Having previously used the YU Yureka, I was comfortable with recommending its update, the YU Yureka Plus. This phone came with similar features as the YU Yureka like the Snapdragon 615 octacore processor with 4G dual sim capability, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 2500mAh battery and a 5.5-inch screen. However, the key changes in the revised rendition included a upgraded 1080p full-HD display, uprated 13 Mpx camera(with Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor) and an updated OS in the form of CyanogenMod 12S.
The build was similar to the old phone. It is well made with a matte rubber back finish termed "Moonstone Black" which enhances grip and prevent drops. However, the display has improved with better color, clarity and viewing angles. However, it still suffers from poor sunlight visibility due to lack of brightness levels. It is reasonably smooth in handling apps due to a decent processor and Cyanogen’s tweaks. The camera is better than the previous unit, though shutter speed is not improved. The front camera is much improved over the previous edition with better selfies in low-light conditions.
It cannot handle a long stretch of gaming and tends to lag in such scenarios. It is best suited for light to medium use. Heating does not occur after long periods of use as the processor throttles down to prevent it(this may cause the lag encountered earlier). The battery needs to be juiced as it barely makes it to the end of the day.
There are better alternatives that the Yureka Plus but considering it is the cheapest variant of the Snapdragon 615 series of phones available, it can be considered. At its price point of Rs. 8999, the Yureka Plus is the best value for money phone in its segment with an above average performance and the capability of Cyanogen to boot.
