Hi friends,
I bought this phone for my mother in april month. The redmi 3s prime is a midrange device with all essential features like compass, gyroscope, ir blaster, and accelerometer and fingerprint sensor.
Frankly speaking, you don't get all these above mentioned sensors in mid range devices.
This phone comes in 2 variants, one is 16 gb and the other is 32 gb with fingerprint sensor, both are priced as 6999 and 8999 in indian rupees.
I bought this from phone from amazon. It is also sold via flipkart and mi store.
The redmi devices often go out of stock within 1 minute or so. You need a lot of luck to buy this redmi phones.
Well lets talk about some of the pros and cons of the redmi 3s prime. i'll start feature wise.
DISPLAY:
Pros: display is good, but not as vibrant as it should have been like led display. Over all feedback of the display is good when it comes to accessiblity, it can used single handed being 5 inch screen. Display software includes reading mode and color temperature adjustments.
Cons: Glass protection given is not mentioned. I mean which type of glass is used is not mentioned, so you better buy a tempered glass for it. Side angle view is sometimes dark. Again its not a full hd display it comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 p. Auto brightness sensor is not very responsive. Display navigation buttons are not backlit.
PROCESSOR AND RAM:
Pros: it runs on an octacore 430 cpu, so basically gaming performance is good. The 3gb ram variant is good for multi tasking and boost performance. The adreno GPU is 505 with 294 pixel per inch which is quite good. Not too Heavy but basic games can be played with ease.
Cons: Should have been atleast 435 chipset to increase performance. Also ram management is not as best . It is some what ok ok kind of thing in device.
CONNECTIVITY:
Pros : we have volte support with jio 4g sim. Cellular call quality is good with jio and airtel. Wifi bluetooth are working as expected. Features such as wifi direct , bluetooth HID, bluetooth 4.1 , wifi display and wifi direct make the device more worthy.
Cons: it is a hybrid device, you can use 1 and external sd or 2 sim at a time. You cannot use all 3 in one go.
MIUI:
Pros: A custom rom MIUI 8.2.5 given by xiaomi has many features like schdedule power on and off, Battery management and antivirus support.
All on screen apps no need to go to menu. Also there is a lite mode of this MIUI for better understanding the device. Support to add and delete themes and customize look for every persons need. Support to create dual apps and second space is one of the major feature of this device. There is no lagging situations with 3s prime.
Cons: MIUI is not compatible with some of the play store app. Like if you install, any other antivirus like mcafee it does not co-ordinate well with the OS. Third party themes some times slow down the device. MI warning us to use Mi given apps for better performances. Some bloatwares are given in the MIUI, some of them can be removed from device.
BATTERY:
Pros: The battery worth 4100 mah last a day with heavy usages such as streaming youtube videos, playing heavy games. Also, it let us know which apps are power-consuming in battery saver settings in settings.
Cons: Redmi 3s prime does not come with a fast charger, it usually takes 2½ to 3 hours for full charging of the device. Note: you can off or turn on airplane mode to quicly charge the device.
CAMERA:
Pros: camera is great in daylight and artificial lighting conditions. Both 13 mp and 5 mp camera perform well in artificial and natural condition. The pictures are vibrant and color reproduction is very good. Also, there are many modes and features in camera app like mirror images, distort images. Video recording is great I can say that, whatever the quality is produced its great. Being midrange device you dont get optical image stabilisation so its better videos recording at full hd resolution.
Cons: Low light photos are not very great despite noise reduction in the photos, some times pictures are not clear. No flash in front camera which is a compromise being midrange phone.
AUDIO:
Pros: The audio on earphone is good when used with good quality headphone. Mic is also good to talk while on call.
Cons: the audio quality is not very best on phone speaker.
SENSORS:
Pros: compass, gyroscope, proximity, gravity, fingerprint sensor and light sensor are available and work well in 3s prime. Not even samsung, motorola or other smartphone company provide these sensors in one device.
Cons: Well, finger print sensor is buggy, the phone unlock with any finger with power button pressed within 30 secs with respect to lock screen timeout of 30 secs. When lock screen is set to immediately lock it lock the device with configured finger. Otherwise, there is no other issues.
MY RECOMMENDATIONS:
Redmi 3s prime is still worth buying but I would tell you all people to buy redmi 4 prime with redmi 3s prime being going to discontinue in the coming month of june or july.
