Songs to Drive to
Oct 10, 2001 11:05 AM 9632 Views

As someone said, “Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart”.How true! All the music lovers here, please get in the mood for this review.  Its time to rekindle your current romantic spark or an old  flame.  Imagine you are with that “special someone” in a candle light dinner or on a long quite drive through the picturesque countryside, along the shadows of mighty mountains and plummeting valleys; in the world of liquid gold sunsets or just seemingly facing the world all alone looking for a soul mate.

Hope you are feeling ro………… romantic because that’s the overall tone of the song list here.  It’s a concoction of ballads, folk, country/rock, blues, old and new.  So just take a break, tank-up for a twisty quite drive and let these songs romance you and melt the miles away.

Here is my take on the  easy-to-listen songs I like.

1) Piano Man by Billy Joel:  I love this song as there is so much emotion and feeling into it.

“*Sing us a song you’re the Piano man

Sing us a song tonight

Well we’re all in the mood for a melody

And you’ve got us feeling all right

…….la la la ra ni la la la.”.This song never fails to give me singing along feeling.

2)Angel by Shaggy.  Shaggy’s bass voice against the great soul back vocals make this song damn sweet.  His voice is one its kind and he uses it effectively to bring up the mood of the song.

3)Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus:-  This country song with those sweet sirens holds a special place for me.  Thanks Reviewer for reminding Cyrus.

4)Let your love flow by Bellamy brothers:  This is a signature song of this duo who not only carved a musical niche but also said socially relevant things. It is a touching song.

5)Running down a dreamby Tom Petty & the heart breakers.  Its one of the best songs on a long drive.

”*It was a beautiful day,

the Sun beatdown,

I had the radio on,

I was drivin’*…….

Now that is a driving song.

6)Crash ‘N’ Burn by Savage garden:

“When U feel all alone

And the world has turned

its back on U*”.

Its a lullaby good-feel sorry for yourself kind of song.  It is a infectious tune.

7)Another day in Paradise by  Phil Collins:  This is the most popular of Collin’s songs. Its about how we take the luxuries of life for granted.  The high amount of bass in this songs will shake your clothes.

8)She’s the One by Robbie Williams:  Robbie’s voice in this fabulous song just melts me into tranquillity.

9)Tears in Heavenby Eric Clapton:  The very mention of his name carries a blueprint of inimitable class.  This song in particular is timeless classic.

10)See you by Ozzy Osbourne

“*Golden days are passing over, yeah!

I can’t seem to C U baby*!”

I got completely hooked on to Ozzy after listening to this song.  Its for your sip of Nirvana.

11)Love me for a reason, and let the reason be love by BoyZone:  Is an infectious tune that U find yourself singing thru the day.

12)So far away by Mark Knopfler expresses the pain of separation with a touching directness .The heartfelt simplicity of this song is mainly derived from Mark’s gruff vocals and elegant guitar tones.

13)Cloud member Nine by Bryan Adams, The song goes….

The moon is out, stars are bright

Whatever come ’s’ gonna be alright

Coz’ tonight U’ll be mine – up on cloud number*.

14)Seasons in sun by Westlife:  I am not a fan of the “come and go” boy bands, but this song is good.  They have a great voice quality, harmony and right kind of emotion in this song. This song was originally sung by Tery Jacks.

15)Leaving on Jet plane by John Denver:  This is an anthem about the depth of love. Denver’s tenor voice and guitar playing are unmatched.

16)With a little help from My friends by McCartney and John Lennon:  The men who instilled rock’n roll with a conscience.  This is song that many of us can relate to.

“*Do you need any-body

I just need somebody to love*”.

This timeless song speaks of the desire to be understood and loved.

17)Right here waiting by Richard Marx:  Richard Marx here nails the emotion of waiting for someone and crystallizes the feelings effectively.  The song takes you right down underneath the oceans as it starts * “Oceans apart day after day*.”

18)Missing Youby  Chris de Burgh:  Unfortunately many know Chris for his ‘the lady in Red’ ballad which is played to death, but he has many richly woven melodies.

This is a beautiful ballad.

19)Baby I am in the Mood for You by None other than Lord  Bob Dylan:  He goes

“*Sometimes I am in the mood,

I wanna leave my lonesome home.

I wanna hit the highway road”*.

This Dylan song is a Catchy blues - rock melody.

20)Bye Bye love by Simon & Garfunkel.  Originally by Everly brothers but I lov this version with all that clapping…… here it goes

Bye Bye, love

Bye bye, happiness

Hello, loneliness

………goodby - ye

I could go on on on . as love spans ages and years.
