Mosquitoes and flies are the reasons for spreading different diseases like malaria, dengue, pneumonia, typhoid, elephantiasis and other skin infections. Our ancestors used to burn natural herbs and their extracts in the fire to combat this problem. The fumes of such fire were supposed to purify the air and drive away the disease causing germs from the area.
Now, the present day manufacturers say, they do the same with the advanced improvement in technology. They have made Mosquito coils out of clay-like material which is set to stand on Stands, included in the package. When burning, they release a pleasant odor to people but the same will be highly repellent odor to mosquitoes and other pests. They burn slowly and generally will last 2 or more hours per coil.
Mosquito repellents come in the form of creams, coils, mats etc. As I told in my earlier review, I am not at all for Odomos, the mosquito repellent cream. I feel, only the smell of the cream lingers in your body with no effect to drive away the mosquitoes. Tortoise mosquito coils are better alternatives to invest in.
With Tortoise mosquito coils, my experience has been totally different. I found the smoke coming out when you burn the coils to be quite effective in chasing away these flying insects. Whenever I went to India, I made sure there are enough Tortoise mosquito coils for our use, as there are plenty of mosquitoes in the area where we live. With the use of these coils, we were able to drive away our uninvited guests! (mosquitoes). Actually, Tortoise mosquito coils used to adorn my dressing table, along with other cosmetics.
While using these coils, you have to remember an important thing. It is to keep open your windows open while using these coils. This will drive out all mosquitoes and your place will be free from mosquitoes at least the for 8 to 10 hrs. Even otherwise, you must always keep your windows at least partly open to enjoy fresh pure air.
Tortoise mosquito repellent coils can control mosquitoes during outdoor as well as indoor activities. You have to just place a coil in the area to be protected. You can place one in every ten feet around the area you want to protect. Stands can be reused with new coils. Usually, a package contains 2 stands and 10 coils.
These mosquito repellent coils have been found to keep the areas free of mosquitoes for up to eight hours. They are most effective at repelling mosquitoes in small areas with less wind.
I would say these coils are advantageous as they help stop the spread of mosquito-carrying diseases such as West Nile virus, dengue fever and malaria.
Manufacturers of mosquito repellents in India say that they have been made from herbal products and hence are very safe. They recommend the use of these mosquito coil repellents for flies and cockroaches in wardrobes and even in food storage area. The coils according to them have been formulated using natural herbal oils and extracts available in India. They kill all disease germs from air and allow clear air for good health.
Here in Canada, I haven’t spotted a single mosquito as yet. But, we do have many other kinds of irritating flying insects. I have seen many people scratching their hands and body as they talk. People here do use similar coils though not the same Tortoise brand, around decks, patios, porches pools, campsites and barbeque areas to minimize the nuisance of these flying insects.
Last but not the least, I would like to conclude by reminding you all “Prevention is better than cure”. Instead of trying to get rid of mosquitoes by using creams, coils etc, why not we try to keep mosquitoes out of our home? I know it’s not an easy task! It involves some planning practically. Mosquitoes are cleverer than us. What do you think?
First, check your windows and doors for openings and replace or repair any part as necessary. These openings allow our friends to enter the house very easily. Try wearing protective clothing such as long sleeved shirts and long pants when you are outdoors. You can tuck your mosquito net under your mattress when sleeping.
Well, having said all about mosquitoes, the ways to get rid of them by using Tortoise mosquito coils and some precautionary methods to keep them away, now it is up to you to protect yourself from these creatures. Use whatever you are comfortable with in chasing away these mosquitoes. To me, Tortoise coils are the best, as they really work!
Anyway, have a good time without mosquitoes bothering you. Try Tortoise mosquito coils if you haven’t tried before. You will agree with me. I am sure about that. Good night!
