This review is a heartfelt warning for parents like us who innocently visit Yashbans Kennels hoping to bring home a healthy puppy. I feel compelled to share a cautionary tale about our distressing experience at Yashban Kennels, in the hopes of preventing others from enduring a similar ordeal.
In April 2023, we eagerly welcomed a 4-month and 10-day-old golden retriever into our family, trusting Yashban Kennels' reputation and ethics, paying a substantial INR 1.5 lakh. They assured us of the pup's perfect temperament for a family and claimed her bone structure was exceptionally developed for her age.
Regrettably, Yashban Kennels deceived us by providing a puppy afflicted with hip dysplasia. They asked us to not go to hospitals for risk of infections and gave us their recommended vet’s number for home visits or asked to visit them for vaccinations etc.
We adhered to their recommended diet and supplement regimen as best we could and diligently tracked our pup's progress. Consulted them when in doubt every time and took their recommendations. Observing disparities in her walking style compared to other dogs, we sought the advice of their recommended veterinarian, who dismissed our concerns, assuring us that everything was fine.
In early June, a friend alerted us to the inward bending of the pup's legs. Upon sharing a video with them, they evaded the issue initially and only admitted to the curved legs when pressed further. Shockingly, they also shifted blame onto us, citing excessive exercise, inadequate care and feeding as the cause.
During a meeting on June 21, 2023, they increased the pup's diet to 1kg of meat per day and adjusted the supplement intake. However, aside from weight gain, there was minimal improvement even after 15 days. Growing skeptical of their integrity, we decided to take the pup to a hospital for a comprehensive examination. The X-ray revealed moderate bilateral hip dysplasia, necessitating surgery to prevent pain, arthritis, and other complications. The doctor highlighted that the pup's hip condition was congenital, something any responsible breeder should have noticed. The doctor also expressed dismay at the excessive number(12 tablets/day+ 1 tsp Supplement oil+ Vitamin d3 shot twice a week) of supplements suggested by them. He advised there is no need for these many tablets as it will harm the pup’s health.
Our trust in them was shattered, especially considering their supposed 45 years of experience. It appears they knowingly sold us an unhealthy pup, unable to breed or profit from it. Their erroneous advice on medications and diet resulted in the pup gaining excess weight, further worsening her leg condition.
When we shared the X-ray and diagnosis of hip dysplasia, and the need for spaying, she responded rudely, accusing us of lying and evading responsibility, contrary to what she had stated in the file provided to us during the purchase. We offered her an opportunity to rectify her mistake, requesting a healthy replacement pup and the return of the one with hip dysplasia. To our dismay, she callously disregarded our plea, stating that since we had selected the pup, she bore no responsibility—a complete fabrication since they picked the pup for us. She suggested us to find another home for the pup.
In a further display of insensitivity, they mocked us by saying "You can't rear her and feed her well, I’m shocked you want to breed her. Spay her and keep her as companion for your very ‘lonely’ kid."
It is evident that their true character is far from the compassionate, humble facade they present. Please exercise caution and avoid falling into their trap. A genuine breeder should provide terms and conditions in advance. After making full payment and while picking up the puppy, a file is given with all details plus terms and conditions.
We desire our young children to cherish joyous memories of their first puppy, not witness them in pain, limping, and enduring multiple surgeries mere months after joining the family. To them, our vulnerable child is nothing more than a means to generate profit. While they may have initially appeared compassionate and humble, their true nature reveals when you go with a problem to them. They are but a money-hungry business who manipulates innocent children. Please steer clear of Yashban Kennels.
If you are interested in adopting a 7-month-old puppy for free, please email me at adoptYashbanpup@gmail.com. I am more than willing to provide hospital reports, KCI registration, and any other pertinent information to ensure that no one else falls victim to the same deceitful practices that we experienced. I consider the INR 1.5 lakh we paid to them as charity, or rather, alms given to them in good faith.
