VODOFONE 3G PAINFUL FRUSTRATING ANNOYING EXPERIENCE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WINDOWS MOBILE USERS!
Just thought of dropping this for all hungry 3G users out there
Jumping to the point, I have tried out almost all major networks here in PUNE Maharashtra that may be via MNP or by picking up new prepaid SIM cards.
Networks I experienced were AIRTEL, AIRCEL, IDEA, DOCOMO, BSNL3G, and RELIANCE & TATA CDMA although did not attempt MTS or VIRGIN as they are part of Tata or you may say collaborated to use tata GSM /CDMA towers across the country.
I personally think Vodafone has decent network strength and call quality among all GSM players
But they have really complicated and made things almost difficult for all customers who want to access and get hooked up to their 3G network, whether it be simple APN settings or checking DATA balance or activating 3G!
I have always been using Windows Mobile mostly for my emails IMs and browsing NET. So I called customer care for this newly activated prepaid sim bought at cost Rs 25/- at Vodafone store Vimannagar area, Pune which not showing any GPRS, EDGE or 3G network on my WM handset.
I was suggested by some customer care guy to do a recharge Rs 99/- to auto activate 3G with 100MB data balance but neither I can see any 100MB data balance in my account nor I can connect to any Vodafone 3G network but all I can see 3G+ Icon on top of my mobile screen which off course doesn’t make me happy at all.
For 3G network currently I am using BSNL 3G and DOCOMO. Few good things about both of these networks are they provide preactivated 3G SIM CARDS or instant 3G activation, Data plans & pricing is better, can track your data balance real time, last but not least some satisfaction compare other CHOR networks.
If Vodafone happy looting Rs 99/- then what I can say…. poor Vodafone!
Oops forgot this Rs 99/- do add up to huge total considering sub continent population! So this country consumer is always a victim in some or other way!
Vodafone is clear winner of MNP race so they are trying to squeeze best out of it before seeing a down fall like AIRTEL!
While browsing through internet I saw lot of guys asking when Vodafone will start 3G services in their state, but I just want pass this information to them that GOVT has allocated 3G spectrums to different GSM provider on basis of bidding and Vodafone has only won state of
MAHARASHTRA, GUJRAT, TAMILNADU, UP, WESTBENGAL, DELHI, HARIYANA and ALL COMMON MUMBAI.
So if you fall out of above mentioned states then I think one forget about Vodafone 3G services and move on other GSM provider 3G services in state
I could not make my LG window mobile 6.5 work Vodafone 3G network but if you are window mobile users and struggling to get Vodafone 3G working then follow below link and see if it can do some miracles.

Finally coming these far and experiencing all pros and cons most of Networks whether it be CDMA or GSM,
I personally feel reliance is decent when it comes to CDMA network around the country and for 3G GSM BSNL3G and DOCOMO gets full marks for their straight forward pricing, fast MNP processing and 3G activation process
These are my personal experiences on GSM & CDMA networks, so yours may vary!
Hope above adds up to your information in some way.
