I have watched so many love stories. DDLJ, Aniyathipravu, Dil tho pagal hai, Niram,Qayamat se Qayamet tak, Titanic list is long. The first 4 belong to the sugar coated happy ending type and the last 2 tragedies. But VTV was different. It was like ur seeing ur life on screen. I mean the character Jessie is so realistic. She represents the dilemma every modern girl faces. She is educated, working still unable to take a decision regarding her future life partner, because in Indian Society caste and religion still plays an important role. She loves Karthik but still she does not want to hurt her father who will not marry off his daughter to a Hindu boy.
There are so many scenes through which GVM has portrayed Jessie's dilemma. She wants Karthik to be her friend, because she knows that is a safe realm. That way she can talk to him and also keep her parents happy
scene in which she speaks to karthik the day of her cancelled wedding, the romantic evening they have before he goes to goa, her desperate call to him in Goa all shows she wants Karthik and want to have a life with him
scene in which she speaks to him angrily in restaurant, the way she walks back to her house when he finally comes to get her shows how confused she is and the director plays with the audience emotions as we are left to comphrehend what Jessie wants.
I would say the last 15-20 mins of the movie was superb. The director takes you to a emotional high in the song " penne unnae enn vazhvin thunayakke". Just when you are lingering on that song u r suddenly brought back to reality.
Wow what a end and I would say the most apt.Don't want to spoil the curiosity of ppl by revealing the climax.
