When I look down my memory lane, all my First are somewhere or the other associated with this accessory known as Titan Watch. For me it is not a mere accessory but an instrument of emotion, love and care which I received time and again from my beloved, and those who hold the utmost importance in my life.

The Tale

In my earlier school days, I did not care for a watch as such and would be satisfied with any brand I had, mostly being a hand me down of my mom. More or less I never cared to wear one also till it was not the times of the board examination.

The first Titan I received was from my Grandfather for clearing the board exams with distinction. Oh what a moment it was! It stays in my memory etched forever, when I picked up my own choice of watch.

It was a plain white dial with a black strap, most functional yet the sturdiest I ever had. For that time Titan had not launched the collections as they have now and hence cannot classify this one.

And henceforth my treasure kept on mounting, with the every First:

~First day of graduation –The Titan Gold collection watch which had strap made in the form of leaves gifted by my dad -smart, delicate and to be worn on formal occasions; though it still adorns my prized possessions ,after nearly ten years and is as good as new.

~The First Salary Slip-Was my first rendezvous with the Fast-track collection of Titan. And since then this is the one which I endear the most. The one which I bought was the steel strap with a rectangular dial, I just adore it for its smart and trendy look .And this is most preferred choice when it comes to gifting also.

~The First Raksha Bandhan after my brother got married- I received a beautiful piece from the Titan Raga collection. Demure and chic, it is a one to be flaunted and worn with care.

The Loyalist I am, I strictly patronize the brand and till now have not ever felt the inclination to move over to any of the much flaunted and advertised foreign brands. Though I can also blame my tendency of preferring Indian products, and especially the one which bear the name of Tata; this particular collection has never given me a reason to complain about.

Even the easy availability of the Titan outlets in nearly all places and the excellent service keeps me glued to them. Nearly every city or location boasts of a Titan outlet or Titan products.

The Collections

Titan was launched by the Tata group in 1984 in a joint venture with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. It commenced a separate brand by the name of Sonata, and since then has become the primary name in Indian Watch industry, with HMT taking a setback; and its constant introductions of novice ideas and collections.

The first breakthrough collection or in lay man terms when we actually got up and noticed Titan was the Fast trax collection. But they have traveled a long road since then and the latest ones they boast of are :

Zoop Collection-With this collection Titan caught the pulse of nation-kids. Smart Trendy sets in affordable ranges made this collection a hit since the time it was introduced. The prices start from approximately Rs.900 onwards. The theme of this set is Sporty, casual and bright!

WWF Collection-This collection is the Cause-oriented collection of Titan. By joining hands with WWF, for celebrating the beauty and behaviour of six endangered species, Titan comes with a different look. Extremely elegant and chic watches in steel case, and color theme of the species, namely Turtle, Rhino and so forth. Prices range from Rs.3000 onwards.

Octane Collection-Smart and Chic, this one takes full point for being worn on any occasion, by any age or generation and is the passes off for both smart and casual events. The prices usually start from Rs.3000 onwards.

Purple Collection-The Ultra feminine collection which speaks the best of watches to add elegance to the wrist. Prices range from Rs. 3500 onwards.

Raga Collection-This collection is clearly meant for formals. Either set in Gold and Silver plating, it is the most graceful and suave compilation of sets. Though some watches may also be found in this with leather straps. It is the ones with metal straps which take the cake. And for that woman in you, they an extra-ordinary Raga-Diva Prices range from Rs.2000 onwards.

The Sinful Collections

Nebula-Studded with precious and semi-precious stones, this one aims at being a piece of jewellery or bracelet rather than a watch. The prices range from Rs. 55000 onwards approximately.Rohit Bal had been roped for designing a few exquisite pieces for this compilation.

Wishlist

For it is human to wish for more and subtleties always grab my attention, the latest craving is to own the Rohit Bal designed Heritage watch , in which he has drawn the inspiration from the carvings on Taj Mahal. The piece for its exquisite beauty and traditional lineage is no doubt a temptation through and through. Is anybody hearing!
