Hey guys,
Yamaha has launched its executive commuter market motorcycle with a re-worked version of the Crux called the Libero. The new bike wears a chunky wardrobe, with more substantial, brawny looks, which are dominated by the headlight. While the V-shaped crown makes it look purposeful, watching the Libero from the side makes it look too spherical. The engine is the 106 CC unit from the Crux with a new carburettor that should give the bike near 70 kpl in fuel consumption. The engine makes 7.7 bhp, which is a touch less than its competition, but then again, the Yamaha is pretty light at 109 kg.
The double cradle chassis should give the Libero good cornering ability, and the presence of decent 2.75x18 (Rib) and 3.00x18 (Nylogrip) tyres should help the cause, though Nylogrip Zappers would have helped even more. For swift stops, Yamaha’s excellent 130 mm drums are at either end. The package is comprehensive, but Yamaha have chosen to price the Libero at Rs 42,500 ex-showroom Delhi, which is between Rs 1,000 and 2,000 more than the competition.
