an·ger n.

A strong feeling of displeasure or hostility.

Synonyms: anger, rage, fury, ire, wrath, resentment, indignation

These nouns denote varying degrees of marked displeasure. Anger, the most general, is strong displeasure: Rage and fury imply intense, explosive, often destructive emotion:

In short . Anger  is almost always destructive! It's a state of'Temporary insanity'

Why does one get angry?

A feeling of:

1st: Being wronged:

Could be in both personal and professional life. This feeling increases in intensity if one has little or no scope to give vent to one's anger. A feeling of helplessness creeps in.

2nd: Deprivation / Cheated:

Not getting what is due . Especially when one has worked hard for that! Worse if one is cheated! Almost a sure case scenario to induce anger.

3rd: Frustration:

Reasons could be many & the spectrum very wide. Ranging from being unsuccessful in:

? Education

? Professional life.

? Love & married life

4th: Ridiculed:

Even the coolest of em all will have a limit to tolerate' Ridicule'!

Think about it! Ridicule, lowers one's self esteem to a point where one loses self-control and sometimes leading to uncontrollable anger.

5th: For no reason at all(This is the most worrying one!):

How often we have seen people or experienced it ourselves! Anger for no rhyme or reason! This one is the worst & it can transform one's personality from' Congenial' to'Hostile' without any apparent reason leading to misunderstandings, quarrels, animosity & sometimes'Broken Hearts'I suspect this stems from .

a. Desire to attract attention

b. Project an' Angry young man'image( Big B?) which is considered very macho.

I have few very simple tips to control anger . It works for an imbecile like me & I don?t see any reason why it shouldn't for anyone else!

1. Proper Sleep & rest:

Reduces anxiety & stress . More often than not, when we'Sleep over it' we get up with a more positive frame of mind & if not totally eliminated we have a better grip on our anger. A fresh mind sees'reason' &'logic'!

2. Soothing music:

'If music be the food of love play on'. Nothing is more healing for jarred nerves than soothing music! It always calms me down. It makes me look at things with saner perspectives.

3. Prayers / meditation:

There are times when I am very angry I take refuge in God. I believe this helps me in not doing things or indulge in acts for which I might regret later. Meditation is a sure panacea for any state of anger.

There are few other things which reduces / helps me control my anger .

? Being amongst kids

? Walking in a garden with lots of flowers

? Playing with pets .

? Going for a quite walk by the river or sea side .

? Grandma's recipe: counting backwards from 100( it actually works!)

However there are times when you ought to get angry!Your anger instills a sense of pride in you & then drives you to higher heights of endeavour.

But all said and done, my advice to all .

Don't worry be happy

~

'Don't let your bed of sorrow

Ever conquer your pride

Remember there's always a way out

Just take up a course in happiness

Take up a course to clear out your mind

You will show your self how to smile

Take up a course in happiness

Take up a free instruction in life

You will learn how to smile'
