Some 80+ reviews here already, with mixed feelings of likes and dislikes towards this movie. In my personal opinion this is not a splendid movie, as a biopic it was expected to be somewhat dull however considering the dramatic life Veerappan lived, and that it was directed by the veteran RGV, it was also expected the movie to have some sort of punch and be commercially hit. However, it seemed an average effort.
The movie is believed to be remake of the Kannada film'Killing Veerappan’. Coming to the movie, it gives us some background on how Veerappan turns to this inhuman business of killing tuskers, cops and other humans, felling sandalwood trees and eventually goes on to become the ace bad-guy, known to us as sandalwood smuggler. The movie shows how he brutally murders police officers, how cops plants various tricks and plans to nab him, even to an extent they get in touch with his wife and make her realize the pain and agony of family of slain cops.
As expected, the movie has lot of violence and the background score Veer Veer Veerappan - sometimes is too much to bear for the ears.
The story-line does not keep you engaged and at times you feel like yawning. There is nothing to say about the acting too, there are no big names here. Veerappan played by Sandeep Bhardwaj is so-so. Sachin Joshi as cop and Usha Jadhav as Veerappan's wife does well in their respective characters, however Lisa Ray does not add much value to the character of slain cop's wife.
The only plus is some scenic locations the movie has been shot at, some actions scenes have also come out good.
This is the same director who gave us Satya, Rangeela, however disappoints this time.
