Hi readers,

Here I would like to elobrate more about rappelling.

Equipments

Ropes :- Breaking strength 800-1000 Kgs so it will not happen that you are doing rappelling and ropes will broke in 2 pieces ;-)

Decender :- Also know as figure of eight.

Crab :-

Harness :- Which is like seat belt & which balance the body

Gloves :-

Safety

There is 2 way safety. When person is getting down from mountain he is attached with one Fixed rope which is extended up to bottom where person is suppose to get down. This rope is handled by person who is known as controller.

Before person gets down one more rope is attached on his heap. This rope is called as Top Belay. Whole rope remain on top of mountain and person release the rope as other person rappel down.

Assume that person is new to rappelling and he is getting down too fast which is not advisable , in that case person who is on top can hold the rope or person who is controlling the fixed rope can hold the rope tightly. This will result in reduction in speed and even person who is doing rappelling will not able to move at all .

Girl participant must wear monkey cap or any cap which covers their hair inside cap. Otherwise there are chances of hair getting stuck-up in decender and which is dangerous.

While getting down till you are in contact with rocks , always keep your legs straight and keep your body in 70 - 90 Degree. Try to avoid your body contact with rocks. As you can see in first clip where person body came in contact with rocks which can hurt the person. Never rush will getting down as you can see in second clip , take initial steps properly and rest you will enjoy.
