The one focal point that keeps Waqt ticking is the Big B. His charm is still unbeatable and beyond comparision. Being the most busy actor today, he is definitely racing against his age. God! Please make him the longest living person so that we can have the maximum of him. Sorry guys, just got carried away. Thats Amitabh Bacchhan!
Vipul Shah's new offering is Waqt after the much acclaimed Aankhen. Totally different genres but the handling is good enough. Waqt although too over-dramatic than the typically expected drama in hindi movies makes a mark and most importantly makes you feel good.
It starts off with a pleasant display of father-son compatibility. The son Aditya (Akshay Kumar) is a spoilt brat , not willing to taste the seriousness and responsibility of life. His mother (Shefali Shah) is always very firm on making him understand life and stand on his own feet. Aditya marries Pooja(Priyanka Chopra) without his parents and her parents consent ad brings her home. Now the story begins. Overnight the father takes the responsibility of transforming his son for good. Aditya is forced to stay in the outhouse with his pregmant wife. Gradually the father becomes harsher and Aditya has to work and feed for himself and his family. What happens next is to be seen and enjoyed.
Amitabh Bacchhan as the father steals the show from the first frame to the last. Akshay Kumar has shown a tremendous change off late which continues in Waqt as well. His performance is terrific. Priyanka Chopra as usual looks stunning and vivacious and in this movie she has actually acted. Boman Irani as the fight-picker and Pooja's father has given a fantastic performane and excels in comedy timing. Other actor worth mentioning would be Rajpal Yadav as the servant and a big boring talker. he is too funny to handle in some parts. But the one actor that stands firm as a mountain throughout the movie and stands out of the entire cast is Shefali Shah. Her eyes speak volumes and emote the intensity of the character better than words. Definitly one actress to look forward to.
The music is just satisfactory and the songs although not required at all are OK-OK. The script is very-well written but will a huge scope for improvement. Vipul Shah has proved his once again with Waqt, but he can surely do much better.
