IN MY OPINION:
Zero, directed by Aanand L. Rai, is the story of Bauua Singh, a man with short height, yet confident, charming and witty in nature and also some arrogance in him. Baaua was never failed by Meerut or its people as he was born in a rich family and raised him in an environment of luxury and pampering. His life is changed forever when he meets two women as they both take him on a journey to complete his incompleteness'and broaden his horizons to find a purpose he never ever imagined.
The story of Zero is interesting and has an inspiring concept that doesn't holds back its flamboyance. A great concept like this one requires a clever execution, but not every good script gets the desired treatment. This romance from Meerut to Mars comes across the ideas of science, space traveling, use of conventional themes and undying love. In trying to do so very few of them seems to be justified. King Khan's romantic gestures are striking and mass appealing. While the ideas used are unique and worth appreciating, the narration somewhere does not connects in the arc of storytelling. All in all, the plot thickens but doesn't engages you too much and rather it offends you.
STAR-CAST:
Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Abhay Deol, Sheeba Chaddha, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Brijendra Kala, Vipin Sharma, and R. Madhavan.
Special Appearance: Salman Khan
PLOT OF THE MOVIE:
Bauua Singh ( Shah Rukh Khan) from Meerut is shown as a dwarf ( physically challenged) and his dream is to marry Babita Kumari ( Katrina Kaif) who is a famous actress. But, instead he falls in love with Aafia ( Anushka Sharma) who is suffering from cerebral palsy and is a scientist. Their love story travels from India to the US and all the way making it out to the outer space too. Meanwhile, in the middle of all the chaos, he encounters some interesting challenges that forms the Crux of the story.
The writing by Himanshu Sharma has gone way too long stretching it unnecessarily.
PERFORMANCES:
Though SRK has done a great job acting as a dwarf and very much justifying the character of Bauua Singh, but it is Anushka Sharma who has done an outstanding performance by playing the role of a person affected with cerebral palsy. Rest of the cast were good and gave a decent performance without going too deep into the drama.
MUSIC:
'Husn Parcham'and 'Mere Naam Tu'are the only two songs that supports the script well. The background score was ok enough.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
Nothing much to praise or offend with this section of the film. ( What effects are you going to find in a love story now.pssh! ?)
MY SUGGESTION TO YOU:
The movie is light hearted and easy going. If you are into refreshing your mood this week then this one is for you.
MY RATING:
3/5
