Zee English is a channel which you always have 2 distincly different emotions, on one hand some of the serials aired are quite the latest and often the channel beats the likes of Star World in getting these programmes.
On the other hand, the very poor sound quality(muffled at best) and poor programming, low production values and the downright poor voice-overs are a big letdown.
Zee English aires programmes like The West Wing, Friends (season 9 also nowadays, every friday @ 9:30 PM), The Sopranos, Sienfeld and Six Feet Under.
They also air utter cr@p like La Femme Nikita, Black Scorpion and Women of Wrestling(reccomended when you need a laugh and badly at that).
Even while airing The West Wing etc, there are no ads announcing the impending end of a season and when the next season is due, and the re-runs go on almost forever.
The Sopranos and Six Feet Under are quite good and have no hassles with that.
The overall sound quality is poor and is fully understandable only on headphones(Have tried this at a couple of friends' places, as I thought that my TV had gone bonkers). The voice overs by the guy for La Femme Nikita are hilarious and the accent, or rather the lack of an accent is all to audible, my simple advice to whoever does that would be to be yourself and no need to ''feko-fy'' the accent(Bambaiyya at its best :-) ), if thats not possible walk into a call centre and get trained atleast.
They also air Threes Company, Full House(wonder wheer the Olsen twins are now..), Fresh Prince of Bel Air(Will Smith rocks!) and Hogans family, all older shows that definately go down well with me. I would like to soo however Charles In charge and Silver Spoons and even (Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis??) Diff'rent Strokes and Gary Coleman again..!
All in all, as my math teacher always always said(sigh!), Can do better.
