It's been two years since I first tried the vanilla coke, and it's every bit as nice as it was the first time.
First time: December 2002; New York City. Skyline Hotel.
We had only got off the plane a couple of hours before hand and were adjusting to the sounds of NYC. The flight had been a long and draining five hours, and I needed an energy boost. As we disembarked from the lift at the second floor, I saw a drinks machine. Putting two quarters in, I pressed the button and bang went my idea that Sprite was my favourite drink. IT WAS FANTASTIC. The creamy vanilla flavour mingled with the Coke in a way only bettered by a Coke float (vanilla ice-cream in a large glass of Coke, for the uninitiated) and so I was hooked.
Now, if I see it when I need a drink, I don't think twice, that first time, sat in my hotel room trying to find something decent on American TV took me forever. I can just smell the drink writing about it.
So, CHEERS!
Jamie.
