Watched ZNMD and must say, this one will add to my DVD collection:)
After Dil Chahta Hai, it's ZNMD a film about friendship and life that appealed to me.
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, it's just refreshing and just the kind of feel-good-movies which makes one smile, cry and dance with joy! Javed Akhtar's super talented kids, have got so much to offer and keep you wanting for more. Post Delhi Belly, ZMND was a fresh breath of goodness, simply loved every moment of it.
Story:
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, it's a movie which talks about life and how one must live it to the fullest. No regrets, just memories. Life is not just about living for others, but for yourself too. It has to be balanced. And the story of Kabir(Abhay Deol), Arjun(Hrithik Roshan), Imran(Farhan Akhtar), Laila(Katrina Kaif), and Kalki Koechlin(don't rem the character name) makes you realize that and much more.
Kabir(Abhay Deol) is working for his Dad's contsruction business, and ends up in a confusion of hearts with Kalki. They are engaged with a ring meant to be gifted to Kabir's mum! Well, in such an embarassing situnation, he chooses to make Kalki happy, forgetting to ask himself if it's love for him. He is preparing for his bachelor trip to Spain with his buddies Arjun(Hrithik Roshan) and Imran(Farhan Akhtar).
Learning: Live for yourself
Arjun(Hrithik Roshan) is a financial broker and has no idea how it is to let your hair down. Manages to make it to his friend's once-in-a-life experience! Meets the beautiful and optimistic Laila(Katrina Kaif) who seizes every moment in life. She is their diving instructor and makes Arjun realize that life is much more than money. It's about experiencing the never before.
Learning: Let yourself go and experience love in its truest form.
Imran(Farhan Akhtar) is the carefree guy who wants to unfold the mystery that his mother, played by Deepti Naval, hides from him, for reasons she knows best. He loves to play pranks and is the funny guy.
Learning: There are some things, its best you don't know.
Music score by the trio Shankar Ehasan and Loy is music to the ears… love the naughtiness of senorita and the lovely khabon ke parinday.
Lastly the most amazing part of the movie, Imran’s poems by Javed Akhtar…
“Dilon mein tum apni
Betaabiyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum
Nazar mein khwabon ki
Bijliyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum
Hawa ke jhokon ke jaise
Aazad rehno sikho
Tum ek dariya ke jaise
Lehron mein behna sikho
Hal ek lamhe se tum milo
Khole apni bhaayein
Har ek pal ek naya samha
Dekhen yeh nigahaein
Jo apni aankhon mein
Hairaniyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum
Dilon mein tum apni
Betaabiyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum”
