Time changes and so do us - Indian Television audience. We felt excited when television came. It was really doing well with only DD1. Then DD2 was introduced for Metros. And then slowly evolution era – cable came in picture. But most of audiences are boggled with ‘saas bahu saga’. But we must accept - television is a mean to relax as per our current living style.
The concept of reality show [the base difference with serials, reality shows are not based on script] was like a fresh air. But then it had its own color. Like participants claiming – organizers playing with voting line or results are pre-defined etc.
And then launched another Reality show called ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’. This one is inline with Naach Baliye and the theme is Dance. I did see the promos and the word ‘Dance’ caught my eyes. But as typical me I forgot the first date etc. But during re-cap was able to catch up. One episode & I noticed lot-a freshness in the concept. There is no ‘Vote appeal’, no elimination round [so can enjoy everyone’s performance till end], judges’ decision is final.
The theme is like ‘old wine in new bottle’ – Girls vs. Boys ladaai – whoz the best!The girls Team I mean the Meethi Chhuris - has Ashita , Karishma, Mouni, Narayani, Rupali, Swini and Zennifer with Delnaz as Team captain. On the other side Ali is leading Tez Talwar Team – with Amey, Amit, Baktyar, Chaitanya, Gaurav, Manish and Vikas as team members.
Various participants like Delnaz, Karishma, Narayani, Baktyar, Gaurav, Manish & Vikas are the ones – we had seen them tapping their foot on floor of ‘Naach Baliye’ before. But other faces are very fresh on dance floor [though familiar on serials]. If we notice carefully, the girls’ side chairs & penalty bench is red in color [does this indicate chhuris are danger :D] and the other side is represented with color blue.
Ms Wao Sweta & Mr. Supercool Karan – are the two anchors. Well, they are good, entertaining us – the viewers & participants. But at time I find they are speaking too much & taking the Dance masti away. Oh, don’t miss Karan’s kool tattoos on both his hands ;)
The flow of the show goes this way:
Ø Individual performance: One from each team does perform and are assigned scores
Ø Group performance: We get to see the entire crew on stage doing dhamaka. Few memorable episodes were – Independence Day special, the day Talwar Team did perform on the track of Satte Pe Satta. Best performing Team is declared as winner of the round
Ø Hum Tum Round: One member from each Team perform together & score is assigned to individual. Few magnificent performances – BAH special, little Swini & Amey dancing on ‘Whats your mobile no’ track and Shaadi special by Karishma & Chaitanya [thet had scored perfect Bingo too]
Ø Lagi bet: The non-winner Team of previous week put certain score on bet. Winning this round results - adding up of bet score and loss results deduction of same score from total score. The judges declare winner by waving the respective colored flag [red & blue]
Ø Khallas round: Karo ya Maro [Win or get penalized] –the funda for this round. One member from each Team do participate in this round, giving their best as the defeat will take participant towards penalty bench & would not let him/her to perform for next one week. Return from penalty bench rule is really good. Each Team has got 4 life lines, using which they can bring the members back form penalty bench. Not just the life line, the other Team decides the act to be performed by member to come back from penalty bench. And needless to say – the other Team utilizes the opportunity to the most. With yesterday’s episode – Talwar Team had already exhauseted all their 4 life-lines. And the Meethis are left with another three life lines. The varied comical punishments we had seen till date are – Manish with his stunning performance on 'Kaisi Paheli Zindagi' track from Parineeta, Amey taking an oath on what he would do when he is grown up & gets married.
This show gets me glued on Monday & Tuesdays between 9:30-11:00 PM on Star One. Most striking rounds are Hum-Tum, Lagi bet & Khallas rounds.
Now let me highlight few of the overall dazzling performances:
*Baktyar on Kismat Kknoection track, Tanna on Mithun Da’s Disco dancer track, Manish & Amey on Tumse naraaz zindagi track, Mouni’s performances on classical round & Kaisi Paheli track. And of-course the PJs cracked by Karan, tiff between the judges, the cameo played by the Team members are real fun to watch at time.
Mishaps on the show:*
Wardrobe malfunction for Ashita [and I must mention – she managed the situation very tactfully & continued her performance. Many did not even understand the issue till it was pointed by judges], Karishma got a fracture on her ankle, Amit’s injury, Manish got injured & is out of the show, Narayani got blanked out due to her injury [but came back to the show successfully].
Aah, I missed revealing the honorable judges of the show. Glam Mom Malaika Arora Khan and Chunkey Panday. What you are not able to recognize Chunkey?? Remember ‘Tezab’ or the recent one ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’. Malaika & no mention about her dresses! Not possible. At time I wonder whether she prefers her dresses to be designed to cover or reveal :D [naughty me]. Not sure – which color glass brand Chunkey is Brand ambassador for, but for sure it looks odd seeing him on those colorful and funky glasses.
The show has not only presented us a set of new dancers on small screen also did help BAH in movie promo, promo for another serial ‘Pani-Puri’ and adding color to reality show concept. It is another two weeks to got for the final. Those, who are yet to experience show – it is time : )
