are not trained in Hitachi AC’s and cannot expect much from them.

When, the AC was unpacked, the remote was missing. The dealer provided it after about 3 days. The person who installed AC did not know that a wooden block below the compressor has to be removed(Part of packing).

Over all after about 6 months of usage, I am satisfied with Hitachi.

Being quietest I strongly recommend for bedroom.

I bought a 1.5 Ton Quadricool TM in Jul 07.  I narrowed down my search to Carrier and Hitachi due to Energy Efficiency rating given on respective sites.  I was to use the window AC in a place where the summer temperature touches 52 - 54 deg C, anyone heard of Lalgarh Jattan, Rajasthan, it's not on railway map. I had a first / top floor house.  I homed on to this AC due to survey I did in Lucknow.

The mentioning on place is to emphasize the fact that the people I asked were not trying to sell the product to me and did not know here will I be using it.  I asked a few dealers but I based my decision on the rating of four mechanics. Two of whom

work for certain companies / showrooms and do installation and service of ACs. Two were those who people trun to after expiry of the warranty for repair and maintenance to save money.  These guys were in business coz they had a reputation for being good at their job. The machine was worth every penny, even my guest from BBay asked for the thing to be switched of after a while even on economy setting.

My electricity bill was same as my neighbor using an LG 1.5 Ton AC on ground floor.  The day I was moving from there one call was good enough and the service guy came uninstalled the machine, did complete servicing and packed the thing.  I am mega satisfied.

Hitachi ACs deliver

Being a new member to vent out my grievance against a few products I though I'd might as well write about a few products I like. I bought my Hitachi Quadricool AC last year and I am very pleased and satisfied with its performance specially in the oppressive Delhi heat. I bought my unit from Arvee Appliances Lajpat Nagar. The AC was fitted by the shopkeepers agents and to my pleasant surprise a Hitachi service agent showed up 2 days after I fitted the A/C. It seems that the AC's excess water(condensation) vent was not unplugged by the agent who fixed it earlier, he rectified the same adjusted the tilt angles, made the appropriate entries in the Hitachi service booklet, and explained all features all free of cost. Last year the AC performed quite well and my monthly electricity bill also came own from 2000 Rs PM to 1500 Rs PM.

This year with the onset of summer when I started my AC I heard some strange noises from it. I called the Hitachi authorized service agency and they came the next day. It seems that a pigeon had made a nest the previous winter inside the AC(!). They cleared the same and since the A/C was in the warranty period did a free checkup and service. The AC has given me a very good performance this year too.

I highly recommend Hitachi ACs to other customers. Though the cost is on the higher side it is worth it!

Pros:

  1. Extremely quiet(specially in the super quiet mode)

  2. Fast cooling

  3. The Kaimen feature is excellent. I start the AC at 23 C and with Kaimin it increases the temp in steps on 1 C every hour(max 4C rise). So in the morning I wake to a pleasant 27C without chills and joint pains!

  4. Very good customer care support(till now)

Beware before buying this brand "Hitachi"

I would like to shair my experience in buying the AC as I feel it is my moral duty to inform others, as in same I got very good inputs from this website.

Well I did extensive survey, before buying my first A.C., since I reside in Delhi, so I have reach to many brands from Ogen to LG, I check power consumption of each unit before deciding on my final choice.

Since, it was my first A.C. so my initial idea was to get a good value for money. After knowing products I realised that a better initial investment in a good A.C. machines would save alot later, both in terms of money, electricity consumption, and time, ease of service. So decided to buy AC something better than the normal. As money spent later is more than your initial good investment.

Moreover, I also knew that compressor forms key component of any AC, hence I wanted the best component in the market, and among those present in the market, I would rate Carrier and Hitachi as the best machines. Moreso, because of the simple fact that these manufacturers produce their compressors at their own plant. However, there are others too but made in "China". There are other who claim to fit compressor from above two, but actually they are approved and not made.So beware of this.

Finally, between Hitachi and Carrier, I choosed Hitachi as one of dealer in my region who has both the brands in his different shop told Hitachi has better presence and hence good service. O-gen although is very good machine but it is power guzzler as one of my colleague whose has this machine told me.

So in nutshell, AC is one machine as it can make your life hell, offcourse when you are sleeping and drain your pocket, if it is a power guzzler.

But the real story started after I purchased 1.5T DT, Quadricool. As after installation of machine I found the cover mentions it has 1.5 ton machine but actually the machine was.....ANY GUESS...1 ton machine. Shocked, and angry I immediately called my dealer and wrote to Hitachi....story still continues.

My sinple point is if someone is going by the name of Hitachi the brand, please beware, as it can be anything.Just for your knowledge, Hitachi machine is almost 40% expensive than LG one. If  Hitachi is so conscience about its brand than it should, HITACHI  SHOULD GIVE GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. ACTUALLY I TELL YOU, THIS BRAND IS NOT WORTH THE PREMIUM THEY TAKE FROM US.

Secondly, please keep your eyes open about the tall claims that every machines makes to you, even check the compressor.

Thirdly, insist on product brochure before comparing any machines, some dealers dont show it you but many do, so please counter check the dealer claims in brochure.

Fourthly, distributor gets a benefit on certain brands so they push some brand to you, so take opinions from diferent dealer, if someone claims for anything ask to prove it.Ask how it happens, this way you get lot of information on the product and thus good idea before choosing your required machine.

Finally, insist on value for every penny that you invest and offcourse Hitachi does nt give that.

Hitachi Quadricool twin turo was the first AC in my house to give up cooling in the heat delhi is going thru currently. I also checked with my friends who have Hitachi...they had to shift their bedrooms to the ones with Samsung, as Hitachi is no good is exterme heat.

It is low in noise, but if no cooling, I guess a fan could do better with as much noise.

The after sale is the worst. took me 4 hours to get thru helpline and I had to co-ordinate between helpline and local dealer. the earlier didnt communicate to the later. So I wasted one office day waiting for them at home.

Please read more reviews before buying hitachi. I would recommend an Onida split or a Samsung window given a little more noise is ok. Else one can go for tried tested O-general

Personally I am very disappointed with Hitachi...as do not think its value for money at all.

Hitachi Quadricool

I bought 2 Hitachi 1.5T Quadricools for my house and from day one I have had nothing but problems. The first started with the installation of the airconditioners where the Authorised dealers installed the AC without removing the block of wood under the compressor that is used to keep it stable during transport. After installation during the test run the louvres were found to be not working and had to be replaced. A month after I bought the AC the blower motor stopped working on both the ACs. Both were replaced under warranty but the replacement motors did not come with the necessary plug clip and the service people had to cut off the plug clips from the old motor and attach it with insulation tape to the new one. At this time I told the Area Manager of Hitachi that these were obviously defective pieces and I rather have them exchanged for new pieces. He spoke to his Boss and promised me that if there was any other problem the ACs would be replaced. About six month after this was done the blower motor on one AC stopped working again and on the second AC the blower motor stopped working on speed two. The blower motor on one was again replaced and on the other the service people have not yet come despite repeated calls and reminders. I reminded the Hitachi Area Manager that he had promised me a replacement if any problems occured again but he said he would have to talk to his boss again to get the repacement. Several weeks later the his boss, the regional manager, came to meet me and promised that they would get my AC thoroughly checked up and if he found any issues he would replace it. The date for the check up was to be in the two weeks when Hitachi was having a free check up camp. During that week neither the Area manager nor the Regional Manager called me nor did any person come to my house to check the airconditioner. Recently when I turned on the AC a puff of thick white smoke came out of the front. I immediately turned it off fearing a fire and the next day I tried to contact the Area manager of Hitachi to report the incident. Till now I have not been able to get in touch with him, his phone rings but he does not answer it.

Besides these issues there are several other smaller issues with the AC and service. During one of the various service jobs a technician broke the placstic clips of the grill in front of the filter. The airconditioner is anything but quiet and makes strange rattling sounds. One louvre is not working any more, the service people do not respond in a timely fashion, and many spare parts are not stocked so one has to wait several days for part replacement.

In terms of the electricals in my house, I have put my own earthing pit at a depth of 2.4m isolated from the rest of the building with all the necessary charcoal and salt etc. I also have a neutral pit (which most houses do not have) located over 4m away from my earthing pit so there is issues with my electrical wiring. The electricals are checked every six month by my factory engineer for any problems. The AC gets stabilised power and I have a 5KVA stabliser for the job.

The unsual thing is over the past few years we have bought many Hitachi ACs for my offices and factories so I would consider myself a good customer of Hitachi. If this is the treatement metted out to their good customers with one of their premium products, I would rather not buy an AC from them ever again.

It is quiet it is very fast in cooling power consumption is good and looks beautiful from front panel I stated using hitachi logic cool from 4years no problems I keep buying them since now we have 3 of logic cool and 3 quadricool im impressed with reliability and product quality u should check the piece before instalation for damage during transportation it is real nightmare for one piece I need to change 4 pieces becauce of damaged pieces in average day it is consuming 3 to 4 untis power for 7 hours it goes to 5 units also but it is consuming 6-7 units during very hot day (my room don have any ceiling or insulation it still got a ventilator opened but meshed and 4 people in it) so its economy is impresive its kaimin feature is real beauty(raising temperature 1 deg every hour upto 4 deg ) makes u sleep with out blanket what I don like is its lenght at the back u can not avoid it because of its fan design its theif preventing loking system is really good and im waiting for such thing from long time. 2010 I am back to this review afer long time. its been 5th year still running good.So my oldest one is 9 years no trouble. and youngest(split ac) is 4 years. out of all only one gave trouble.
