‘Waqt’ is the story of a father who strives to teach and explain the meaning of responsibility to his son. ‘Waqt’ is a family drama directed by Vipul Shah.
Ishwar Chand (Amitabh Bachan) is the owner of a toy producing factory. He is a loving and caring father and spends lavishly to fulfill all the needs and requirements of his only son Aditya (Akshay Kumar). He is frequently prompted by his wife Sumitra (Shefali Shah) to teach some sense of responsibility to Aditya. Ishwar assures her that with the passage of time Aditya will realize his responsibilities. Aditya aspires to become an actor but does nothing to achieve his aim. He is completely dependent on his father for all his needs and desires. He is not concerned about the aspirations of his parents. He secretly marries a girl named Pooja (Priyanka Chopra) and later tells his parents without any sense of guilt or shame. Ishwar suffers from lung cancer and comes to know that his life is cut short to just nine months. He now makes it his aim to teach the sense of responsibility to Aditya. He also wishes to live long enough to see the face of his grand child. He conceals his sickness from Aditya and throws him out of the house. Ishwar tells him to return back home only when he becomes a hero. Aditya along with his pregnant wife goes and lives in the outhouse. Will Aditya realize his sense of responsibility? Will Ishwar’s wish be fulfilled before he dies? To find out the answers watch WAQT.
Lakshman (Rajpal Yadav) plays a comic role of an inquisitive but dull witted servant in the movie. Bouman Irani plays the role of Pooja’s father in the movie. His insane behavior and frequent clashes with Lakshman add to the comedy in the movie.
Amithabh Bachchan and Akshay kumar have given outstanding performances. Shefali Shah and Priyanka Chopra have done a fine job. Bouman Irani and Rajpal Yadav have done a great job in the movie as comedians. Overall the movie is good. Music director Anu Malik has done an average job. I recommend this movie to all.
