There are multiple issues in my VW Virtus 1.0 litre Manual transmission Car.
1. Rattling and annoying noises from doors, under chassis and plastic dash trim.
2. Suspension is very stiff and behaviour is abnormal even while going over slightly rough roads. Road noise and NVH levels are high and wind noise is there when travelling over 90 kmph. The stiffness of the suspension gives a very uncomfortable and jerky ride quality. Over small road undulations at near crawling speeds, there is absolutely near zero spring action and the Car will thud and jerk. Need a strong spine to drive this Car.
3. Reverse Camera is not clear and visibility is very poor in bright sunlight conditions.
4. Boot upholstery is shabby and 2 big vents in the boot upholstery ensure resonant road noise in the boot to come inside the passenger cabin.
5. The boot lid / Dicky door opening is either very fast and hits your chin or is slow and comes down and hits your head when you bend into the boot.
6. The driver seat jolts every time the brake is applied or while shifting gears or on rough road patches.
7. The brakes do not grip in a linear way. There is no action till a particular point of depression which is a little more than the free play area that we are generally used to. Then the brakes grip suddenly. Also at high speeds, there is a light judder.
8. Very poor engine noise insulation in the cabin because there is no shield under the bonnet.
9. The engine bay underside does not have sufficient plastic shielding. In wet and muddy roads, the sludge splashes right upto the underside of the bonnet.
10. The VW LOGO on the front grille shakes.
11. The windows make a lot of noise while being raised or lowered.
I have sent the Car for correcting the above issues twice to Ramani Cars, Coimbatore. They have not been able to rectify anything other than a hissing noise from the A.C blower. The problem is with the manufacturer and not with the dealer. Most of the issues are manufacturing defects due to poor design and cannot be corrected by the dealer.
Overall driving this Car is a very annoying experience and I fail to understand how some people are able to give good reviews. Is it due to inconsistencies in manufacture or ignorance of issues by some? Anyway, whatever I have put forth are my true and personal experience with this Car bearing Regn no. TN 99 X 4214 which has now done about 8500 kms. I have raised a detailed complaint over mail to the dealer and VW asking for permanent fixes to all problems in the Car.
