Well, Dravid wasn't justified at all. Whether it was Sachin or whichever batsman was there at the receiving end!
Now, let us consider the case of this test match. If there's a situation like you need to pick next ten wickets in 50-60 overs or so, and every over from here will matter then its OK. Anyway, nothing absoultely was achieved on the first day, when we bowled!
My questions are three:
Would Dravid have declared if he was on 194?
Atleast he could've bothered to inform the batsman, that he'd declare at a certain time, so that batsman would've been prepared. Right?
Lets be in the batsman's mindframe and think. Let it be any batsman for that matter. Not just Sachin. Your on the door of a double hundred. And this happens. How painful. Its not all about personal game. He has played 360 balls for the team's sake. Why not allow another 10 balls for him? Thats not selfish. Coz thats not gonna affect team's prospects in anyway, especially in the Second day of a test-match!
Take another case. If Sehwag had gone to score 379, would he have declared. Wont they have waited to see him pass 380? Ofcourse in the same match.. Even thats a personal milestone.. Right. If Sehwag's triple-ton brings laurels to the country, then Sachin back to back double ton, brings laurel to the country as well. (He scored 241* in the previous test against Australia at SCG). Now, you've deprived him of that as well.
Today he has proved it again. He's a team man. He took Moin's wicket off the last delivery. NOW Some of you might feel that he's taking wickets for personal record!!!!!!! SO what do you want him to do? Not to score runs? And not to take wickets? He's got 100 catches in ODIs. Thats not his mistake. If he goes on to make a record in that also, would you want him to drop catches?? This is just unfair, why people are always worried, jealous about his records!
Just think why so many other teams are elated so much, just when they get him out. Coz, he's the one who can single handedly change the course of game, and he can take India to victory. They're not bothered that he'll set new records!
And this is the verdict:
In INDIA, CRICKET IS THE RELIGION AND SACHIN IS THE GOD. You can call him ''GOD'', but he remains GOD. There'll be antagonists. But, He's a team man. No change in that.
I used to like Dravid. But this declaration has turned many fans of Dravid against him. Coz what he has done, is just unfair.
