Shifted to Windows 7 some months ago. It was, surprisingly, a very easy & good experience. I was using Vista before and installed Windows 7(64 bit) as an experiment. But then, 4 months later, I am still using it and loving the experience. You can go ahead with loading Windows 7(32 bit) but it is slower.
The installation was smoooooth. It formatted the C Drive in less than 1 minute. The installation took all of half an hour and the interface is refreshingly fast. The best thing of Windows 7 - startup(complete) in 25-30 seconds and shutdown in 10-15 seconds. As soon as you click'Shutdown', it does just that - shuts down fast. It does not ask you' Are you sure''do you want to proceed' etc.
The only(minor) headaches are absence of supporting software(flash, mcafee etc.) in 64 bit formats. Many printers would not work right now on Windows 7 due to lack of 64 bit software. The bundled IE8 does not load many sites(including sometimes youtube videos) for lack of flash. However, Firefox works exceedingly well with Windows 7 and does not show any problems whatsoever.
Go for it. You will love the feel.
