We had contracted Total Packers Movers for my move from Mumbai to Delhi and we agreed to the price they quoted with no negotiations. The household goods were limited - less than 40 pieces including everything.


Experience was very disappointing :


1. Two days before the agreed date, I get a call to see if we can give the household goods a day before agreed date. This was just out of the blue. While they agreed to original date, this was the first surprise.


2. The 4 member packing team which came on the day was extremely inefficient and incapable of proper packing. Only one man was actually doing the job, rest all were just hanging around.


3. Packing material which they bought was of poor quality. Bubble wrap which they brought was absolutely ineffective in protecting anything.


4. The poor quality material they brought was also in-sufficient for packing the items. The packaging material was sparsely used and even then it got over without complete packing for all items.


5. The items were incorrectly numbered - lucky that I caught it while loading. Further, the marking on the items was not done properly.


6. We were promised that all unpacked items will be packed at godown. This never happened as we received unpacked items on delivery.


7. We were promised delivery within 5-6 days. Despite follow up, the items were delivered on the 15th day.


8. Scheduling the delivery was a nightmare - multiple phone calls and conference calls to various people in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai to organize delivery. In some conversations, it appeared as if no one really cared about us.


9. We were being pushed for a delivery at night after 9pm/10pm- this is absolutely unreasonable.


10. Finally, delivery was scheduled for Saturday between 6 am and 7 am in Delhi. Nevertheless, the driver arrived at 4:30 am and started shouting and using foul language. The driver even had a fight with the labour which he brought.


11. After a rapid unloading, the driver fled the scene leaving the labour behind.


12. The labour came with no toolbox to join the dismantled bed and took a long time to do so with bare hands and make shift equipment. I will have to get a carpenter and get this done again.


13. One item was not delivered. This item was not packed as the packing material ran out. This is still not delivered.


14. A lot of Crockery was broken and even steel utensils bent.


15. The way they packed clothes, I will have to get all of them cleaned/dry leaned again. Some clothes were also damaged.


16. Wood Furniture chairs were damaged - again due to poor packing and poor packing material.


17. We took an insurance from Total and till date have not received any insurance policy from them. I don’t know what they did with the premium money which they collected from us.


We have not opened some items - TV, Fridge, Washing Machine, AC yet — we are dreading to see their conditions.


These folks are a bunch of unprofessional. They are insensitive to clients and don’t even know how to talk to clients properly - I would not talk to my servant the way the delivery driver spoke to me. They will not follow up on anything.


We would persuade you to NOT use them for any assignment.
