“It was an accident” responds Sanjana on a question posed by the handsome-hunk-later-revealed-gay character who sat next to her in the opening scene of much awaited and fancily promoted “Tum Mile”. The opening scene was in a plane where long lost couple meets again Akshay (Emraan Hashmi) and Sanjana (Soha Ali Khan). They exchange some awkward looks and statements with each other. Mind it ! the trend of realistic conversation in films which was brought by Imtiyaz Aki has been successfully abused in this opening scene (watch yourself to know what I mean).
Going back to the statement passed by Sanjana aka Soha “It was an accident” . This wasn’t just a dialogue in the scene, in a way she tried justifying her mistake of choosing to do this film. In a way she hinted us to walk out immediately as “Its an Accident” … In a way she hinted us that if we are thinking it’s a film about Mumbai Floods .. “Its an Accident” … I agree my watching this film was an accident I will remember this all my life. Tum Mile is an accident done by Kunal Deshmukh’s (The Director)
About the BackDrop:
The backdrop of the Film was “Mumbai Rain” ? … Yeah its true … Mumbai rains was the back-drop of the film. While we watched Akshay and Sanjana in the forefront sorting the conflict of their relationship we could actually notices few rainDROPs in the BACKground .. so it justifies that backdrop was Mumbai rains. That’s what Mahesh Bhatt meant when he kept promoting the film giving condolences to the people dies on 26 July.
About characters in the film:
Emran- has finally become a Painter after last few films in which he was busy painting. He performed well (by accident) … He looked better and acted better than Neil for sure.
Soha- has grown old overnight .. Yeah you heard it right. … She looked tired without purpose throughout the film…. They could not provide her a Make-up artist (by Accident) .. She has overworked on her biceps and they are popping out and giving competition to Salman. What she needs to workout on is her Double Chin. ..
Other characters served there purpose nothing to be talked about.
About Shot Design:
We need to salute Kunal for successfully copying one scene of Titanic. But sorry, nobody including me took a heavy breath watching that fake scene. I don’t even want to give credit of blocking water in one area and shooting the film. We did a better job as kids blocking water and playing boat-boat in our Verandah.
About Story/Screenplay:
Sorry there was no screenplay writer so the film was written by a Dialogue writer. They never spoke they only threw dialogues on each other. The story was the same which granpa’s of bollywood locked in one tiffin box before dying but somehow the writer got hold of it and without realizing that “its Stale now” he served with a Chutni of “Mumbai Rains”
About Technicalities:
Prakash Kutty’s cinematography need not be commented on … he did what he could. A lot of work on film has been done in post. Editing is bland. DI (Digital intermediate) work is worth mentioning in film which made it look slightly hollywoodish. Music and Songs are worth listening, enjoy them.
One piece of advice to Kunal . “Don’t fool Indian audience by instigating them with a wrong picture. They are sensitive about such natural calamities happened in the past… stop making a fool out of such serious incident”
P.S: I like the healthy competition which has started in bollywood offlate. “Who can make the worst movie?” I wonder now how APGK got four stars .. probably the reviewers saw Tum Mile before that. LOL
