This is a review I'm writing after a very long time. Was using a HH Splendor+ all these days. Relocated to Bangalore recently, and was on the lookout for a more powerful vehicle. My requirement was as follows:

1) Power required, especially in low-speeds.

2) Reliability (I'm in night shifts).

3) No starting problems.

I considered the following powerhouses:

1) CBZ Extreme

2) Pulsar 150

3) Apache

4) Unicorn

I overruled Apache and Unicorn, since they are both staying in the past - the 13.x bhp. When Pulsar and Extreme moved on to 14.x. I discarded Pulsar mainly because of the electronic speedo and digital stuff. I mean, those features did not appeal to me. I prefer the good old RELIABLE analog. Smart work by Pulsar to release the Puls in the "no-rain" months so the initial models won't test how the thing works in the rain.

That left me with the CBZ Extreme as the only option, but the only reason I didn't take it was because of the SHITTY customer service by Hero Honda at Bangalore.

I had already addressed this concern in a previous review - on Bajaj Pulsar. Another reviewer gave an alternative to the shop I went to. But even elsewhere the problem was the same. TheseĀ %^&* are not even bothered to ask the prospective buyer what he wants. You got to "barge" your way in to the nearest available counter. And whatever you do, you are not allowed to test ride. So I told them to &*$! off.

With all 4 150cc's ruled out, I decided to go for 2nd hand, and that's how I took up the Yam.

2001 model. Took test-ride, the engine was wonderful. Pickup was good at all levels. Even tried racing a Karizma. Was successful in low-speeds. But once the open road comes, Kzma races ahead. Power is wonderful, and the sound is also awesome.

I do have some questions though.

1) What is the default tyre pressure? Single- as well as Pillion- ride?

2) How frequently do you change the oil?

Waiting for answers. More questions will come as the days go by.

Thanks.
