Hello everyone, When it comes to 180cc segments only there are 2 bikes that comes into mind one is pulsar 180 and other is RTR 180. Let me share my experience about RTR 180 since I own this bike for close to 3.5 years now.
Looks
This depends on user preferences, but as a owner of RTR 180 I like the styling factor of old model with angel white colour. I feel the Blue Console Back lit is far better compared to orange back-lit of pulsars.
Performance
Of course it's RTR 180 all way.The agility of this bike is so good that it reaches 0 - 60 under 4secs this is due to 17.3bhp power and weights only 139kgs where as pulsar is 16.8bhp with 150kg. Since pulsar 180 has more weight it has stability at high speed. But Indian roads are damn good( you know what I mean) that it's not possible to ride above 100 always. But for city rides RTR 180 gives immense pleasure and comfort and the exahust sound will make u happy as u rev the engine all the way till 11k RPM.
Comfort
This I feel pulsar 180 is way better especially for a pillion rider. RTR 180 seat is very small and the pillion can't sit comfortably. Where as pulsar 180 has a split seats and the seat are big and wide.
Maintenance
Both are cheap in maintenance, but since RTR 180 comes with an rear Disk break, the disk pads often gets worned out so u need to shell 450bucks and this cost extra along with front disk break.
Mileage
Both the bikes give around 40kmpl on an average. But my bike give me around 38kmpl in city and 42kmpl on highway.
Price
Pulsar 180 costs around 87k and RTR 180 costs around 92k ( price may vary to the present situation) and the price are as of 3yrs back when I bought it.
Extra Tips for Maintenance
Always lube the chain for every 500kms so that it won't get rough.
Check tire pressure every week, I used to keep 32psi for back tire and 25psi for front tires.
If you are buying white colour model make sure to clean it every now and then, white looks awesome and it's the only colour where dirt gets accumulated very oftenly and fast.
I have used 2 engine oil and here are my experience,
Tvs TRU 4 premium full synthetic - an okayish engine oil it's good for 4k to 5k kms and very cheap around 550bucks. Buy it only during maintenance period of first 3 months.
Motul - The best brand I have ever come across, I used 7100 full synthetic bought it for 850 bucks and this makes the bike very aggressive in terms of pickup and it makes engine very noisy, not at all suitable for RTR 180.
Motul 5100 semi synthetic - Best engine oil for the price of 550bucks, can run for 4.5k to 5.5k kms and is one of the best as of now for RTR 180.
Lastly, Don't ride RTR 180 above 100. I mean, the fun comes only when u ride it within 100 in a city traffic and rev it hard.
Never compare RTR 180 with a pulsar 220 comeon you can't compare a 600cc for 1000cc and it doesn't make any sense. Both are good at their own segments.
If u want a good ride for city conditions then trust me RTR 180 is good and if u want performance package overall for highway and for the price you pay go for pulsar 220.
For any more further queries you can drop a comment and I'll respond to it.
Hope you liked my review.
Thanks.
