Challenging the Brands - Xolo Q1000 is top-notch. Review on XOLO Q1000

It’s almost 10 days that I’m using Xolo Q1000 after purchasing it online, though it is a very short time to write a detailed review, here I’ll only mention about my experience with this new mobile based on my few days use. This would help those people who are interested in buying this product and want to make sure that it is worth putting their money in.

Xolo Q1000 is the latest release by Lava's sister brand "Xolo" a brand that was created in collaboration with intel, thereby using'intel chipsets' for augmenting the market share in premium mobile phones. But contrary to the wide belief not all mobile phones of Xolo carried "Intel Inside". Only a particular series of xolo phones has intel chipsets where as the others came with qualcomm technology.

Over to this new Xolo Q1000 This Smart phone was announced on online shopping portals long before its official release and hence looking at its impressive specifications I was waiting for its release date.

Specs that caught my attention:

*• 5-inch IPS display with 720x1280 pixels resolution, 295 ppi

• 1.2GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU clocked at 286Mhz

• 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 32GB

• Android™ v4.2(Jelly Bean)

• 8MP primary camera with BSI CMOS Sensor and 1.2MP front camera also with BSI CMOS sensor.

• Tough Dragontrail glass

• Full 1080p HD playback and recording.*

Buying decision: So far having used only premium mobile from brands like HTC, Sony and Samsung and also having suffered due to product and service related issues of big brands even after paying huge price for their product, this time I decided to change my preference. Well the specifications of Xolo Q1000 was enough for convince me at the price of Rs. 14999/-. So I decided to put my money on this gadget right away on its release. But before that I did some study about the Xolo product and its customer satisfaction. After visiting various websites for customer response I came to know that the products offered by Xolo are pretty good quality wise and most of the customers gave positive feedback after prolonged use. But the major drawback remained the customer service. Anyways that is one of the common problems even with big brands.

First look: it looks sleek and good. 5” display may feel little big to fit in palm and operating it with one hand may feel little difficult. But the body and finish is too good. It adds a premium feel to its appearance. Use of dragontrail glass makes it feel tough and impact resistant. The HD display steals the show. It looks Rich, vivid and sharp. Colors reproduction is good and the clarity is awesome. You would love to see HD images on its screen.

User Experience: Hardware of this mobile powered with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 works very well. Scrolling through screens feels smooth with feather touch response. Didn’t find any lag during multitasking. Playing games on this is fun with fast response and superb graphics. Presence of different sensors was felt at each task. Apps ran without any problem and surfing internet was a good experience on this mobile.

Sound: Most importantly the basic function of making and receiving calls had no problem. Sound during call was loud and clear on both the ends. While playing music on its loudspeaker sound quality is ok, but not the best. Though it gives a very good effect while using the headphones.

Battery: Company claims to have a very powerful battery backup but with my moderate use of gaming, internet browsing and few calls the battery lasted only for a day. But still that is an ok performance for battery of 2100mAh.

Camera: Now the most wonderful thing about this mobile is its camera. Yes this 8mp CMOS BSI sensor camera gave awesome results. It can beat any other Indian brand mobile including some Samsung and other branded phones of this price range. Picture quality is too good both in day and low light. Additional features of camera are very useful whereas the HDR function produces crisp and high quality images. Front camera is equally good and useful for video calling. Video recording at 1080p full HD gives stunning results. In one word I’m highly impressed with this phone for its camera and Video capability.

Conclusion: Overall this phone is worth every penny you pay. In my opinion it’s a true camera phone at this budget. You will never be disappointed on your buying decision. Xolo Q1000 is fast and feature rich mobile in its price category. Hence it can definitely make big brands to run for their money. You can’t go wrong buying this mobile but at the same time if the availability of service centers and after sales service bothers you then please think over again before buying. Btw I read somewhere that the company gives doorstep pickup service if there is any issue but don’t know how far it is true or effective.
