Hey guys,
I'm somewhat giving out the story.
So whether to read it or not is up to you. If you are keen on watching the movie, then don't read this before you watch it.
If you are expecting any suspense in the movie, then I would say, don't waste your time and money.
Coz the Suspense is that there is No Suspense. Oh Shit!! I just gave out the suspense. So now no reason left for you to waste your time and money.
So just forget watching the movie and read my review.
BTW, I had really liked RGV's 'Bhoot' and 'Darna Mana Hai'. 'Ek Haseena Thi' is one of the best movies I've seen so far.
But 'Vaastu Shastra'....................................
----------------------- REVIEW----------------------
# Is the Movie Scary?
Well, usually its said that if you watch a thriller with the volume off, you might not find anything scary about it.
But I think in this RGV flick it could be the other way round. If there are any bleak chances of you getting scarred while watching this movie, then its only if you can shut the volume off.
RGV has completely lost control over his weakness for sound effects. Literally every scene starts with THUD or BANG or some purposeless, irritating, jarring, Not At All Scarring sound effect. Its actually disturbing. And you would really wish that you could shut those sounds off, so that you could concentrate more on the movie.

# Pros : The performances of Sushmita Sen and Ehsaas(the kid) are Excellent. The Maid has also done a wonderful job. (I don't know the name of the actress, but she was there is 'Ek Haseena Thi'. The one who used to bully Urmila in the Jail). The scenes of the Maid and the Kid are extremely well directed. One of their scenes though not eerie is definitely scary.
# Cons: Overdose of Ghosts. By the end of the movie, there are far too many ghosts in the film. And if that was an attempt to scare people, then I only hope that this is RGV's last attempt at scary movies.

# The Story: Well, its quite purposeless. But still I'll give it a try.
Well it starts like 'Bhoot'. A couple (this time with a kid) shifting in a new house. But this time the house is in a jungle, completely isolated from the rest of the world. The husband is a writer who works from home. The wife is a Doctor working in a hospital. The wife's sister also lives with them.
Then the role of this 'Spooky Tennis Ball' starts. It enters the house rolling by itself. The kid, Rohan likes it and shows it to his mom, Sush. She washes it for him. And then its a whole new different Spooky 'Ball Game' altogether. The ball keeps doing its own things like halting in mid air, and bouncing and playing by itself etc. But the ball does all these tricks only when the kid in watching. In front others the ball manages to behave normal. The kid tries to tell this to his parents but they don't believe him.
Then the kid finds some new friends called Manish and Jyoti who (according to him) live on the Banyan Tree outside the house. His parents can't see these friends. They think that since their child is not able to find any friends in this isolated place, he is creating his own imaginary friends.
They get a maid to look after the kid. The maid ill-treats the child.
The Spooky Ball hits the Maid on the face. Sush gets completely annoyed with her son and asks him to apologize to the maid. The kid tries to explain that he is completely innocent and it was his friend Manish who hit the maid with the ball. But the parents can't digest the kid's stories and wonder why their child is lying so much.
The maid takes out her revenge on the child by ill-treating him further. She drags him out of the house takes him to the main road and scares him by flinging him in front of a speeding truck. The child tries to tell this to his parents in the evening. But they are obviously not in the state of mind to believe anything he says anymore. So they decide to show their son to a child psychiatrist. The psychiatrist never made any appearance in the movie. So that’s a loose end.
The maid while going home at night sees the spooky ball on her way near the main road. The next moment she's hit by a truck. The spooky ball returns home. And by this time you start wondering why is the name of the movie 'Vaastu Shastra'? It should have been 'Ball Shastra'.
The police investigation starts. And the police inform the parents about the maid scaring the child in front of the truck. The parents realize that child was not lying about the maid.
Post interval the Spooky Ball does'nt make any appearance. No clue, why.
Throughout the movie, the Mad Man (Rajpal Yadav) keeps making Guest Appearances. (He's one of the very few people in the movie who didn’t make any Ghost Appearances till the end). He always tries to stop Sush's car and tell her something. But she keeps ignoring him.
Post interval there's hardly any story. So I'll just cut it short.
Basically one by one everyone who is alive starts getting killed by the ghosts.
And once they are killed, they themselves turn into ghosts.
And then they kill whoever they see alive.
This process goes on and on. And you are just managing to stay awake, hoping against hope to get scarred at some point of time. But in vain.
Then finally when.. Sush, the kid and the mad man are the only people left alive and not turned to ghosts, luckily we are saved by a fire that burns the Banyan Tree. And then as the Tree turns to ashes, one by one the ghosts start melting. Just like they do in 'Aahat'.
And so you finally realize the story was actually 'Pedh (Tree) Shastra'.
Well the movie is nothing better than those silly horror serials on the TV.
