I met Vidya(my college friend) after 5 long years and the first question she asked me was?How are your nails? those around me were zapped!

I must confess that I have a nail fetish and when I saw this topic of two of my favorites-Nails and Art then I couldn?t resist but write?bout it.

There are many(guys n gals) who must be thinking why does anyone bother at all?bout nails?

Well here are 3 good reasons for that:

>>I don't think nail polishes taste very good so it is a good remedy for making people to give up biting nails

>>Gud manicured hands are an added accessory that goes with any attire esp. if u are someone who uses the hands a lot while talking.

>>If you are the type who luv to showcase a new fashion statement

Here is a 10-step guide to exotic Nail Art(though I am no expert on this but have gone for Nail art couple of times)

1.Hygienic good nails are the base for the nail art. Make sure you get a professional manicure done at least once a month. Start off with clean nails.

2.File the ends to be either flat or tapered as you like them but nail art luks best when it is a flat ended nail

3.Next is to apply a coat of Topcoat? there are so many in the market these days which are freeze dry or fast dry. This is to enhance the sheen and also to protect the polish.

4.Apply your favorite nail color? it cud be mauves or bright shades depending on the occasion or as u?r mood permits.

5.For nail art you can use thin brushes or also nail art pens, which are also available in the market.

6.There are umpteen designs you can go in for like dots, lines or teardrop for beginners, once you master the art u can also go for shading.

7.Using a nailbrush put small dots all around the nail to form a small floral pattern.like this .:*:.

8.For lines draw a diagonal line first and inside that can draw small patterns or put a teardrop and spread it out a little to form a pattern. like this //:-)

9.If you want that extra zing add a small bead, small crystal or also nail rings.

10.Contrast colors luk best. If u?r base nail polish is a dark shade metallic silver wud go well with it. If the base color is a mauve or natural shade u can go for white or any dark shade.

U need not have long nails to try this even small clean nails wud do or even go for artificial nails.

And if u r very bad or skeptical about painting then u have ready-made stickers of nail art, which can be pasted on top of u?r nail color.
