I was initially smitten by the marketing and photographic abilities of the urban ladder team and had purchased our sofa, cots, mattress, dining table & chairs, rocking chair, tv units, console shelfs and fittings believing that quality would match their other qualities.
The only thing good about UL is their marketing and customer service team. Their products are not only overpriced but lack longevity and crack/give away/show age after a year of use.
My experiences below: 100% first hand.
Dining chairs: I had purchased 8 persica dining chairs along with an Arco table. The dining chairs are so poorly built that the back of 3 chairs broke in succession and had to be replaced by UL in the first year. I'm not sure when the other chairs will give way especially now that the warranty is over.
Cots: Supposedly built in rubber wood, both the double and single cots(Brandenberg Bed) visibly stretch/bend when we sit on them. The center supports of the king bed has given away already and now rests with juggad supports.
Sofa: The oxford sofa's fabric is a dirt magnet. The sofa looks really dirty in a year of use and we have had to replace the entire fabric at a significant cost. I am now regretting why we went for such poorly conceived products which are only made to look good on delivery:(
Rocking chair: I purchased the dylan rocking chair from UL. The rocking arch is very uneven and its more like rocking over rocks than a relaxing swing movement. Customer service cannot help!
Rest of the products: A Memory foam pocket spring cloud mattress that I purchased, I am happy with, Sheesham wood TV unit, doesn't fit flush on the wall as the photograph shows, hangs at a mild incline making it look ungainly.
On a final note, please don't get carried away like us on their marketing emails and well photographed images. Quality is very sub par and the UL team doesn't really have expertise on furniture.
There are more experienced brick and mortar furniture retailers than UL from whom you can purchase better products.
