A month and half before my car insurance with Kotak expired, I got bombarded with multitude of phone calls and emails for renewal. Note that closer to the renewal date, I had 3 different premium rates quoted!. Once I paid the premium, policy was not issued within 24 hours as promised. A week following the payment, during which I followed up with phone calls to get an update on the status of the payment and policy issuance, I got nothing but the run around. Finally a week later, I got confirmation of funds received but was told that the policy could not be issued due to technical difficulties! What these were, no one could tell. The next day when I called, I was told, in no uncertain terms, that unless I paid an additional amount of INR3500, policy would not be issued. So this makes the number of quotes to 4. Not to forget the threat of no policy unless I paid extra.
So next day, I decided that I would buy the policy elsewhere and cancelled with Kotak. Few hours later I got a vide policy from Kotak! Why they issued this, I have no clue.
But now they are not refunding the premium unless I provide them with the policy I bought elsewhere. This is my personal document that Kotak has no business to ask me especially given that I cancelled before the policy was issued.
Now 20 days later and repeated complaints to the CEO and the Grievance redressal officer have not brought any resolution. These people are unethical, unprofessional and con artists. Otherwise why would I get 4 quotes? Why aren't they refunding my money? Why the delay tactics? Never mind that they are at fault for not issuing the policy on time and yet I am the one held accountable to their terms and agreements! Pay more elsewhere, but don't insure with Zurich Kotak.
From customer service agents, their supervisors, their grievance officers and all the way to the top - they are all irresponsible and do not care about the customers.
Having read other reviews, I am glad that I had to make no claims last year and that this year I got my car insured elsewhere.
