I feel there are only 4 movies which deserve to receive 5 stars from 2000 onwards. They are Rang De Basanti, Omkara, Dil Chahta Hai and Yuva.
Yuva released in May 2004, and stars Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol and Abhishek Bachchan.
The film focuses on youth politics in Kolkata. There are 3 different men:
Lallan(Abhishek)-Goon, who gets paid to beat up students activists.
Michael(Ajay)-Student Leader, who only thinks about politics
Arjun(Vivek)-Carefree, selfish who wants to go to America but later joins Ajay.
The story is about these 3 and ofcourse their love loves with Bebo, Rani and Esha.
There is a lot of violence, which I think is needed for this kind of movie. Somepeople think it is too much, that's their opinion.
In terms of performance, Esha Deol has nothing to do and she is OK. Vivek Oberoi does well as a carefree young man. Ajay Devgan also performs well, although his performance received mixed reviews from critics. Abhishek Bachchan was very impressive, one of the few movies in which I liked him. Saying this, he has a long way to go before he can be in the league of Hrithik or Aamir.
Rani Mukherjee puts in a fine performance, she was excellent. You also feel sorry for the way AB jr treats her when she loved him so much. This is one of her best performances. Kareena Kapoor's role was not well written but she put in a tremendous performance. Her expressions were also brilliant.
Om Puri supported the main cast very well as did Vijay Raaz and Sonu Sood.
Overall-A must see, one of the best movies ever.
