Metal is a sub-genre to Rock. But there are several sub-genres of Metal itself. Certain instances would be - Hard Metal, Soft Metal, Glam Metal, Trash Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal etc.
You might be thinking whats the difference between Hard Metal, Heavy Metal, Trash Metal(Speed Metal), Death Metal and Glam Metal? Good question. There is one but very slight difference between Hard and Heavy Metal ie Hard metal is constructed using hard hitting drums and Bass on the other hand Heavy Metal is something that consists mostly of Guitars and Vocals. Whereas Trash Metal is something which can be produced by blending all these stuff and adding some speed ie playing the chords real fast. Speed metal is same as Trash Metal. If you increase the intensity of the music(Sound) then it becomes Death Metal. Soft Metal is something that you can easily identify.
Now I am going to classify my list of 20 best Metal Music into Hard, Soft, Heavy, Death, Trash and Glam Metal. The number of songs in each of the individual sub-sub-genre may vary from minimum of two to a maximum of five.

Probably the only slow song from Black Sabbath. It is not what we call a definitive black Sabbath song. But still one of the best songs that I've heard.

This song kind of deals with the discrimination that we face in today's world. Klaus Meine(Vocals) asks people as to why can't we live as one.

It might seem impossible for a song of only 2 and 1/2 minutes to change a person's outlook towards life. But paranoid is an instance which proves that nothing is impossible. I am not saying that the song is goody-goody type. It, infact, is really dark. Above all after listening to the song one might wonder why do we need to live this wretched life is it for us or our next generation. Why why? It sure gives us vibes of negative feelings.
