TUM - A Dangerous Obsession. Review on Tum - A Deadly Obsession

TUM ? A DANGEROUS OBSESSION

TUM is one of the most controversial films being released this year. There are about 3 sex scenes about 4-6 mins long each, but no nudity, mouth-kissing, and graphical sex.

In other words, TUM is made like a softcore movie with provocative scenes (showing actors licking each other, getting excited etc?) rather than a murderous and horror film (like Darr - 1993)

STARCAST:

Karan Nath (Jatin), Netanya Singh (Isha), Rajat Kapoor (Vinod), Manisha Koirala (Kamini) and Aman Verma (Ins. Yusuf Malik).

THE STORY (Detailed):

Jatin, a young and successful photographer spots Kamini, a woman in her forties and married to the CEO of a multinational corporate in Mauritius. He approaches her, in the hope of being allowed to take her photos. She disagrees at first, but she finally lets the guy use his camera only when they go out sightseeing with each other.

Then, comes the first controversial scene in the film. After Jatin and Kamini dine in the hotel restaurant, being drunk (Jatin only pretends being drunk whilst Kamini I guess really is), they have a extramarital relationship in Kamini`s hotel bed. She realizes this only in morning and so she decides to tell Jatin who is already passionate about sex with her, to forget everything and to continue with life.

Jatin is annoyed and does not want to accept this fate. Jatin craves and burns for Kamini which leads from passion to a dangerous obsession. Well, after Vinod, Kamini`s husband arrives and they (his wife and he) celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary in the same hotel itself. This is what happens in Mauritius.

Next, is that Vinod and Kamini, after having sex (don`t worry, they only lick and excite each other, but even if there`s nudity, it`s under the quilt), they return back to India. Jatin follows them. Jatin also has his own girl friend in the film who is Isha. She is a supermodel who loves Jatin very much. Isha exposes herself a lot and also is in the third and final sex scene of the film, with Jatin. This scene, I think is for real and there`s no body-dubbing at all. They really kiss is the song SUNGDIL. Her clothes are WOW- to such an extent that she even dances the word SEX provocatively.

Now, second part starts here?

Soon, Jatin`s girlfriend, Isha gets to know about the sexaffair between Kamini and Jatin. She menaces Kamini several times as naturally, she does not want someone else to snatch her boyfriend away. VULGAR AND ABUSIVE WORDS IN ENGLISH ARE BEING EXPRESSED IN SOME SCENES OF THE SECOND HALF. Jatin also menaces Kamini stating that if she cannot afford another night of sex with him, her daughter, Preeti and he will do it in bed together. Kamini looks tired and really stressed-out in the second half of the film.

One day, Jatin is found murdered. Who is it? Kamini (for wanting to avoid and eliminate him), Vinod (for having sex with his wife), Preeti (for having sex with her mother and being manaced as being a lolita), Abhay (for fighting with him on the day of the murder) or Jatin`s girlfriend, Isha (for having broken her heart so many times) ?

Inspector Yusuf Verman takes the weird case and I will not divulge the rest?

MY VIEWS

TUM ? A DANGEROUS OBSESSION is really a provocative film with quite an amount of sex and excitement, but Jatin looks more like a mentally deranged person than an obsessed one. I`ve written a comment on him on Mouthshut. The film surprisingly lacks the suspense it could have had and ironically, the murderer is the one who? (I won`t tell you)

The film could have been a lot better and the songs suck. I don`t appreciate any of them. The scenes are very blacky and dark in colour, making it look like a suspense and stylish thriller, but also with some softcore porn present. Acting is average for the whole of the cast. Dialogues are abusive and quite vulgar in some parts of the movie.

Isha looks bad in her make-up but soo provocative in her sex roles in the film. She exposes herself a lot and in some instances, I could even see parts of her breasts. The sex scenes are so realistic that even Jatin, starts moving over Isha`s body. This is the first Indian commercial film where I`ve seen such movements in an obsessed movie.

IN THE END, ALL I`VE GOT 2 SAY IS THAT TUM ? A DANGEROUS OBSESSION SHOULD BE CENSORED TO THE VISA 15 OR VISA 18 BOARD. TUM IS NOT A FILM FOR CHILDREN AS IT WILL CERTAINLY GIVE THEM BAD AND IRRESPONSIBLE IDEAS.
