Vertical Limit…It’s a high altitude adventure movie that’s somewhat short on the story lines but tall on the dare devil stunts, camera effects and visual techno dazzlery.

In other words, if you’re willing to abandon ourselves to some quick chills and very expensive thrills, then there shouldn’t be much cause to complain about vertical limit starring Chris O’Donnell.

Lets get into the movie now and let me give you an insight of what’s to come. Peter (O’Donnell) is an experienced mountaineer who is haunted by the edge of seat tragedy in which his father plummeted to his death. After feeling guilty for many of years it seems that history is repeating itself, Peter once again has to go through the same situation. A complete mission impossible. He now has to save his sister who is trapped in an ice cavern atop a Himalayan peak.

A group of climbers heavily equipped with canisters of nitro glycerin team up with Peter to complete the task, in other words save her…The outcome of the mission as well as the terrible fate of the team members couldn’t be more predictable. Lets not get into the fate it’s pretty gruesome. And you know how it is for the hero he always survives the impossible.

The occasional spurts of fast paced action are offset by one-dimensional character, and the oh so clichéd plot developments are surreal.

Despite the dizzying mountain top settings, the film manages to induce a sense of vertigo. O’ Donnell plays really well but it’s one of those films that you want to only watch the once. A bit like been there done that won’t do it again type thing. I advise you all to watch Cliffhanger it has a better plot and it’s tongue in cheek kind of action, on the same story lines but at least it’s not a remake.
