Wardrobe OverHauling

'When a man looks at his wardrobe and says he has nothing to wear, he actually means he has nothing clean to wear. When a woman looks at her wardrobe and says she has nothing to wear, she actually means has nothing new to wear. Most of us would agree to this.'

The daily morning do or die decision . What to wear. Are you one of those hundred thousand men/women who face this dilemma daily morning? If you are one of those who takes 5 min to find something in her/his wardrobe. Your wardrobe needs serious overhauling.

Take time to organize your wardrobe. Most of the time our wardrobe would be full of clothes that we rarely wear. Party dresses or dresses that don't fit or dresses that have gone out of fashion completely are some such items which clog our wardrobe and make it messy. Here are some way how you can deal with them.

I generally keep my party outfits in a suitcase and remove them a few days before I am needed to wear them so I can air and if needed dry-clean or iron them. For clothes that don't fit you, my advice is again keep them in a suitcase and once in a while say every 3 months, when you feel have reduced or gained somewhere in the league of 4 kilos then try on all such outfits to find out what fits.

Some handy tips for clothes out of fashion. Find out a good alteration tailor.

  • Use skintight stretchable jeans as churidars with long kurtas.

  • Make cut offs from ol Jeans by ripping off with the help of a blade or knife.

  • Make short kurtas from older kurtas which you are bored of wearing and pair them with smart trousers.

  • Use old dupattas to make scarves, short kurtas, wrap around skirts or tops.

  • Similarly use sarees to make new imaginative outfits like skirts, salwar suits, short kurtas, tops to go with jeans, trousers or skirts.

  • I have even used dad's old trousers that don't fit him but have good fabric to make straight pencil skirts.

  • Make colourful cushions from an old saree or duppatta and decorate your home.

Take some time out this weekend and give yourself and your wardrobe a new look.
